Yeah, after orphaning the games I got for PSVR1 there's no way I'm picking that up day 1 or indeed until it's clear that it's both well supported in the present and has a future. The Index cost me a lot more on PC but it also worked with everything I'd already bought.
Disappointed to see that the pack with Horizon is another 40 quid on top of that; given they're starting from zero I'd have hoped for something like that to be demonstration software to help soften the blow of the price.

News must have dropped too late to get an Australian price on it. Sounds like it will cost more than the console!

Only 2 and a half Dualsense Elite controllers. Bargain.

Already said it here, but if it has PC support than it will be an instant buy for me. I would even be pre-ordering if they announced official support. I would sell my Vive too, which likely would get me a good chunk of the cost of the PSVR2.
Without that support, I can't see myself jumping in until someone inevitable makes a hack for it to work on PC. Even then, if it is a fudge that only half works I probably won't bother.
If there is no way of it working on PC than I don't think I can justify it. There would have to be a lot of games coming to PSVR for me to think about owning it and it seemed support for the original was a bit lacklustre after the initial few releases.
Price-wise, it is about what we should have expected. I was thinking £500, so an extra £30 isn't that surprising. Considering the tech and the cost of the competitors, any less than this was always going to be a pipedream.

Expected, but that's a nope from me. If there was guaranteed back-compat I'd probably consider it, but seeing as they've said no to that, I really can't justify having two PSVR headsets in the house! Same here. The boy wants one and I've told him.iy would be approx £500, so he'd better get saving...

Here’s hoping they pull a Half-Life AL3X port out of a hat to save the day.
I’ll be waiting for a sale and a lot of reviews though.

The price of a brand new console for something I'm not sure I'll play a lot of. That's made my mind up to wait until it's been out years and discounted.

Yeah, I really need to see the uptake on this before I drop that much money on it.

I'm not expecting PC support as it's connecting to the PS5 with a single cable for video, power and data. There was a standard for that on PC called VirtualLink but nobody ever used it - even Valve couldn't get it working. If anyone does make it work it'll involve a dock or hub to get what I assume is DisplayPort Alt Mode into the headset from your graphics card, the requisite amount of power into the HMD and then the data connection with the PC itself.

After spending that much I'd then have to buy the actual software on top. No from me until the hardware drops in price and the software has some decent sales.

It connects into a PS5 via the USB-C, so should be fine to connect into a PC. The issues with making it work will be software related. I'm sure Sony could officially support it if they wanted to, but I expect they would have already said if they were going to.

If I was going to drop that kind of wonga on a VR setup, I'd want it to work on PC too.
I have a feeling I'd be champing at the bit to buy this if I'd actually experienced modern VR, but it's just not the kind of thing you impulse buy without trying out first.

Oh, it's 600 euros in conversion. Now I'm definitely waiting, don't get me wrong I always knew it would be pricey I just never thought more than the console but here we are.

I don't agree with that, at least on the desktop side. USB-C is a complete disaster on desktop and there's no way that a company like Sony would even consider supporting it. It genuinely is a hardware issue: the USB-C port on your average motherboard can't carry the video signal from your graphics card because they only work for onboard graphics, so you would have to split the cable into three (like on something like the Index) for power, video and data.
My X570 motherboard has 'VR Ready' USB ports but that's intended for something like the Oculus Quest over their cable link (which transmits compressed video and uses the onboard ARM SoC to decode it quickly so it works over USB-A). If I plug my USB-C monitor into the USB-C port I get nothing. In fact, for all the 'VR Ready' bragging, I still had to buy a separate USB card for my Index to play nicely with it because of AMD's USB implementation.
Having a laptop nicely sidesteps that because they're designed with the intention that even if they have discrete graphics they may be plugged into a USB-C monitor so they could do all that stuff in one cable but I don't think the market would be there for Sony to release a driver.

Not a chance at that price. Shave 300 quid off a year or so down the line and I might bite.

£300 I could get to eventually, even if not day 1. But £500 is mad.

I'd probably buy it at that price if it were guaranteed to be a success, but it's a hard of amount of money to let go of on speculative hope support will be strong.
Day One, then.

I can't see it being £300 for a long time, if ever. It's using extremely expensive tech and comes with 2 extremely expensive looking controllers.

Why does it need a price cut? If anything it needs a price bump, look at how premium it is, we should be grateful to suckle at the teat of Sony.

Honestly, I just assumed all modern GPUs had USB-C connections. Just checked and my 2080 Super doesn't! Ah, that does make official support pretty much guaranteed to not happen (didn't expect it to) and any hacks to be an almighty pain in the arse to sort. So, definitely won't be getting one then.

About what I was expecting. Maybe even a little cheaper. You were adamant it wouldn’t be less than £600, but ok

Yeah - they tried to solve that with VirtualLink (my 2080 has one but my 3080 doesn't, even though they're both EVGA FTW3 models). The intention was that you'd plug a headset into a USB-C port your graphics card and it'd all just work, just like PSVR2.
Valve tried to make an adapter for the Index but they ended up cancelling it after about a year of delays and basically said that it was a combination of support from manufacturers and the fact they couldn't get it to reliably work that was to blame. It's a shame as even on my big desktop PC it would have saved me a plug because it would provide power, and it would hopefully have meant I didn't need to buy a PCIE card with separate USB ports in.

That Horizon game is probably going to wind up swinging it for me. I enjoyed exploring in those far more than I did the actual gameplay bits, so a theme park version in VR is going to be hard to miss out on.

Is this the first time since Steel Battalion that a peripheral has cost more than the console you need to play it?

A new PC is my top priority next year, so dropping £500+ on PSVR isn't going to happen.
