You'd think at the third yellow card the ref would just go fuck this, penalty try. Regardless of the laws.

The referee (Karl Dickson, who's terrible anyway) definitely seemed reticent to issue any more yellows, despite a constant stream of infringements on Leicester's part.
Even though I wanted Tigers to win, I felt that another card would've been appropriate. They managed to dick about for so long that two of the three carded players came back on, having served their time in the sin bin, so it was 15 v. 14 when the final whistle went.

A good start for forum user zephro; less so for me and forum user Danno.

I'm feeling better going into the half-time break, that's for sure.
It's by no means a done deal yet, though, as anyone who saw Quins' game against Bath last weekend will attest.

... And Quins concede two tries in as many minutes during the second half, plus a penalty, meaning that they've gone from 21-7 up to 21-24 down.
12 minutes to go...

Phew! 28-24 in the end - fair play to Glasgow for coming back from that sort of deficit, but Quins just about did enough to creep over the line.

I have now gotten home after drinking in Richmond. Was a good game, disappointing but good.
How did the refereeing look on the TV? As it seemed kinda quick to blow up and looking at twitter it's awash with people moaning. But honestly the tickets we got, I was the opposite end of the pitch to all of it squinting and going "Eh something happened at a ruck. Fuck knows."
Still an hour and 45 to get there from Zone 2 Islington. What the shit.

The refereeing seemed fine to me (although I did watch the game on my phone while doing other things, so it didn't have my undivided attention).

Yeah could just be fellow Scots being salty. Everything managed to be the opposite end of the pitch to us, so yknow fuck knows.

Bordeaux thrashed Saracens earlier today, so it'll be a Harlequins vs. Bordeaux QF.
Given how badly Quins were trounced by Saracens a fortnight ago, it's hard to see them beating Bordeaux.
Leinster are currently in the driving seat against Leicester, which isn't much of a surprise.
Can we stop with the whole 'Freddie Steward only makes mistakes once in a blue moon' narrative now? 'Cause I watch Tigers each week, and the idea that his errors are some kind of endangered species is massively inaccurate.

I don't think Steward will play for England again for a while, Saggy Bitchtits seems to want some attacking threat from the backs now that Fazlet and Nowell are out of the picture and pretty much all of Northampton's backline is Eng qualified.
(Even Daly. He'll slot one of those 50m penalties one day, it's sheer probability)

I think Steward's a decent-to-good player, but it's far from uncommon to see him drop a high ball or spill an easy pass. I've no idea how he got a reputation as Mr. Infallible.

Shame Nowell isn’t available any more, I like him. Plus he looks exactly like what you’d get if you typed “Cornish rugby player” into an AI image generator

I dunno, Nowell was great 2014-16 but never had any real pace for an international winger. He and Faz should have been identified as flankers a lot earlier in their playing days

They love him in La Rochelle, he’s slimmed down a bit much for forward work but he plays 13 a lot now

12 tries scored and one point in it - what a fantastic match.

Eykyn, Kay, and Beattie on comms made for a very watchable experience.
By contrast, the commentary team for Saints vs. Bulls is Mullins, Flatman, and Healey - not fun, to put it mildly (and I like Healey).

Huh, so Jordie Barrett has been added to Snyman for a spell at Leinster. Seems a bit excessive.

England ruthless against Ireland. Reminds me of how the All Blacks would, and do, annihilate whoever is in front of them. Also, Jess Breach is lovely.

They are lovely and the Red Roses are pound for pound the best rugby team in history. But by fuck does it make watching the Women's Six Nations dull. The games which are actually watchable are the Scotland, Ireland, Wales, Italy games between one another. Where there's some actual jeopardy about who might win.
I really hope they don't re-create the overly competitive ethos with the Women's Lions tour. As even that extra money and 2-3 years to prepare it is just going to be England so what's the point? Make the whole thing a crazy All Stars game for entertainment and just bypass the stupid national bun fighting that goes on.

I read that the money is to assist the other nations so that it isn't just England+ But it's hard to see where anyone else gets in the team. Perhaps a decent place kicker..?
Hopefully next week will be more competitive.

Hopefully next week will be more competitive. Yeah but in 2 or 3 years? They're investing the money in pathways it takes years for players to come through that route. The other nations have improved but it's not like they have their own club league.

Also Scotland are being incredibly wasteful, kicking everything to the corner instead of kicking points.
I type that and they maul it over of course.

Going back to the Lions, presumably the first Lions tours in the Edwardian (Victorian?) eras, involved taking a year off work, a few months on a steam ship in total, they were all amateur etc. So it mostly involved going around playing EVERY team in New Zealand and having a slap up dinner/piss up in every club house. I don't think the original spirit of the Lions was actually competition it was a bunch of people who could afford it going on a gap year and making great friends along the way.
So I don't really see a problem in saying the Women's lions is 20% from each nation plus 20% leeway, but the whole point is growing the game. Having them go out to clubs, do out reach, be seen, inspire a new generation etc. Do social media of them all fucking around together on Tik Tok or a Netflix documentary, that kinda thing. That's actually way more positive and something I'd rather watch for the fun of it.
