Didn't seem to make a difference in the end, Ryan! Surely this has to be the end of the line for Eddie Jones? Got to be after one win in 4 in the internationals. Problem is this is so close to the world cup is it too late?

Whoever comes in would have the benefit of the honeymoon period in the run in to the WC

That, plus I have a hard time believing anyone who's even remotely qualified would do a worse job than Jones - hell, I think we could throw together an ad hoc coaching team made up of the regular posters in this thread, and we'd still be able to match England's recent performances during the next Six Nations!

As much as I think Rassie is (or at least, can be) a twat, I'd still take him over Jones. At least he gets results!

I have been Rassies biggest fan for years, but I am getting to the point I would be happy to see him go. He used to be cheeky funny and stuff like the waterboy thing was... cheeky.
Now he just is whinging and annoying.

Wales have replaced Pivac with Gatland - will the RFU have the balls to follow suit and jettison Jones?

Thank fuck we aren't getting him. Watch them go full 2012 and reappoint Lancaster. I saw Ronan O'Gara was hinted to be in the running. That can't be likely can it? Although him with Lancaster as no.2 would be a very good team. And he'd fucking love to win the world cup with England.

I'd have taken Gatland over Jones - he could hardly be as bad, never mind worse, and he's far less loathsome. Guess it's a moot point now.
O'Gara, Lancaster, Woodward... hell, bring back Ashton and Johnno as a dream team double act, for all I care!
I'm not bothered if England go out in the pool stages, as long as I can watch international rugby again without getting acid reflux every time they show the coaches on TV.
The Fail reported last week that Jones expects to be sacked. For perhaps the first time in my life, I hope they're right.

Thank goodness. Was surprised that his win percentage is the best of any coach though.

I think the only available coach I'd be interested in now is Scott Robertson It's probably going to be Cockerill in a caretaker role

Looks like it’ll be the walking nosebleed Borthwick. Wonder if his close association with Jones will provide beneficial continuity, or if the similarity will just continue the rut we’re stuck in

I'm not convinced by Borthwick - Tigers haven't exactly picked up where they left off last season, after all - but in terms of existing Premiership coaches, he's probably the best bet (at least, in the short term).

Oh please not Borthwick. It's as half arsed as appointing Lancaster after Tuilagi got lucky vs the All Blacks in 2012
And the sooner Farrell Jnr retires, the better.

I'm not going to believe that Jones has finally gone until I see official confirmation, dammit!
*If* he goes, I can't immediately see a better option in the Premiership than Borthwick. Recent law changes have rendered Exeter pretty toothless, so Baxter's no longer the appealing choice he once was; I'm not convinced that McCall would succeed without all the, um, "advantages" he's had with Saracens; Sanderson's doing a good job at Sale, but he's still relatively inexperienced (and on a personal level, his history with Saracens makes him an unappealing choice); and so on.

Agreed - it's still the same deeply conservative old boys' club it has always been, so I can't blame anyone who'd rather not deal with that shit.
