Boring explanation:
The Sinden lightgun works by drawing a white rectangle on your screen that the camera in the gun looks for to triangulate the spot you're aiming at. Normally the software draws a white box on the screen for you.
I'm a real console gamer but while I can do the border with my Retrotink, it's a fixed size and I actually need it to be smaller than the max size of the screen as I need to sit a bit closer than is optimal due to the pitiful size of my game room. Also it's not been a problem yet but I'd prefer not to risk a static white border burning a hole in my OLED TV.
Foam/polystyrene is immediately better than any of my ideas so far!

I like to think I'm a reasonably tech savvy guy, but I have no idea what that post means.

You could use foamcore board for a nice neat finish.
3mm is easy to cut with a scalpel and a straight edge. Lots of light strokes (!) better than one right through.

I get you now Psi, have you thought of surface mounted metal led profiles with diffusers? Most come with corner sections so you can make your own frame. I'm using some at the moment for under counter lighting.

How about a bespoke size picture frame Matt - the white rectangle you get when you take a picture to a shop to be framed.
Then just stick it with bluetac or something

Yeah sorry for stinking up the thread. This suggestion was the winner: How about a bespoke size picture frame Matt - the white rectangle you get when you take a picture to a shop to be framed. Then just stick it with bluetac or something Measured up and ordered it from picturegalleryuk.com

Had a leak under the shower in the downstairs bathroom. I was convinced it was the pipework, perhaps the plumber had knocked it when fitting the new boiler. Wife thought it might be the ageing sealant so we dug that out, re-sealed it and re-grouted some bits too. Well fuck me sideways, it's only worked. If it wasn't saving me money and hassle, I'd be annoyed she was right.

Yeah why is it so unsettling when the wife is right about something like this.
Like "what is she missing that I must have already thought of"

Tbf, my wife is much better at DIY than me, especially anything that needs finesse. I'm just the labourer

Toilet wont flush, I mean it will but you have to take the lid off and lift the doodad. If something broke off I can't find it to know what is wrong, wife not happy.
It's late and I'm a few drinks in, I can either leave it to tomorrow or wait till all are asleep and dismantle the other toilet that never gets used and see if I can figure it out. Guessing wife may be less happy with this option.
Still plenty of wine left mind.

So break a second toilet while you're half cut? Sounds like a plan!

Heh, that seriously was my plan. Think I may just ride the night out and if I'm lucky can play a game when all are asleep.
Fuck it, we have two bogs. Nowhere near the big deal made of it as it first seems.

In the cold light of day, identify the same part and replace. Flushes are a PITA

Agreed, I think I know what piece it may be but can't see where it has broke or find any parts of it. Want to open the second cistern to check to make sure but the ring to unscrew it all is all rusted over and stuck. Definitely wait for tomorrow when I can find the wd40.

So my house is literally falling down. Been having trouble with my boiler losing pressure for the last few months, had 2 plumbers in and have eventually determined that the boiler is fine. Must be a leak on the system.
Well one gave me a number for a leak detection service, so they'll be over in 2 weeks, thing is, my pressure loss is now worse, going from 1.5 bar to 0 over 24 hours. I shudder to think where that water is going.
Really hope they find it, as we don't have any visible signs of a leak.
Get this through, they only do a report, and will cost nearly £500. Then I need to get a plumber to actually gain access and fix it, even if it's in my foundation. Then I need to put it all right again.
This is basically going to wipe out my meagre savings (and even then I'm not sure I will have enough), and right before Christmas too. Fuck.

No obvious leaks around the rad valves? It's rare that it's the pipework. How old is the boiler?

We had something similar which we discovered when Southern Water presented us with a ten THOUSAND pound water bill.
Get your water company involved - the leak might be their problem rather than yours. If nothing else, SW froze the water charge whilst we investigated.
Ours turned out to be a constant dripping leak under the kitchen floor. Thank fuck, it was just leaking into the chalk ground and caused no damage. Losing that much pressure at that speed suggests that it’s somewhere below the frame of your house - at least from my experience.
Good luck!

That was my reaction to the bill They cancelled the whole amount when we asked them how they had managed to let the bill build to that amount without any attempt to contact us and - in the end - were pretty helpful in ruling out mains problems. Still shit me up a treat!

Sounds like he’s got a sealed system so no water running from the mains. That much of a pressure loss would mean big puddles of water somewhere. If there’s no visible signs then maybe a pressure release valve has failed? They should discharge water externally so check if any water is pissing outside
