3 passes are a luxury. When I were a lad we worked 26 hours a down mill and we were lucky if we saw 1 pass, and lived in a shoebox on the road.

Doesn't seem to matter, two Quins backs on and we finally see a bit of pace and skill in the attack

Happy with the result but what a shit performance. Japan making so many errors cost them.

That was bloody awful.
The result was probably a fair reflection of the game overall, but the more enjoyable-to-watch team lost.

2 completely jammy tries then Japan just got too exhausted to really carry on. Imagine trying that against the Boks, France, Ireland or even a faltering New Zealand. If the draw was less insane we'd see it in the pool stages at least. It'd be hilarious but it'd be a fucking 7 try stuffing.

The Lawes try, wasn’t it a knock on onto Marlers head?

Yeah like this but actually scoring a try
I will never find James Haskell looking like an idiot not funny.

But yeah that game was like watching a 14 year old spending the entire bus trip from school attempting to beat up an 11 year old, then eventually manging it as the stop was coming up. Where everyone they claim victory but everyone else there goes "But did you though? Really?"

The Lawes try, wasn’t it a knock on onto Marlers head? Backwards off of Stuart's arm prior to the header that was totally planned.

Man I'd forgotten that. Hilarious. Best bit is Hartley at 43s.

Remember when he head butted the post instead of scoring a try Forgotten this a well. As a side note, what's the reason why players don't just intentionally ground the ball on the base of the post whenever they have an attacking ruck just short? So often teams basically can't defend it, because standing in front of the post would be to stand it an offside position, so it's basically a bit of try line that is totally open. I presume there is a reason, but it always seems much easier to me to just aim for the static padded object that's closer rather than attempt to smash through the big blokes standing either side.

It still needs to be over the line, so the defending team tend to give up the cynical offside pen by getting in the way of the padding as soon as the ball moves

Not a clue. Anytime someone bothers to remember you can do that the commentators tend to gush about how intelligent they are. I suspect collective amnesia.
Edit: well ignore me then I'd entirely missed that. Explains why nobody has done it in years.

Thank you. So they did close the loop hole. Admittedly I haven't regularly watched club rugby for a long time but I don't recall ever watching a player take full advantage. Still, it was basically unfair, and kind of amazing it wasn't updated sooner. A kid on my school team did it once (when clean through and he could have grounded it normally) just to be a cocky little shit for the sake of it.

Haha. I totally agree with you on the commentators though. I've seen several instances of the ball kind of accidentally grounded to the side of the post (after being shoved there and landing in the vicinity) and the commentators always banged on about intelligence. Every time it cropped up I'd think a) we all knew this rule by U13 rugby b) if they were that intelligent they'd have actively aimed for the very front of the post in the first place and saved some wasted effort.
