FRAUD And DECEPTION!
Okay, silly title aside, Karl here is a pretty great watch if you're at all interested in new developments in speed running classic games (he's a Goldeneye speed runner) or some of the deeper video game lore out there. He's pretty no-nonsense and interesting and he's starting to earn some genuine journalism chops with pretty solid investigations that take months of research for his deeper dives into this and that, whether it's Minecraft speed running bullshit or King of Kong/Con stuff, which has landed him a lawsuit with Billy Mitchell.
This is a step above that and has further reaching connotations than just price fixing rare video games. Interesting watch.

Ha! Was tempted to post this earlier and I didn't. It's a really good watch. Huge fan of his stuff. The guy really does his research as you say. If anyone hasn't watched it yet, get on it.

Cheers, definitely gonna check that out.
I fuckin' hate grading companies, they ruined the comics collecting market and now they're doing the same for games.

That was a pretty interesting watch. I'm amazed at how adept these people are at staying out of the jail cells they clearly belong in.
I have a lot of redundancy in my collection where I'd end up with both a PAL and NTSC version of a title for instance and I'd sell off the sealed one that never got played years later, without fail I'd be messaged by somebody asking me for full a inventory of sealed games I own looking to buy the lot. I think the ground work was already being done as long as 5-10 years ago.

Imagine if Eurogamer had an article like this, rather than parroting a press release and not reviewing games.

Yeah, I watched it this morning and thought it was really well made. Makes a lot of sense as to why prices are suddenly sky-rocketing!

I'm trying to pick his accent. It sounds mostly Australian, but there's an edge to it that I can't place.

Cheers, definitely gonna check that out. I fuckin' hate grading companies, they ruined the comics collecting market and now they're doing the same for games. Same, they're an utter parasite on TCGs, comics, games.

So yeah - this is completely bent then isn’t it? And will go the way of the Coin bubble as he points out. But yeah - fraud going on here.

Interesting vid, would benefit from some heavy editing.
There's 30 minutes of salient information stretched out to an hour.

Well, it looks like this storm isn't just going to blow over for WATA.
All the while, competing grading services are coming out of the woodwork so this isn't going away even if one company gets knocked out.
If anybody wants competitive grading, throw me £20 and I'll seal your game in a zip-lock bag and label it 99.99 or whatever you want.
