I like the list because some of these games I haven't played but I'd rather own them physically. I can see Returnal for example dropping way down in price now.

Yeah, decent list of games but I've played pretty much everything on there I wanted to (apart from Demon's Souls). Time will tell if they keep adding to it or that list just stagnates. Hopefully they start to bulk up the classics list pretty aggressively! This is where I'm at, decent enough library but I've either played or already own anything of interest. Like you said I think time will tell how well it fares. You have to let these services provide value by abstaining past a certain point. I used to jump on everything on Xbox for example, only to then find it hitting Game Pass 3-6 months later. I've got much better at being patient more recently and letting the service pay for itself more. Will be interesting to see how often and how new the additional titles added to the service over time are. Agree with this. There are a couple of titles I'd want to play on the list, over and above those I already own but it's still relatively slim pickings. Need to see how it shapes up in 6 months time to see if it's worth upgrading once my ps+ runs out. My instinct is that it won't be.

I'm of that same belief. Most of the big games I own or have played, as far as we know they're not going to be doing day one releases for first party or third party. The classics will surely get a bump in number over time but I don't see them as a draw and the PS3 stuff is just streaming and doesn't really appeal to me. Big standard PS plus for me then.

Aye me as well. All the games on those lists I've wanted to play, I've played. I don't even play plus games most of the time. I would rather an even lower priced option for just playing online. I do grudge paying for playing online, but if they're going to make me, at least give me an option without all the trash games they keep shoving down my fat throat every month.

I do expect 3rd party day one releases after Shadow Warrior 3 did it.
I think it's alright. Not as good as GP but still decent. For us, not so much, as like most of you I already own or have played most of the big ones, but for the millions of people that only buy 3 games a year it's going to be absolutely fine.

Oh yeah, and if you've never even touched a playstation then yeah its value will be ridiculous.

Installed a second SSD last night.
That was...ridiculously easy. Now I can fit even more games on that I'll never get around to playing.

Just read the psone versions are PAL. Just...why? From what I can gather it's most likely a language thing, but then at the same time some games like Tekken 2 are NTSC. Sony as usual are baffling when it comes to this stuff, but the PS Mini had the same issue.

I wish there were more card games on PlayStation. Take roguelike deck-builders, for example - it's a niche genre to begin with, then you've got the fact that many games therein aren't on PS at all (e.g. Inscryption and Monster Train), or only come to PS as digital releases (e.g. Griftlands and Nowhere Prophet). Aside from Slay the Spire (more on that below!), the only physical PS releases of games in this genre (insofar as I'm aware) are One Step from Eden and Hand of Fate 2, both of which are expensive and/or limited edition imports. And that's not even taking account of the non-roguelike card games, which once again either skip PlayStation altogether (e.g. Hearthstone et al) or come out in digital-only form (e.g. the recent Voice of Cards releases from Square Enix). Anyway, Slay the Spire is awesome. If you didn't grab it when it was free with PS+ last month, the physical PS4 version is only £5.99 at Amazon right now, which is insanely good value for money.

Speaking of card games, I would love there to be a new Magic The Gathering game on consoles. Still play Duels 2015 on my phone.

Tbh I did think they'd pull something like this with the way they said that you could 'easily' upgrade your existing sub. Of course, by charging you the full sum.

Can only assume half of the comments there are somehow defending Sony? Push Square I like, the comments not so much.

Ha, and here was me hoping there'd actually be a nice upgrade path for existing Plus members.

Back charging a discounted base Plus sub to full amount before letting you pay for an upgrade though? I doubt that would stand up in court.

Sony as usual are baffling when it comes to this stuff, but the PS Mini had the same issue. I wish they would just make this choice an option, choose 60hz English or pick European languages and get your 50hz version. They never do sensible things though so not getting my hopes up...

My girlfriend just managed to get a PS5 through that PSN account sign-up thing, we both got the email on Monday saying orders would open Tuesday between 9:30 and 11, like they're selling tickets to a massive gig or something.
When we logged in, the queue time on mine said an hour and hers 30 mins, though I think it only took about 5 mins for her and 10 for me and they were still available by the time I got on (we only bought 1 of course).
Anyway even with standard delivery it's due to arrive today... The one day I'm in the office...
Game suggestions please! I skipped a bunch of exclusives at the end of last gen so currently have this list:
Death Stranding Ghosts of Tsushima Deathloop Horizon Forbidden West Gran Turismo 7 Final Fantasy 7

Play AstroBot and Platinum it, then move onto Returnal and don't think about anything until you have finised that and it's consumed your soul.
And add Ratchet & Clank to your list.

Demon's Souls Another vote for Returnal
In terms of non-exclusives, Elden Ring (obviously) and Hades.

Last of Us 2 if you haven't played it... especially now it has 60fps mode. Seconded (and part 1, if you haven't played it). Just finished it last night and it is an excellent game. Returnal has already been suggested, but another excellent game. Demon's Souls is also a real showpiece for the next-gen, although understandably isn't for everyone.
