Maybe they could formalise and rebrand the preseason friendlies into a Uefa Conference style Premier League Global Series. Where the rich countries and continents get games featuring 4-6 good teams and less profitable markets get the relegation dodgers.
The clubs are basically doing that already anyway. I’m sure PIF would be happy to pay any additional expenses and market it alongside LIV golf events.

It is pretty amazing that Harry Kane has joined the most domestically dominant major European club (currently on an 11 league title streak), and has played absolutely brilliantly but could still miss out on a major trophy. Surely Leverkusen will falter eventually.

Leverkusen are doing unreal but Bayern are relentless. Look what happened to Dortmund last season, losing the title on goal difference on the final day.
It really is saying something about how good Alonso is that Kane is annihilating every record going and still isn’t topping the table.
I assume Alonso will be poached by Madrid or Bayern before too long but I hope he’s allowed time to grow since he’s clearly got the head for this.

It'll be Bayern won't it. I expect they are already back channel whispering to Alonso not to sign a new contract. Preparing an offer he can't refuse.

They have some games in hand so I'm sure Munich will end up winning.

The best bit about the Dier interviews is that he takes ages going "um, um, um, um mutual", as if English isn't his first language and he couldn't think of a word. lol

Justice for Bologna!
Dodgy pen for zero contact totally wrongly given to Milan. Giroud doesn't take it well and it's saved.
VAR / refereeing is usually better there, but not today.

Crazy game between Barca and Villareal. Barca 2 nil down , go 3-2 up and lose 5-3. Not playing home games at Nou Camp currently but still..

Morocco and Egypt both dumped out, been a lot of shocks in spite of the expanded 24-team format.

theathletic.com/5224900/2024/01/31/samuel-etoo-referee-cameroon?source=user-shared-articleHoly smokes this is quite a read. Eto'o sounds corrupt as hell. Quite why one of the richest and most successful African footballers would decide to destroy his national FA for personal gain I'm not sure, but he's like a mini Putin. My favourite bit is this lawyer approved summary of a game that was allegedly fixed by Eto'o: "The first match of a two-legged semi-final in Cameroon’s third tier turned into a farce. NQSA received five red cards (three players and two coaches) and four yellows. Opponents Kumba City were awarded two questionable penalties, with the first ordered to be retaken due to apparent encroachment after it had been saved." I need to see those highlights. Somehow the team with a three man advantage and given two goals only won 3-1 over the two legs!

Ivory Coast go a man down, a goal down, score an equaliser in the 90th minute, then a winner in extra time injury time.
I don't know how they top that for drama in the next round. Ridiculous tournament.

Kane scored again. I must admit it makes me feel proud when one of our own goes abroad and does well. I enjoyed following Beckham when he was at Madrid.
