I kind of got the feeling it might be a bit pants just from the opening bit. There's only so much you can do with a boss like that in a game like this without leaving believability at the door.

I personally thought they improved on the concept with the Ancient Wyvern fight in DS3. Not amazing, but infinitely better. I actually really dislike that fight. Taking it slow and steady gets annoying, so I bum rush it, but it's 50/50 that I'll eat a fireball in the back, or the chain dude lands one on me, or (one time) I spam X to climb the final ladder, trigger the fucking sixaxis and /path of the dragon as the oncoming swarm sweeps in for the 0.6second murder

That's because, Danno, you're a bit impatient.

What's really annoying is that with this character - this lovely character that I platinumed it with - I can never get the fucking helmet Ostrava has because I didn't kill the vanguard demon in the tutorial area.
/sob
Also, I kind of regret not grabbing the coins when I had either PBWT or PWWT and fractured mode on. I'm now thinking, for the sake of completion, I need to get the Penetrator's set. I think most of my current worlds are PW, so I could grab those ones, turn the worlds black, then move on to NG+4 and do the same there.
Hmmm

Dragon God was pretty comical in the end. I died about 5 times but when the penny dropped on what pieces of cover I had to hide behind it was about the easiest thing I've ever done in a souls game.

Made some decent progress last night. Freed a couple of NPC's including the one in 4-2 and a guy in Prison of Hope who now sells spells in the Nexus.
Think I've ballsed up my use of boss souls though. Not only did I spend some of the earlier boss ones when I started the game way back when by converting them before learning they can also be used to purchase magic, last night I spunked the ones I had collected all at the same time. The penny dropped about a minute after I bought Fireball that the spell I've kept seeing people big up is actually Firestorm and must come from a different vendor I have to save. Oops.
Joys of trying to run the game as blind as possible I suppose.

Yeah Firestorm comes from Yuria with Dragon God's soul. If you've used the soul for something else you're out of luck! Pretty sure DG's souls is one of the few that can be used for three different spells / miracles.

They changed the drop rate of the bladestone in the remake - probably why it didn't take so long. Ohhh, that was a smart move. Pretty much the perfect game for me now then

Did they though? I lucked out the last time but the times I farmed it with my other two characters I fucking gave up. Hours and hours of killing that black skeleton and nothing.

I read somewhere it had, but can't remember where.
This, apparently is the best way -

What's funny is that I used to farm it in PBWT with the sword of searching. The time it actually dropped for me recently, I was in neutral WT and only had the ring on. It was obviously a total fluke but I wasn't complaining.

Are you even a dex build that can use it anyway?

Oh also from my session yesterday while playing 5-2; I learned the hard way about alerting a giant depraved one when you're stood too close to the sludge. It was like a Mike Tyson fight from the 80's.

It was either him or a black phantom that was pacing back and forth ominously just off to the left of me. I figured I'd taken the coward's path. How wrong I was.

It was like a Mike Tyson fight from the 80's. Brutal aren't they! I completely cheesed the one in 5-1 by getting it to chase me back to a part he couldn't climb up, and firing unapologetic Soul Arrows at him until he died. I knew I was delaying the inevitable of having to fight one head on, I just wish I could have moved or rolled or... anything when it happened.

There are two in 5-1 not including where Istarelle is. I hate them both. At one point I had aggroed the old woman so I was trying to fight a giant depraved one as she kept punching me in the back of the head. It didn't end well. Stupid old cow.

While we're at wishing death on irritating npc's; is there any benefit to keeping that little cunt who kicks you down the pit alive? Because I've had an urge to stab him in his stupid grinning face ever since last night.

Although over the course of DeS, DS1, DS3 and BB I've probably killed him more often than not. But.. Patches!

Converting boss souls into souls, spending the ones I didn't on shite, killing NPC's who sell useful stuff. I've got absolutely no hope of finishing this have I?

Guiding my eldest brother through Demon Souls and he can use any advantage he can get. Any advice what items and stats to go for after crescent blade and royal starting class? I mean I only finished Demon Souls with sub-par magic and strenght builds so have no clue how to make this easier on him.

Vitality for survivability Magic for increased damage with the crescent falchion Endurance for being mobile for longer / more attacks Farm early areas for loads of grass Get enough dex to use a bow and snipe stuff from afar Definitely do 2-1 as early as you can as you get the one-off miners with sacks that have loads of upgrade materials Don't forget to kill yourself in the nexus after becoming human to keep yourself in soul form to preserve the world tendency to be neutral/white Research the boss souls on the wiki to find out which ones you don't want to use and consume them to level up instead Firestorm is super op spell in a pinch

I do force him to kill himself after a boss kill. Just thinking whether magic is the best way forward.

If he's royalty, you could easily mix it with some dex for a dex/mag build. It's quite versatile. The crescent Falchion goes a long way when upgraded + upgraded magic stat. That would help with the bow too.
Faith builds I find are item dependant Same for strength really
Then again, I'm a dex whore so ymmv
