Talking dildos... Now there's an idea for Dragon's Den! But are they western themed? You'll be walking like a cowboy afterwards if that counts?...

Was SR3's dildo stuff ever a problem from the "politically correct" standpoint? As I understand it, the real problem in that game is how it played sex trafficking for the lulz, that doesn't really fly anymore and I wouldn't mind at all if it were removed, actually I'd approve. But who cares about the dildos? Infantile, sure, but problematic?
The SR reboot--at least from what I've seen so far--seems to tone down the craziness the series is known for, and at first I was disappointed about that because it's kind of become the very identity of the series. But the more I think about it, the more I'm in favour of it. Asking myself: do I really want another SR3? Being honest with myself, actually I don't.
As SR went on, it tried to ever more outdo itself on the craziness side but lost track of what made it really stand out: GTA but fun. It was running into a dead end. The series needs to move on and reinvent itself, and it looks like the reboot is trying just that. I'm really looking forward to it and I won't mind if dildo jokes are dropped entirely. I'm not 30 15 anymore.

I would like a return to SR3 as it had the craziness at a level i actually enjoyed and much as i liked the later entries i think they went a bit OTT. I do want craziness in my Saints' Row though. For me it was a fun alternative for when when GTA started to crawl up it's own arse and get too serious.
A serious Saints' Row just doesn't interest me at all. I'm not 15 but i'm not so old and jaded that i don't find dildo jokes funny. Bring on the cringe and the pantomime fun. Life is serious enough without every game turning dour and serious. Let me have my stupid fun times again.
One of my aims in life is to have a Saints' Row Christmas Jumper made. I even have the texture exported and every now and then i have a look about for somewhere i can turn a bitmap and some screenshots into a knitted jumper.

Valid points, and I still am kind of conflicted about if I want it to be SR3 crazy or actually a little less. I certainly don't want it to be serious, but that's not what the footage so far looked like. The main impression I got from that is that first and foremost it tries to be a more light-hearted and actually enjoyable version of GTA again, and I like that.
Hate to admit it, but the dildo jokes never did anything for me. But granted, I've been old and jaded for a long time.
edit: I believe my main fear is that if it prioritises being OTT crazy again, it may lose focus on being a good game outside of that again. I wouldn't mind a great game with SR3 craziness, but I like that from what I've seen so far, the reboot seems to prioritise trying to be a good game. That gets my hopes up.

SR3 had just her right amount of crazy, but SR4 was to much. Really couldn't get into SR4 but SR3 was a hoot.

So they released the character customisation as a "demo" (www.saintsrow.com) weighing in at >4GB. Allows you to save and share your designs and if you share, you get some free cosmetics in the final game. It's an obvious marketing ploy but I quite like that once I've downloaded the final game, I can just pick one of the designs I had all time in the world for and start playing, rather than spending the first few hours in character creation.

Are there any dildos in the character customisation? Asking for an easily angered friend.

I hope it's just because they left a bunch of options out, but this doesn't seem much more robust a character creator than the previous games'.

I have only played around a little so far without creating anything interesting. As for stupidity, the new SR looks like they've actually scaled back the insanity of the previous games. When it comes to over the top stupidity in games, SR3 is the classic imho. Piece of art.

As long as the in game characters sing along to the radio playing 1980/90's classics I will be happy, the memory of "singing" Take on me , while flying a single man space ship still brings a smile. Also I wonder if we get cameos from the OG Saints, perhaps even play as them. Gears did it with Gears 4 and 5, new.

I always thought 2 was the best one in terms of tone, it hit the right balance. Certainly wasn't the best for gameplay though.

3's the best for me. It really set itself apart from the GTA clones by that one. 4 went too over the top with the sci-fi superhero Crackdown abilities.. it was just a lot.

Playing around with the character creator. Not too keen on the outfit choices given, though I'm sure the main game will have more options in the shops. Loving the face and body sliders though. I've got a reasonable me going at the moment.
