He's returned. I went through a period of loathing Dan but that was a pretty good reveal.

Seriously big change there alright. Wonder what is next for Jeff. Dan being back ensures that I continue to listen to the Bombcast anyway.

Listening to Jeff right now on Twitch. I’m not sure about it yet, he’s done plenty of relaxed chatty solo stuff before (ie while clearing out his garage), but I’m not sure I like it enough to follow a regular podcast of it. There’s a reason most podcasts are at least 2 people talking, if it’s one person you’re either listening to an audiobook and following the narrative, or they *really* have to hold your attention.

Thing is Jeff is quite a knowledgeable guy and decent to listen to but he did hog the bombcast a little bit. Will listen to this week's tomorrow and see how it is with the changes.

Yeah, watching it on YouTube now and then or seeing clips through the best of videos you could see him being a little annoyed when others had the mic for longer than 10 seconds.
Jan seems to make an effort to get everyone involved throughout.
One of the things I've missed the most from GB since covid was the E3 interviews which Jeff was anyways great at.

Cheapest tier on Jeff’s Patreon is $4pm and he already has over 5k patrons in less than 24 hours. Dude is going to be loaded.

I saw a tweet yesterday that reflects my thoughts. Basically “So we’re paying for each fucker piecemeal now?”.

I wish nextlander would play some new games.
Vinny streams mostly old games by himself and Alex is playing Mass Effect Andromeda despite sitting through Vinnys play with GB and Brad does nothing.
I am happy GB are going back to quick looks and who knows maybe even return to a studio as it looked like a few of them filmed yesterday's video together. It's just not the same with them doing stuff over video.

Wow this Magic Spoon ad in Jeff’s new podcast seems to be going on FOREVER. Not sure if it’s actually longer than other podcast ads or another symptom of one-guy-talking but Jeez

Bombcast had that as well. Some of the ads went on for ages especially the one for men with trouble getting it up.
Just Jeff talking for about 5 minutes about it.

They were great before the coast split, when it was Jeff and Vinny and the small business man. This one was a highlight.

Ok fair play, that one’s pretty funny. Maybe Jeff just needs to find his new groove for his own podcast. (Or maybe I need to pay for ad-free).
I might actually be warming to the podcast, I’d only heard the last hour or so when it was live yesterday. There’s some good reminiscing and he sounds genuinely thrilled when he hits 3000 Patreon subscribers live on the show (it’s well over over 5k now). Guess anyone would be thrilled to get that much per month, but it must still be a bit scary leaving a salaried job for it.

I'm sure he is doing ok from the sale of giant bomb anyway.
Will be interesting to see if he can keep those subs if he leaves it as just him doing his podcast. Although he can probably have access to some really good guests should he want to.

The biggest bummer for GB for me is since covid when they weren't in 1 studio. That and the on-site e3 coverage which could get fucking hilarious. You just don't get the same energy.
Part if the reason I could never get on with Nextlander, they're all better in one place and I find all 3 of them a bit too nice and safe. Whereas with the Beastcast they had (for better or for worse) Dan and Bombcast Brad had Jeff- complete opposites, worked brilliantly together.
That said I could listen to Jeff talk shit until the cows come home. Watching / listening to him in his garage was cathartic.

Yeah as I mentioned above I'm hoping we finally get some stuff with them back in the studio as it's just so much better with them in the same room.
Wouldn't be surprised if we start getting cross over shows with them, Nextlander and Waypoint.

I’ve lost track of all the podcasts tbh, I mean how many are there if you start including the will&brad techpod and tested?

I know they did one joint stream for the For the Kids charity but Jeff was absent from that so pretty interesting that they have 2 of the Nextlander guys on so soon after Jeff leaves GB.

I saw a tweet yesterday that reflects my thoughts. Basically “So we’re paying for each fucker piecemeal now?”. I love the idea of paying artists and creators directly but I know I could never keep up with the cost and spreadsheet needed to manage all the ones I’d potentially be subscribing to.

The recent C&C lock-in on Tabletop RPGs has Jim Rossignol on it (RPS-in-peace), but he sounds nothing like i expected I always took him as being a bit scary and no-nonsense, kind of like RPS's own boss/enforcer. But he sounds like a relaxed friendly guy!!

I really like Triple Click. Just has a nice vibe to it, and they've introduced me to lots of great games (and more than a few books, TV series etc as well).

I like the VG247 podcast. Jim Trinca and Tom Orry are grumpy old gits but they’re funny, and it’s a good format where they choose a different (silly)topic each week and then argue for the best game that demonstrates it. The other guests are good too, and it’s only 30-40 minutes a week so not a huge time commitment.

Cane and Rinse for me, it's pretty dry but I'm not really interested in a comedic slant for my gaming podcast tastes.
