torb Cheers chief. To be honest it's only souls games I try to plt, and it's really just to push me to try those last few builds or make sure I max out something I wouldn't normally do. I play them all the time anyway so I may as well. It's a nice sense of feling "finished" with them, even though I always end up going back to them anyway. other than that, I've only Platnumed Control, which wasn't too hard and ended up happening naturally as I loved that game and din't really want to stop playing it. Chopper if it's any consolation, last time I tried for the pure bladestone with a dex character I gave up as it didn't drop after ages. That was with the sword of searching and pure black world tendency, the ring, and a load of luck as well! This time I only had the ring. The world was neutral verging on white and it just dropped. Couldn't believe it. quadfather Thanks man, I still don't REALLY know why I had to do it. Jambowayoh I typed all that whilst swinging my big dick around.

They changed the drop rate of the bladestone in the remake - probably why it didn't take so long.

So I decided to stop being a shitbag and come back to the game. Managed to down Flamelurker on my second go (god bless that ring of flame resistance). I've now come up to a god of the dragon variety and I'm wondering whether it's something I should do now or leave for later?
I think I've got 3-2, 4-2 or 5-2 available other than that if any of those are the safer bets. I've explored a fair bit of 3-2 already but it was ages ago now.

You can do Dragon God any time tbh. He takes a bit of patience so so long as you don't try to rush it, you can do him. The trick is to really pay attention to where he looks. Only move when he's looking another way, and make sure you keep his eyes yellow. Use pillars for cover. If he sees you, his eyes glow red and he roars, at which point you've got a fraction of a second to hide, or you're fucked. 2H your weapon and make sure you can batter the rubble in one shot. Don't be shy of running, battering rubble, and running back to your hiding spot if you're nervous about running straight past it. give yourself time.
I normally leave 5 for last, but I think 5-1 is worse and you've already done that so you can do 5-2 relatively easily, just watch out for the second half through the shanty town, it's crawling with twats.

Nice one, I'll give 5-2 a go then. I think I did play a little bit of it back when I cleared 5-1, but I was coming down from the high of beating that leech twat in one attempt and was woefully unprepared for being poisoned every 5 seconds in the swamp.

My most recent playthrough against Dragon God, I turned left, picked up the smasher and then just ran like buggery and did it all in one go without looking.
This may not qualify as actual advice however.

I used to just leg it past Dragon God but it's pure luck if you make it through like that so recently I've taken it slower so I don't have to keep trying it.

What's your build? Carrying a blessed mace, regenerator ring and adjudicator shield completely offsets the poison as you make it through. Probably don't need all three, even one will help. Then just stuff a lotus in your mouth when you're out.

Yeah, like I said on the previous page, it took me absolutely ages to kill him because I sniped all the rubble. On the PS3 I had a wild, mediocre build and couldnt smash the rocks in one hit so it took me around a million tries, so I decided to be methodical this time.

Predicatbly, this coward is a magic build so I rock the Crescent Falchion. I do have the Adjudicator Shield though and possibly the ring. I hate being poisoned in games, makes me panic needlessly.

It took me 2 deaths to even realise the rubble could be cleared. Decades of predictable, signposted video games conditioned me into believing it was some sort of set piece thing, what with the big glowing sword labeled 'Dragon Crusher' or whatever lying just next to where he first strikes. Honestly thought you just had to time him smashing through there and blast him with it. That was my falling off cliffs moment right there.

It is a slow poison tick mind, so even if you just keep yourself topped off with grass, it's not too bad. Plague is the fucker in this but it's so rare that you don't really need to worry about it, especially in 5-2.

Yeah I'm sure it'll be fine, my own mind gets me killed 9/10 times in these games. I build up the perceived difficulty in my head too much but in reality, I haven't died more than once against any of the bosses so far. Really need to crack on and actually finish the damn thing this time.

I genuinely only think there are two tricky bosses in this game. Potentially a third but that depends if you get another player or not. The rest are almost laughably easy. It's the levels themselves that are nails. Souls games seemed to focus more and more on the bosses, what I like about this is that it was more about the journey to the bosses, than the bosses themselves. I still think 1-1 is one of the best areas in all of souls. Just that arrival in Boletaria, the huge forboding wall and door, your journey around, opening first one tower, then the other. It's utterly brilliant.

Yep, the level design is absolutely brilliant and the journeys are definitely the meat of the game which suits me down to the ground.

I'd say about 5, the ones above plus Allant. And yeah, 1-1 is sublime.

I do enjoy those fights. I've wasted quite a few players as the monk but weirdly I have only fought another player as him once. Everytime I went to fight him I got the shit NPC that just runs moronically towards you. Thankfully the time I got a player it was actually a good fight.

Bar the end boss I don't think there's a dud boss in there. They all have something to offer even if it's just a gimmick or a bunch of adds or set piece

I like the more gimmicky nature of the ones in this game tbh. They all feel pretty unique so far, with Flamelurker probably being the only one that felt quite generic up to where I'm at.

I think Dragon God is genuinely pretty bad, like maybe the second worst in all four games.

Yeah I don't enjoy Dragon God at all. The rest are great actually. Mind you I've never tried the cheese on Armoured Spider, I always just pelt towards him zigzagging then just roll through his two clearly telegraphed attacks until he belches flame, at which point I fuck off, then repeat. Flamelurker and Maneaters will always be a bit of a potential roadblock for me. They were the only ones when I was going through the NG cycles that I'd dread a little bit.
I always enjoy the Alan fight but it is a bit one note. Penetrator's good. Phalanx is probably a waste of time but it's fun. Tower Knight and Adjudicator are basically the same fight. Dirty Colossus is a joke if you're behind him. Leechmonger has actually killed me a couple of times mind you, he can be a bit tricky. Storm King is absolutely epic but probably not as much fun to fight as any of the others barring DG. Fools Idol is fine if you take your time.

I'll take boring for my next fight tbh. The more progress I make while I've got it in my head to actually play it, the more likely I'll actually press on instead of dropping it for another 3 months.

Yeah, its not that hes rock hard, just a bit rubbish. To be fair, they learned this kind of boss suck pretty quickly and it doesnt appear again. Other than, really, the actual worst boss (bed of chaos).

I personally thought they improved on the concept with the Ancient Wyvern fight in DS3. Not amazing, but infinitely better.

I suppose at least they tried to shake things up with the bosses rather than just have every one as a 1vs1 melee fest. Don't know how else you would do something like the DG to be fair, and keep the scale of the boss.
