Pretty shit result. Sevilla were absolutely wank for most of the match too, and our forwards didn't make anywhere near the most of it.
Two more injuries, Bruno out of the 2nd leg. Going out of this might not be the worst tbh, with the state of the squad currently.

We never kill games off despite having the chances too. It's doesn't help the players workload they have to keep fighting until the final whistle.

That was about as bad a last 10 minutes as you'll see. The injury the biggest issue. Next week is going to be a real challenge but Sevilla are so poor that if we have a half competent game next week we should be able to see it out.

I'd rather we focused on Europa league and secure a CL spot that way. With Maguire and Lindelof then really, we have our work cut out for us to even maintain top 4.

Malacia is the worst left back we have had in 20 years, absolute dog shite.
Sabitzer needs to be signed and our players need to shown how to spot a decent footballer who makes great runs and scores goals. He made so many runs last night that our thick as mince players couldn’t see. Mainly sancho and that greedy git Anthony

Malacias young enough, I can accept a few mistakes as he progresses. He's not gonna replace Shaw, but he's also not worse than Telles.
Sabitzer is quality tho, I do hope this talk of him also being eager for a full signing does come to pass.

We made some dodgy subs in hindsight but it was a bit of a freak result really. We've generally been very good at keeping a lead this season. Disappointing given how poor Sevilla looked but it happens.

The result isn't really the worry, it's the injuries to key players in a tired squad.
Especially Martinez, hopefully it's nothing too serious.

I don't know if Malacia is better than Telles. Could get better certainly, as he's young and Telles is 30. Telles set pieces probably boost him a lot, as he might be the best in the club at them.

Malacia was poor but he'll have games like that. He's been decent this season, he's got quality but not his best day. He made one particularly poor call/gamble and it backfired in the worst way imaginable. You'd hope he'll learn from that. He's been nothing less than decent this season imo. |
