ZuluheroHave much the same problem. Even those we know through word of mouth are swamped. It's taking ages to get anyone to do anything. Which is why I replaced the sink myself (all good, only took about 8 hours of swearing over 3 weekends and 3 trips to Screwfix for bits I didn't know I needed). Pleased with it though eventually. Yep. My son's an apprentice plumber. They're booked up months ahead. Unless there's water pouring through the ceiling you're going to have to wait.

Well done, it is satisfying when you do something like that. I think my issues are a little bit outside of my ability though. Tbh, I'd struggle with a sink.😂 Cheers, definitely a sense of accomplishment. Kitchen tap needs replacing next. Given my dad was a plumber, it's the least I could manage! Although that gene skipped me to my nephew (my dad would have been chuffed as nuts that his grandson had taken up his trade). I was going to try my hand at being a sparky next and fit some spots in the boy's room. But just as I geared up to do it by YouTubing the fuck out of it, the electrician got back to me and is fitting them today. I was told to stand down.

Circles are tricky 😁 Just need to paint the inner ring blue and sort out a scoreboard and a few other bits and it’ll be flinging time.

It's definitely not quite spot on, tbh.
But in fairness, we're going to throw sharp bits of steel at it and it's going to be getting messed up, so close enough will do. 😁

Also got a worrying pressure loss on my boiler, not much, just dips from 1 bar into red over the course of a week. Done all the DIY checks, but can't find any water loss. Worried its buried under a floor or in a wall now... Same story, can't find anyone to come help diagnose it. Late, but have you checked the pressure in the expansion vessel? We were dropping pressure steadily and needed to get another one fitted. Leaks like that would generally leave marks as they'd be serious. A plumber can check and recharge it. If it happens again, it'll confirm what the issue is.

Yep expansion vessel issue was one of contributors to loss of pressure in our boiler. Left it for too long tbh and ended up costing a grand to fix the fucker :/

Yeah, someone did say that to me, but I only had it serviced a few months ago (and do yearly) , and when I first moved in, April last year, I had to have Worcester Bosch look as it as I had a leak from my overflow and I think they replaced it then.
My biggest worry is I just had my garage converted and we had a radiator put in there, so I have nightmares about it leaking underneath the floor or in the wall.
Might be a coincidence though. Anyway, I have a plumber finally coming out next Friday, so hopefully they'll be able diagnose the problem.

dogbot genuine curious, are the wee green circles decorative or part of some semi official scoring system?

Yeah, expansion vessel problems were the cause of an issue a few years ago with my old boiler. Plumber ended up sticking one on the outside of the boiler as it was cheaper than a bespoke part for a failing boiler.
My mum's is also struggling and I can't see the issue either so will have to get someone in.

I still need to tidy up the ground where the dog has dug up the wood chip, lay down the rest of the slabs and get them even and put some matted straw around the edge of the target but other than that... ready. It's not competition standard, but it should be fun enough for me and the Mrs.

I like your garden - looks very neat!
My concern with the green targets is if you aim for one but miss high, they are very close to the top of the board. Damaged axe, damaged brick wall?

I've got some straw that's been cut to shape and tied and I'll put a double layer around the top of the target, which should protect the wall. Unfortunately, there'll be some inevitable knife damage but they're only £20 odd a set.

Bit worried about the location of your gate... "Let's pop round to check what those funny noises are round dogbot's..." It's got a code lock on the outside and a deadbolt on the inside, plus there's no public access anywhere nearby. We're up a private lane which is the only way in and out. The only neighbour is fully aware of what we're doing.

Started building a fingerboard half pipe for my lad yesterday, having promised I'd make it about a year ago, thought it might be an afternoon job, day and a half later I'm still not finished! Kinda making it up as I go along, some very dark tones emanating from Mrs Mercury as to what 'important' DIY I could have achieved in that time.

My current drill is failing me drilling into my internal walls so looking to get an SDS/SDS Plus. For occasional home use is there any reason to spend more than the £75 Bosch is asking for its low-end corded model? Not fussed about cordless.

I am sure that'll be just fine... although cordless drills, like vacuum cleaners, are absolute game changers imo. Appreciate the step up in price is significant though.

Yep £75 for an SDS you probably can't go wrong though I imagine that will definitely be aimed at a DIYer rather than trade so be a bit wary. I only paid £101 for a Makita. I would add that apart from a cordless drill (not an SDS) I think I'd find cordless rarely useful but then 99% of stuff I do is within easy reach of power supply. I guess having bought a crazy length heavy duty extension cable about 30 years ago helps. I guess it depends how often you use stuff, for example I might use my belt sander eight times in a month and then not touch it for a year, cordless just isn't the sensible option in that scenario.

Check HUKD - there's always a drill on sale somewhere, and the comments are usually helpful.
