Seems odd they’d be doing all this granular improvement to a game in an engine that they are abandoning for UE5 after this.

Absolutely absurd car to be had for free in the update. Comes with twin machine guns. Google Quartz Type-66 “Hoon” if you want to find it straight away. Spolier I'm impressed at the number of vehicles and people the game throws around now, feels really alive. Hard to look at this as anything other than a not so subtle nod to Ken block.

I had the same thought, then I remember the shit show of the launch and this is probably as much about image management (pun intended) as anything else; getting “the gamers” back on board. It’s nice to see them giving the engine one last hurrah though.

God, looking at these screenshots reminds me how bland Starfield is in comparison. And how so far behind it is graphically.

I don't know if it's just my memory playing tricks on me, but I don't remember car windows having this level of reflection before. In fact, I'm pretty sure they were grubby as hell.
It's very immersive in the rain, check out all the lighting in this shot, the glow of the dash lights etc. I'm really not one to notice all this kind of stuff but it's just another level to anything else it stands out.

I notice they've updated the Hacking portion of the T-Bug's tutorial so now you get an explanation of how Breach Protocol works. Nice.
Lots of quite welcome UI changes. Liking the way weapon mods are labelled for which type of weapon they are actually for now instead of it being guesswork.
The Dying Night iconic pistol has had a makeover including a bayonet for some reason.
Before: After:

Before: After: Presumably the little bayonet is for when they've just been a bit naughty and you only want to give them a friendly shallow stab wound rather than kill them?

I always thought the original looked like it was something that belonged to the Sixth Street more than V.
EDIT:

That's kind of the feeling I got from Crysis in terms of a generational leap. DLSS 3.5 works on 20 and up series cards as well doesn't it? Might be time for an upgrade, three generations behind now.

It does but Cyberpunk only allows 3.5 exclusively in Path Tracing mode and the 20/30 series will be struggling with that mode. I'm just watching DF Direct now and they say CDPR have plans to allow it to work with lower cards later.

4070 seem to be the sweet spot in terms of price/performance ratio. Comparable in rastarization compared to a 3090 for example, but with the modern rendering features, enough memory and lower price. From what I've heard, 50 series cards aren't mooted to be released until 2025 as well so maybe?
My major/Minor issue, is that I have an I7 8700, so maybe CPU limiting going forward, also, on that socket, no obvious upgrade path CPU wise. So that would be a new CPU and processor whichever route I went down, AMD or Intel.
I do content creation stuff, something like a 5800X3D/7800X3D might actually be a better fit for me.

stuz359 - 9900k? Probably makes more sense to go for a new build though in fairness.

Thought I'd try a bit of Phantom Liberty, from a visual point of view it's packed with a ridiculous amount of detail, I can definitely feel the PS5 buckling. Can't imagine how it looks on PC.

Having just come back to Cyberpunk after initially dropping it when it came out.. I am pretty impressed. I’ve been playing about 15-20 hours of Starfield, and coming to Cyberpunk just feels like a much more impressive experience. What they’ve done with the skill tree is finally nailed what I wanted in my experience with the game. I know it’s not an uncommon opinion but in comparison to Starfield this feels like a next gen experience.

For those on PS5 is the new update worth now shifting into raytracing mode, or is performance still king?

For those on PS5 is the new update worth now shifting into raytracing mode, or is performance still king? Performance allllllll the way. Ray tracing is subtle at best because it's just shadows and it's only indoors and it just feels too laggy in that mode. There's obviously a reduction ambient occlusion and slight reduction in pedestrians and cars on the street but it's the way I'd go.

Shame there’s no magic Spider-Man magic mode where you can somehow have it all.

So Johnny has sabotaged me by swapping out my smart weapon cyberware for his bullshit tattoo right before I went into Dogtown, so smart weapons are trash. I’m going to have to look up a guide to this chimera fight because it’s just annihilating me over and over.

Have I seriously missed something or is it just not possible to drop the heavy weapons once you pick them up? The tank blows me up while I’m creeping along with the turret and there’s just no way to get out of the way. Difficulty, fine, but not letting you drop the turret until it runs out of ammo? Bullshit. Bullshit isn’t difficulty, it’s just bullshit.

It may be a bug then, because change weapon wasn’t functioning. I’ll try again tomorrow. That was just about the most frustrating hour or so of my life.

Going into Dogtown as a level 35 with legendary gear is fun. “Sneak in!”
Nope, just gonna murder everyone and stroll in the front door.

I should probably play past the 'go to bed' mission after the intro.

Does V's head still remain upright when she/he goes to bed? That's probably the thing that bugged me the most on my first playthrough.

Is the new district a fully functioning expansion to the city so I can drive right through it early or is it a separate entity that you have to enter and exit.
It's probably been covered in a preview at some point but as usual, I've ignored all the hype.
I purchased it earlier. Was it part of the 50gb I downloaded with patch 2.0 or is it another download?

So just playing through the my new game, haven't even touched the actual new stuff yet.
God this game is good. I can't even place my finger on some of the stuff, but everything just feels better. I think it's mostly the revamped trees but it all just handles so much nicer in combat.

Spoiler tags, in case people want to discover this new feature / easter egg for themselves.
Cyberpunk 2077 players have discovered a new arcade cab hidden in an abandoned church just outside Night City. This new arcade machine, added as part of Cyberpunk 2077’s free 2.0 update, lets you play a Doom-like retro shooter starring Keanu Reeves’ character, Johnny Silverhand.
