If it were a choice between the PS5 and Series S, I’d definitely keep the PS5. The PlayStation has games I actually want to play - I’m currently very much enjoying Ghost of Tsushima and have pre-ordered Horizon Forbidden West. Death Stranding is also on my list. Xbox… I will play and most probably enjoy Halo Infinite and Forza Horizon 5 but neither would be on top of my list if they weren’t “free” (not free). I tend to find myself playing stuff because it’s there, and have started, played a couple of times and not gone back to far too many games. That’s fine - it’s one of the reasons a sub is a nice business model - but it feel like the difference between passing the time and Taking My Hobby Seriously. I like Taking My Hobby Seriously. I knew I thought something and, yep- it’s this. I dont’ care for most Xbox exclusives, or EA, have tried a fair number of Gamepass games, played for twenty minutes and then deleted them and actually stuck with about two since getting an S at launch. I sort of snatch game time on the Xbox while setting time aside and going for “quality” with what’s on the PS5. Gamepass has only been good value for me so far because I used the trick and paid so little. There’s no way in hell I’d pay near to full price. |

I've tried repeatedly to play the last one but it's just a bit shit. Suckerpunch's last game was possibly my favourite of the last gen though so they're definitely getting better.

Delsin (?) was just such a shit main character, but it was still an enjoyable enough romp. Loved the neon powers of the standalone DLC too. Colour me interested, anyway.

I was hoping their next game would be another GOT, I'm guessing this was already in development as otherwise it would have been as it sold so well.

I feel like it's always been an ok series but never felt as if it reached the standard of what a Sony first party studio game is supposed to represent. GoT is probably their most polished and accomplished work so far.

It's the only one I've actually played but o just didn't like the way it handled at all. Something just felt off with it. I tried it recently again after the 60fps patch and still didn't get on with it. Looked pretty though.

Yeah, I thought all the Infamous games were a bit underwhelming. Looked like they should have been way more entertaining than they actually were.

I found the animation to be somewhat janky, things like jumping never felt right, it just looked odd. It was always billed as having parkour movement but that never came across in actual gameplay.

Movement in second son was pretty good I thought, you could absolutely belt it around the city. My main issue was the repetition, but it certainly won't stop me playing another.
Spiderman has upped the bar for hero games though so will be interesting to see how it weighs inagainst it.

I have fond memories of the first infamous, especially playing it twice with the split in good and evil powers making it play (a little) differently. Not so much the PS4 one as it seemed more like a rushed tech demo.

Will there be a smaller PS5 out do we reckon at some point? I'd like to switch to PS from Xbox on this generation I think but (apart from supply issues atm) the PS5 in it's current guise is extraordinarily ugly IMO. I'm in no hurry really, I'm happy to play games that are a few years old and pay peanuts.

Remember the crappy old Star Wars figures with the plastic capes? It kind of looks like a Darth Vader with the cape swapped for Leia's. I know what I mean anyway. |

You can get black faceplates which reduce its hideous visage about 300%.
That said, I plastidipped mine with a spare can of matte black I had in the garage cuz im ghetto like that and you can get that for like 11 quid.

Well I have to say it does look a much less hideous in a black case instead, hmmm I actually wonder if my (sometimes) unobservant wife might not actually notice it if I exchanged a black PS5 for the dusty PS3 that currently resides in the TV stand? Stupid pesky kids would probably grass me up/spill the beans anyway.

Oh, so there is. I can't justify buying a 3rd controller at the moment though. I will wait until there is a decent pad with paddles at the back before getting another ps5 controller as I don't love the pad.

Think I mentioned before that I was thinking if buying a second controller just to have one so that I could send the original off to be repaired when it inevitably breaks. In hindsight I probably don't play it enough for that to happen, as tempting as a black controller is.
I need to give my controller a good clean again actually. It seems to look filthy after no time at all due to those micro button logos all over it. Never had it with other white controllers...
