Submerged 1 was good. Very simplified 'tomb raiding' with zero risk/combat, and a great melancholy vibe. Hopefully 2 is good as well. Gah, I didn't realise it was Submerged 2 that was free - thought it must be some complete pack S1 - and didn't claim it.

It was only put up on Thursday, so still available. I just bookmarked the below and set a reminder every Thursday at 6 to grab the latest freebie. store.epicgames.com/en-US/free-games

2k have just added their own stupid launcher to a bunch of those games on the bundle, which apparently makes them unplayable on the steam deck. I suppose it's only £13 but it'd be annoying to find out they won't play.

H&D2 is a blast! Though I regret not having a full-size keyboard to access the Action Menu with the numpad. Supposedly its on the apostrophe, but nothing happens

Heh. I've just been trying to find a gaming keyboard *without* a numpad, and wondering "Why do they all have numpads, surely no-one uses those??" Though of course back in the day we needed every key available. To get back on track, does this link work for people to get one month free of ubisoft+ ? It doesn't seem available in Japan (as usual). store.ubi.com/eu/ubisoftplusThough, looking through their catalogue, I couldn't really find any games I wanted to play (except old ones I already own like Prince of Persia)

There's absolutely loads of keyboards without numpads out there if you search for TKL.
I kind of like the idea, but WFH so just couldn't cope without.

I used my numpad quite a bit habitually. Not so much in games but in general.
It's not that I wouldn't be able to cope but for the sake of aesthetics it seems pointless to lose it.

Bill in the rain Yes that promotion is on for everyone until early October, also the slighlty more expensive version that includes cloud play over Stadia.

Ubisoft+ is awesome if you can plough through a game in a couple of weeks and be done with it. Will keep an eye on that link for whenever Mirage launches, as I just can't be arsed with FC6 and nothing else appeals.
/edit Ah, bugger. October. Guess I'll give it a go for FC6 after all.

Ark: Survival Evolved and Gloomhaven are both free via Epic this week. Gloomhaven is a great game, absolutely superb, and less than a year old.
If anyone is planning on playing it right away (as if), remember to set the Campaign difficulty to EASY. It is rock hard, and one of those games that becomes easier as your characters skill up. The first few fights are tough.

I bought Gloomhaven ages ago and haven't actually played yet. Was planning to co-op with a friend, but decided to hold off until the campaign came out and then never actually played it! Could have held off and got it for free. Is that the classic X-Com? I wouldn't mind giving those a go, if still available. I think I have all of the newer X-Com, excluding the expansion of 2 and the standalone one last released, so will leave for someone else if it is that.

Shadow of Mordor is basically Assassin's Creed - Tolkien so you could argue it's two AC games.

I just checked and they've apparently given me 9 Assassin's creed games. Ac2 sounded great and I played about 2 hours of it before kinda drifting away.
Shadow Of Mordor's setting sounds interesting (but then so did Ac2's), and the nemesis system sounds kinda fun. The protagonist and story sound a bit naff (like Ac2)

oh no, the setting in Mordor is anything BUT interesting. It's not like you're traversing Middle Earth or anything. There's basically two locations from what I remember. Black volcanic crag land and suddenly a grassy field.
It's one of the worst games I've spent money on and completed, tbh. And I love me an AC game.

Well free is free, we're all obligated to at least claim it, even if we never play it.

It's hard to argue with Spooky's description of the environments in Shadow of Mordor, but I do think the gameplay is actually pretty solid and fun.
The stealth is simple, but about as good as AC, and whilst most of the gameplay rips off AC, the melee combat rips off Arkham Asylum, so I found it quite fun when you literally get into the ryhthym.
That said the story is cack and the characters are forgettable. And I can't say the nemesis system really did much for me, it seems kinda neat but didn't really change the game much. But if you just want to murder orcs it's decent in short bursts

The nemesis system is fun for the first hour, until you keep encountering the same orcs, but this time with immunity to however you've killed them before. Which sounds exciting at first. Until late game, when're supposed to take down an orc leader but he's immune to everything. Melee, back stabs, grabs, pouncing from above, poison tips, arrow shots, mounted attacks.. and you're just mildly chipping away at a boss lifebar while you get surrounded.
