Just ordered the Ace Attorney Chronicles for Switch, had no idea this was coming until reading the Edge review. The Phoenix Wright/Apollo Justice series is possibly my favourite ever, I never got into the spin offs though. Hopefully this is more like PW than the Layton crossover, i binned that after a few hours

There were 3 PW games on the DS, followed by Apollo Justice which was essentially a reskinned PW game, the two more PW on the 3DS
The spin off were 2 Miles Edgeworth investigates and the Layton one, then these two Great Ace Attorney historical setting ones

Phoenix was still one of the main characters, you just played as Apollo. None of the mechanics changed, it set the scene for the following two Phoenix Wright games where you play one of 3 different characters at various times. I don’t see it as a spin off myself, not like the Investigates and Layton ones where they aren’t really the same game

I should try and find my Ace Attorney II. I bought the Japanese one since it had english as an option. Never got around to finish it.

Yeah, Apollo is basically PW4. The Edgeworth and Great Ace Attorney games are the spinoffs (plus the Layton crossover which I enjoyed at the time). I have just played through AJ and most of Edgeworth 1 as was behind in the series. Got PW5, 6 and the 2 GAA games waiting to play too.

I bought the original PW games for my 2DS in a sale ages ago and still haven't fired them up. Need to fix that.

Yeah thinking about it, I've played every one of these and the spin offs that's released in the West, played the original trilogy twice too. What a series and whilst I wouldn't immediately consider it one of my all time favs, it clearly is.
I'm on the second case on the first Great Ace Attorney, tremendous stuff.

Love the series, but haven't picked up the Great Ace Attorney yet.
The first 4 were very good, but I found the layton spin off pretty poor and the 2 digital games did not reach the highs of the first 3. Recently played the trilogy again on the playstation for the platinum and I think thats the 3rd time I've played them through.

i still liked last two didn’t but they suffered a bit without having Shu Takumi at the helm, he’s back writing the scenarios for the Great Ace
