What a let down. Good news about transmog and the expansion though. Any news on whether it's paid or free? Logically one would assume paid, but sometimes developers give them for free when their games have rough launches.
Thanks, harry! You're doing blog's work.

They didnt say. I would imagine paid, as they equated it to Witcher 3 DLC level.
No worries, a welcome distraction to work.

I didn't mention the playable Roach Race arcade game or Nibbles the cat in photo mode cos they're stupid.
Transmog, wardrobe, series S 60fps are decent. Expansion looks great. Modding tools is pretty big.

So now the CP2077 news is out of the way, with what could be its final big patch of the year...
...All that's left for CDPR in 2022 is to announce a release date for The Witcher 3 on current-gen consoles, right?
Right?

I know I've groused about this before, but it has been two years since they announced the updated version of TW3. Just release it already!

I imagine the double whammy of the terrible reception to Cyberpunk at the beginning and the Ukrainian war forcing them to take the update in-house means it'll be a while before you hear anything.

I'm coming around to that school of thought myself, Jambo. I just wish they'd come out and say it!
The last official update was in mid-May, going on four months ago, when they said they were aiming for Q4 this year; if that's no longer on the cards (and let's face it, the window for announcing a Q4 release is shrinking with each passing week), they may as well tell us and get it out of the way.

Performance mode on Xbox Series S - 60fps. Well I'll be damned. Time to finally give this game a proper chance.

After the 14.6gb patch earlier, I gave it a whirl with a new start.
The character creator UI feels faster and more responsive, and female V's get access to Rogues' hairstyle now. They still haven't included the option to stop your character moving around while you're creating them though, so that's a mod I'll be reinstalling.
Despite the patch notes mentioning improvements to Dynamic Resolution Scaling, it still tanks my framerate even with my near god-tier machine, so I left it turned off.
Lighting seems to be much improved, I've noticed little flares and coronas in places, and the transition from dark to light areas doesn't cause a little stutter for me the way it used to.
In the Nomad intro, I noticed during the scene with the customs agent that the decals on the table were weirdly moving around with the camera rather than being in a fixed position, so that's either a new bug that's crept in or one I hadn't noticed before.
Gameplay wise, there is significantly less random crap lying around to pick up now. Driving feels less twitchy, more responsive.
Jackie: Still the best ever.

Yeah, I did have a vague recollection of the dev team being in a war zone. That should just give Witcher 3 even more depth and authenticity though. Get to work! ha ha just kidding don’t die

Also, I’d so much rather they got Jackie back for pre-Silverhand DLC than Keanu back. I guess they figure all expansions will have to be useable with an old save though.

They should have fleshed out that big intro sequence that ended up a montage, in my opinion. Maybe gone whole hog and restored the three different life path intros entirely.

That’s exactly what I was thinking. I felt the game needed more time with Jackie and the other characters who die during the heist to lend more personal gravity to the player. And the buddy-adventures montage looked like more fun than a lot of the rest of the game did. He’s a good character.

It needed 10 hour class specific intros plus another 10 hours with Jackie. I don’t think we’ll ever get that content.
Just done the new Edgerunner side quest, the anime looks so fucking good.

You're not far off, although it was more along the lines of the dev team being Russian, and CDPR saying, "fuck that."

I played a bit of this yesterday on Series X. Which you know, doesn't look as crisp or feel as good as the PS5 version without that lovely haptic trigger support. But man, I hate the pathing in CDPR's games. I was doing the Delamain limo missions, and often times instead of leading me towards the nearest street to turn, it'd direct me off road. Which would be fine if there was a place to drive, but not so much when it's just buildings there. The Witcher 3 had that same issue. I'd be on Roach riding down a road and it'd be like "go through these woods." If I wanted to do that, I wouldn't be setting a waypoint.
But beyond that, they need to make them easier to see, for when you do need to take a turn or a fork in the road. Having them in tiny dots in the corner of the screen while you're looking forward isn't helpful. They should study Ubisoft's waypoints. As much as I hated the writing in Watch Dogs 2 and Legion, the big neon arrow below your car helps immensely with getting you where you need to go.

I'd be pleased if they tacked on some endings to some of those fab side quests that were crazy interesting and then just... seem to... stop.

Testing the performance mode on Series S, it runs well and looks pretty... pretty. Wandered off mid mission to a random industrial area at night. Light drizzle, distant neon lights, smoke fumes. Very atmospheric, really makes me want to explore this world.
On the flipside though: it's dead quiet in these parts, nothing going on whatsoever - can't even find a single car nearby to drive back to some crowded streets. Immersive wise this is not a Rockstar world. Guess I should keep my expectations in check and focus on the main storyline.
