Couldn't find a topic for this. Out tomorrow on Xbox and PC and I assume later on PS? Nextlander play it so expect spoilers.. youtu.be/v5OQ3jbFgugOr just the trailer youtu.be/XuL8FPhKr2YVoice acting for the game was provided by James McAvoy, Daisy Ridley, and Willem Dafoe as the husband, wife, and the officer, respectively.

Looks a mixed bag out there:
IGN and Greg Miller liked it.
PC Gamer didn't like it.

SkillUp did not enjoy this. His example of the dialogue was perfect to show it's a bit jarring. I think I might play it using a guide so it doesn't become tedious/annoying.

Played it on my phone via xcloud. The controller input is a pain in the arse.
Does this have native touch controls on pc? Might install it on my surface seeing as it's got low spec requirements.
Gameplay wise it's a point and click adventure. Didn't seem anything special to me but I'm intrigued by the story.

I accidentally finished it yesterday. If you’ve ever played a point and click adventure, or games with conversation trees, it’s pretty simple to make progress.
I saw a lot of folk in the GamePass thread lamenting that you have to listen to the same three lines of dialogue at the start each time. It’s about ten seconds. I’m not sure what to say to people with that short an attention span?
I thought it was ok. The animations are janky as fuck. There are rendering glitches with hands clipping through objects and wotnot. But it’s not trying to be anything it isn’t. It’s a one scene play that loops. I’d say we should applaud people making stuff like this, and forgive it some jank.
That said, I’d be a bit pissed if I’d parted with too much cash for it. I reached the end in about three hours.

Pretty sure all dialogue can been skipped once you've heard it once? Think you just press A

Yeah - you just have to be careful where you "click" because you can also early exit a conversation which will often prompt a response from the speaker. "How rude!" or a knuckle sandwich.
The game is definitely a bit up its own arse. The writer was aiming for an M. Night Shyamalan style twist, but ultimately it's just a pretzel twist to shoehorn in some "oh my gorsh!" drama at the end there. A swing and a miss for me. But I enjoyed the escape room vibe of the rest of it - not the worst way to spend a few hours.
I know value is a tricky subject, but I'd be fuming if I'd paid the £21 RRP for this.

Yeah, but this pretzel is made of actual human excrement.

I was really looking forward to this, but the reviews have severely dampened my enthusiasm for it :/
Will probably still pick it up as it does at least look a bit different.

It's the perfect GamePass fodder - not so much for how good it is, but for how much good you'll extract from it and then say "glad I didn't spend twenty quid on that!"

I just finished. (Really) glad I played it, I liked it a lot. Glad I didn't pay 20 quid for it.

Reading the development blog, the core team was literally a handful of people. A Labour of love for sure I imagine, but I'd question the need or use of what I would imagine to be very expensive actors that don't really add a great deal. Does it really need Daisy Ridley, James Mcavoy and Willem Dafoe? I'm not even sure the star power works on a game like this.
On such a niche concept, I think reletive unknown voice actors and knocking a fiver off the price might have been the better option.
Can't fault the ambition of someone putting their money where their mouth is and making something this unique though. If this is one person's vision, it definitely beats a reskinned shinobi with Freddie Mercury end of level boss.

Annapurna are primarily a film production company and seem determined to get big names into their games whether it makes sense or not, hence Bryce Dallas Howard in Maquette recently and Lena Heady and Jason Schwartzman in The Artful Escape next month.

Yep. It's a little known fact that Daniel Day Lewis does the gasp of breath at the start of every loop in Outer Wilds. He actually single-handedly built a wooden spacecraft in researching for the role.

There's a lot of doing very little in this game to advance. Do this and then wait. Listen. Don't move. Etc... Until you figure that out this can actually be a mildly frustrating experience. There's a lot to interact with and experiment chaining together, but it most cases you just need to do the bare minimum.
I feel it would have actually made a better film or TV show.
