As a 70’s kid I couldn’t understand why knights would wear white satin, was it to wear under their armour for comfort or something?
Just been told by the gf it’s Nights in White Satin… ffs, it all makes sense now! How embarrassing… such a twat!

I told my wife that the lover had strong beliefs, and not a trombellise.

When the Prodigy say 'Equal rights and justice in this time' I hear 'Evil lies and lust are in this land'.
Also, my daughter can't understand why Bob Marley could never forget Norway. Me neither.

Until last year, I was convinced New Order were praising the "morning sun is the truck that brings me milk". I think I came to this conclusion aged 10, and that was clearly what they would be singing about.

When Primal Scream sing Loaded and go into the "I don't wanna lose your love" bit in the chorus, I hear it as, "I'm going on the loo tonight"

'Give up yourself unto the moment, the time is now' - Moloko
I always heard it as 'Let's take a break and see a movie'. I mean, its not even similar, its just the slightly unusual way she sings.
Also, for a long time I heard the line in George Ezra's Budapest "For you, you. I'd leave it all" as "For you, you, I dozy-doe".

Except they will also file legal action against Hooky first!

What does Google say at your end? Here it says that's right. I guess I'm just confused or something.

Alkaline Trio were my favourite band growing up, so i got the heart tattoo on my wrist and also one of my favourite lines of theirs. 'Your Majesty, you're royal blue'. It makes more sense in the context of the whole chorus, it's one of those 'if you know, you know' things.
But apparently i've been getting the whole thing wrong. I always thought it was
I'm not much of a jester, but i'd test poisoned food for you Your Majesty, you're royal blue, I'm loyal to my King of Pain
Apparently it's 'I'm Royalty, my King of Pain'.

I'm guessing that's the censored version for kids TV. The lyric is definitely rub.

Bloc Party - this modern love
"You told me you wanted to eat up my sadness" will always be "You told me you wanted to eat up my sandwich" to me.
It just makes more sense all around...

Gabrielle - Dreams
Dreams can come true, Look at me babe, I'm Living Proof
To be fair that makes more sense than the actual lyric.

My wife thought that Don Henley was singing about a poisoned son of a gun, and the Jam were singing about needing 2 rifles.
I rib her mercilessly whenever they come on.

Oh no as I kid I got this wrong from The verve.
Now the trucks don't work They just make you worse but I know I'll see your face again.
To be fair I did ask something about the trucks and my mum just gave me a blank look followed by my Dad pissing himself. I was very confused.

I’ve always been a bit puzzled as to why Michael Stipe would want to sing about the “comedy of Cheryl Baker” in the The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonight.

Did you not wonder why a song called The Drugs Don't Work kept banging on about trucks and made no mention of drugs?

I’ve always been a bit puzzled as to why Michael Stipe would want to sing about the “comedy of Cheryl Baker” in the The Sidewinder Sleeps Tonight. Oh no one ever knew what the hell Michael Stipe was wittering on about. I honestly thought he said “What’s The Frequency Eric Bischoff?” because he wanted to watch WCW Nitro on his old timey TV. This thread is bringing back some Adam and Joe Eggcorn vibes.
