I think Returnal needs to be binged really. You need to be in that zone that only comes with hours of concentrated play to get through it.

Maybe I just find the prospect of playing a game that hinges on the notion that Things Are Trying To Get Me a bit much for bingeing...

Like, God of War is much more bingeable. It's sort of like comfort viewing; brain off, no real need for reflexes, just look at the pretty and mash the buttons so that pleasingly brutal things happen.

I found one of them recently. Noped out as I was deep into a nice bottle of red at the time.

I loved Returnal. It feels oppressive at times, but it’s true that after a while you get into the zone and just dance your way through encounters. When you find that weapon roll that tilts the odds in your favour just enough, it’s magnificent.
I’ve had a pretty long break but am still tempted to go back and try to get the Platinum trophy. I did the “true” ending but only fully completed 2 out of the 6 levels. One day…

I thought Returnal was easier than GoW as well. Ha. Also I find it easier to zone out with Returnal, it's very hypnotic. You almost feel yourself detaching and going to a fuzzy warm place as you're playing it.
I really should get back to the Tower of Sisyphus...

I don't know if it gets easier, but I couldn't play GoW 1 on anything higher than the second difficulty during the opening couple of hours. The 3rd difficulty out of 4 (which I would normally find about right) gives enemies far too much health and you die within a couple of hits. Honestly, I found it frustrating rather than pleasingly challenging. 2nd difficulty was a bit easy though, particularly for the main content. Valkyries still seem a step up in difficult (beat 2 and faced 3) and some other side content is tricky, but feels mostly fairly chill.
Personally, could have done with another difficulty somewhere between the 2nd and 3rd one.
Didn't find Returnal too hard, besides the 3rd biome. The flying homing things in particular were a pain in the arse.

Got a bit of drift on the left thumb stick, keeps moving to the left slightly. Any easy way of fixing this or am I better off getting a new controller?

Cleaning up has npknever worked for me. On my third now, all suffered from it with latest one only 2 months old so sent in for warranty repair, for some reason have no expectation that they’ll fix it.

If anyone else with a lapsed sub was having trouble with that $40 off ps+ deal, I rechecked it for the umpteenth time and it’s finally working.

Fixed mine by taking it apart and giving the potentiometer a good spray with contact cleaner then worked the stick around a bit, let it dry then repeated. It's been fine since.

Having to take it apart scares me. Try even just wiggling the stick a lot and spraying contact cleaner around it as you do so it works underneath. Not a PS5 controller but I did that to the boy's switch and it sorted the drift without me ever having to actually take it apart.

Does it matter if its already fucked? Might as well give it a go. I replaced the trigger spring on one of mine and it was pretty easy.

I didn't need one at the time but kind of wish I'd jumped on that Currys BF deal to have a spare ready to go (well, another spare seeing as I have two already...)
Wonder if there are any stats for controller returns, as between Nintendo and Sony it seems to be the most common fault for the new consoles by far.

Think I need to see if Sony will fix my DS5, the R2 keeps sticking, thought it had fixed itself but it has started playing up again... What happened to controllers that last?

Cleaned the stick like suggested in the videos and it's improved it. There's still a slight drift but nowhere near as bad. Still annoying enough for me to buy a new one, but once I notice something like that I can't unsee it.

Is the 'hours played' feature of the PS5 still not working consistently?
My most recently-played game always says that I last played it an hour ago - even if mere seconds have elapsed since I quit the program - and the number of hours played has been stuck at 25 for several days, now.

For the players indeed. They really like to project the image of not giving a shit about their consumers.

Is this really that bad? More advanced thing in taking slight more power shocker? If it's half the battery life, that's shocking. If it's single digit percentage it's possibly a non-issue?
