He said: "the media are making this sound like it’s the worst thing to ever hit the planet." That's all I needed to know about this moron.

13 people are confirmed dead already, and The Media™ were at one point predicting/reporting it was such a strong hurricane that it was approaching the limits of what the planet's atmosphere is actually capable of producing, but nah, that's what travel insurance is for, right?

You'd think a "former firefighter" would be a bit more copped on about this kind of thing. Stupid cunt!

"The local residents are panicking" he said, but "the Brits and Americans are total different beasts when it comes to preparing themselves to adversity."
People were panic buying toilet roll...

If he kept doing it while he had a mass on his head I'm a little surprised the MRI showed he had a brain in the first place.

Story with a happy ending at least. Did they put a bar over the eyes in the second x-ray to protect the skeletons identity?

Fuuuuuuuck just seeing body cam footage of the arrest of Virgina McCullough. She’s absolutely chilling. So matter of fact and calm. And singing like a bird apparently.

I think there is mention that she has autism doesn't really specify what form tbh. I don't know if that would have any basis in her responses here.

Well she's clearly not all there and the whole family sounds pretty dysfunctional, the other four siblings who didn't visit their parents in four years leaves some questions, it was the GP who raised the alarm in the end.

The Telegraph had the full story with clips without their usual paywall nonsense, it's not any of their political shite just some actual decent reporting.
It also has a lot more than the BBC.

The way Proboards handles HTML links regularly fucks up my browser's Malwarebytes extension so copy and paste the URL rather click on it if you have trouble.

handy thread about the daily mail doing a good thing and how as a result we're cleared to say douglas barrowman (husband of michelle mone, she of the ~£300m PPE fraud etc) has sausage fingers and drove people to suicide bsky.app/profile/danneidle.bsky.social/post/3l6cpfmcset2coverclaim £1.50 from carers allowance and be hounded to the end of the earth, benefit scrounging scum. Steal hundreds of millions from individuals and the state and you get to throw legal threats around from the comfort of your yacht

Oh man I read about this earlier today. I became more baffled the more I read. I've totally worked with people like this, more specifically my last workplace. A person who had massive main character energy and everyone was the villain.

It's become a much maligned name but she's really not doing much to disprove the Karen stereotype.

It's annoying how different councils will take recycling items, my council sent an email recently saying they only do paper, cardboard, plastic bottles, tins and glass jars/bottles. I'd been thoroughly cleaning plastic tubs like microwave stuff and putting them in the recycling but that's a no no, presumably because others were just chucking them in the recycling dirty. It takes a lot of effort for waste processing companies to set up their plants, meaning that council contracts are really long - like 30 years. The problem with that is recycling tech and materials has moved on loads meaning most councils are always way behind the curve of whats possible and there is so much variation between councils due to timing.

While I understand the reasoning its totally understandable why people get frustrated. Like here its only tins, some kinds of paper and card, some plastics, but no glass. Then there’s Tetrapak which is an area of grey so dense its also a platonic ideal of uncertainty. And how many people know that a lot of authorities advise that wet cardboard apparently can’t be recycled but that part of the recycling process is to mulch it in water. This sort of thing doesn’t help either. www.theguardian.com/environment/2024/oct/01/soft-plastic-collected-for-recycling-burned-tesco-sainsburys-campaignersI just want to do the right thing but manufacturers insist on using the worst packaging possible giving me no option of being good and when they get it right the council inevitably has a deal with a company whose “recycling” process is burning it or sending it to be dumped on a beach in the Philippines.

Apparently the bigger the stinger and pincers, the less venomous the sting. As scorpions that are units rely on a combo of stinging and throwing their weight around whilst the skinny fuckers have to fight dirty and therefore pack nastier stings. Sort of vapid knowledge that really interests me that 😂
