Fucking Evans. I moaned about Allen but all is forgiven. We should be trying to nick Atkinson, he seems happy being 2nd choice at any given club he ends up at.

Atkinson would've been a good call, having fallen behind Shillcock in the pecking order at Tigers.
Over 100 points were scored in the Bristol vs. Bath derby! A fun watch for a neutral.

So narratives for the weekend: France v Ireland - How will France do without Dupont? How will Ireland do without Sexton? Presumably the game of the weekend and a potential decider off the bat. I'm hoping for France. Italy v England - Just what team will England field and will it be a mess? Despite all that you'd still expect them to win. Can the new Italy coach achieve anything? First game on the job and first victory against England ever would be quite the thing. Wales v Scotland - Basically considering the fucking state of Welsh rugby (players leaving, the regions are fucking honking in the URC) can Scotland actually get over their Principality hoodoo. If they can't it's a massive failure.

Agree with all the above!
France, Ireland, and Scotland could all have gone further than they did at the World Cup, so presumably they'll have points to prove; England and Wales probably over-achieved, and ought to adjust their expectations for the Six Nations; and Italy had a dreadful time of it at the RWC, so I'm guessing their new coach would love nothing more than to start with a bang.
I'm hoping for France, England, and Scotland wins.

I'm hoping France (as I've just got a grudge against Ireland now), Italy (the funniest outcome), Scotland.
I need to add "for a laugh" to my which team to support in any given match flow chart.

I think France will be alright without DuPont, as wonderful as he is they have a lot of depth

If Italy were to win, I'd laugh until I reached the point of involuntary urination...
... But I don't think I'd be able to stomach all the, "Bring back Owen!" stuff that would ensue from the usual quarters.

I think I have my full flow chart:
- 1. Is Scotland playing? Support Scotland - 2. Are a Scottish Team playing? - a. Are 2 Scottish teams playing? Pick Glasgow else just have fun - 3. Does the outcome benefit Scotland in some way? Support the team that advantages Scotland. Tournament play and so on - 4.Are Scottish player involved? E.g. the Premiership - a. Pick the team with the most Scottish starters - b. The bench counts less - c. Finn Russell counts for 5 players - d. booooo Saracens - 5. Actual neutral territory. - a. Support the underdog - b. Pick the funniest possible outcome, see a. - c. Assess current vendettas (Ireland right now but previously Gatland) - d. Support Not England - e. Go with what your friends are doing, overridden by d. as annoying my English mates is a hobby.

Eh I'm a programmer, a set of if else statements makes sense to me. Just meant to be a bit silly.

Saudi Arabia is apparently in talks with four Premiership clubs regarding potential investments.
Ugh.

Exactly... and I'd really hoped that rugby would avoid all that sportswashing stuff by 'virtue' of not being popular enough.

If the Saudis end up with stakes in 40% of the Premiership, I can totally see them hosting a Rugby World Cup in the future.

If you can't trust F. Smith to start against Italy, you're keeping him on the bench for the entire tournament; where that leaves you if Ford gets injured, I have no idea.

I'm hoping M Smith isn't sidelined for long, the shirt was his for the taking.

He would’ve been on the bench instead of Fin, let’s be honest

Stupidity on an industrial scale from Willemse - sin binned after nine minutes, back on at 19, carded again (and sent off) at 31. Who does that?!
