Personally, I want paddles (and dead-stop triggers) for competitive shooters (hence the Scuf purchase). I know of people that want paddles to combat hand strain. This should be the highest quality and cheapest serious option on the platform. That gives it value to a couple of audiences.
The Xbox Elite is a really nice controller (again, at £160). Pretty sure it sells fairly well too. Once you get used to having them it’s hard going back. If you don’t care then it’s no bother.

How is it I still can't buy a feckin PS5*! off the shelf or from the big online stores. I probably should not have sold mine at start of year but even so, I want one in time for God of War, even worse I "mugged" my PS4 off when I bought the 5. My most up to date playstation is the 3, laughably it has GTAV in the drive, how is that game so old!!! *As in the standard model for £480, not the £600/£700+ bundles. Pull your finger out Mr Sony! You can literally buy it from Sony themselves for RRP right now. direct.playstation.com/en-gb/buy-consoles/playstation5-consoleJust ordered one. Cheers mate...so I will have it up for sale early next year

I don't understand the triggers thing. I have an Elite 2 and I hate them. Takes away the analog-ness, and in this case, it'll remove the DualSense's biggest seller, the haptics. By that point, you might as well be using a Switch controller.

You don’t want trigger travel. Most people don’t want rumble or haptics at all either. My Scuf has mouse-click triggers and no rumble. Getting the first shot of gives you an advantage. Paddles help with movement (jump and crouch) so that you don’t need to take your thumb off the stick.
For anything SP I’ll use a normal Dual Sense. For anything I’d like to try to win at, I’m using the Scuf. Unfortunately, age isn’t helping with the latter.

The triggers help loads for FPS games for the same reason that a lot of people switch fire onto bumpers rather than triggers.

Surely any serious competitive player uses a PC and K&M?!

Does The Medium get any less shit at any point? Or is it just walking about and pressing square every now and again until the end?

There are some excellent moments in the game that they landed really well. But if the atmosphere isn’t grabbing you yet there’s probably no point persisting. I enjoyed it, in a B-Movie kinda way.

Well shit. My PS5 has died.
No reason for it - it hasn’t moved from under the telly and was switched off (Rest mode) prior, so won’t have overheated or anything.
It beeps, blue light comes on for half a second and it sounds like the fan is trying but failing to spin up… and then nothing. It goes dead. Pressing the power button again beeps but feels like it’s shutting down again.
Tried resets, unplugging it for a while, removing the cover and clearing the dust (of which there was hardly any) but still no joy.
Sony want £240 for a repair as it’s out of warranty (launch day machine so not even 2 years old!)
Any advice appreciated but I fear I’m going to have to suck it up and pay. £240 is a bit rich!!

Sorry to hear that. Mine's been making more noise than usual lately, so J hope it doesn't suffer a similar fate.

Cheers guys.
I’m just looking into my consumer rights - potentially arguing that it was of unsatisfactory quality (having failed so soon) so the retailer - Amazon in my case - is responsible for repair or replacement.
Got to be worth a shot…

Waiting for someone to make the case that £240 is actually good value for a repair as some people will happily pay out.

Get your pitchforks at the ready because it's £284 for an Xbox repair. Absolute baby killers.

Well, kudos to Amazon - just got off the phone to their customer support and they will allow me to return it for a full refund of the £449.99 I paid!
Bit of a bummer the price has gone up now! Apparently Amazon can’t just provide a replacement… bugger. Still, it’s a lot less than £240 for a repair.
I feel a little less bad now…

They make £14,500 a second apparently so it's understandable that they can say fuck it on a £500 refund.

Yeah, I remember when I got my first PS vita and it had dead pixels. I sent a CS message asking if they had a policy on it and they just gave me an RMA replacement immediately. As long as you’re a regular customer and don’t abuse it I think they’re happy enough because it all evens out and if too many come back they can blacklist the manufacturer (like when they stopped selling the 3DS because of the self-scratching screen design).

I was a bit miffed having to buy my Series X from Amazon (only place that had stock) instead of John Lewis or somewhere that offers free extended guarantees on electronics, but it sounds like I might not be completely up the creek if it dies. Good to know.

Could you not claim on house insurance even without an accident that broke it? Sometimes I wonder what house insurance is actually for. It never seems to cover anything.

I tried whining last night about my earbuds (proving a pain to charge and less than 2 years old) but they weren't having a bar of it. Asked me to put a ticket in with Sony and they'll consider it if they don't help.

No because that comes under electronics wear and tear and they'd refer you to your warranty with manufacturer/who you purchased from. All a bit of a con so accidental claim is a way to con them a bit.

After advice from here on where to buy the Playstation, I got my PS5 direct from Sony, ordered on Wed arrived on Friday
