I've vaguely followed Simon's career as he's been a reporter for BBC south east for years and years. He's always been a bit of a sap who I thought was going to remain in that role until he eventually retires or drifts off into behind the scenes work.
But inexplicably he's suddenly become one of the go to reporters and he travels all over now. Still the same completely inoffensive, bland and obvious reporting, just now he's national and now apparently international too?

fuck me that's terrifying We had a similar accident close to where I lived as a kid. A ship had trouble navigating due to ice and hit a large bridge in the middle of the night. The entire span over the water crashed down. One truck driver managed to stop and blocked the road on the mainland side after just a few minutes. He tried to use his headlights to warn people on the other side, but several cars and one truck drove over the edge over the course of an hour before that side got blocked as well. Absolute nightmare fuel. |

Yeah, was going to post this yesterday. It’s the same company that did our school photos. Disappointing and disturbing. This was the same day that my little ones primary school had their P1 assembly. All children involved, all at the mic to say their lines. Mine is talking but not always understandable, but I liked that no one tried to speak for her or translate. It was just how she was. Couldnt have been better |

That headline seems very misleading. I took it to mean there was no tech involved, just some Indians with cameras. Actual article says that they’re reviewing and training the ML dataset and some of the transactions are being completed with no human involvement.

At some point somewhere the big chain has made someone else do the work for them. We can see it happening in the supply chain where I work, the big names all make their suppliers do various tasks that they used to do themselves, prepackaging stuff or labeling things, all for no extra money, just the privilege of having them as a customer.
