Yeah he isn’t easy at early game lvls. If you try and dodge towards and to it’s right you avoid most of its swings. Great battle though and I love that whole area, so creepy. Also the blood cocktails distract it for a bit.

If I remember rightly, he is also weak to fire. Using blood cocktails to get him to blindly attack the spot it lands in, then add fire to your weapon. Should cut him down quite quickly. The final phase when he is really fast and spreading poison everywhere can still be quite tricky, but should be quite manageable to get to that stage using blood cocktails.

My son is currently doing his first play through with me watching providing hints and tips. Right now he is trying to make his way through Yahar'gul the Unseen Village. Horrible place! He has done most of the bosses but I did rom and the three shadows for him. Rocking his +9 lhs.

I'll see how I get on first. I have ti be comfortable with my character and get used to all the different types of bloody consumables. It's been literally years since I've played it.

Haven't you said the same about Sekiro and Elden Ring, retro? You must overlevel, follow guides or have the reflexes of a ninja/Neo I’m not sure I overlevel as I find Dark Souls quite easy and relaxing sub SL30. You can’t overlevel on Sekiro and I did find two bosses really hard on that though Elden Ring was only easy because I used the spirit summon things, which some might say is cheating but they are in the game for a reason. It’s not like summoning a human and letting them do all the work I think it’s just time spent on the games, I solo’d everything in Demons and Dark 1, putting a few thousand hours into them. Done hundreds and hundreds of hours helping others too. Don’t mind admitting that I found Demon’s impossible at first because I didn’t understand the systems at all Reflexes are decent for my age, if I open the fridge and something unexpectedly falls out like a bottle of tomato sauce or something I always catch it before it hits the floor

He’s cleared the village and the one reborn so on to mensis nightmare for him!
Re earlier comment about 2 bullets per explosion being an issue. It really isn’t. I just played through the whole dlc using the bow blade constantly and just getting +5 bullets when ever it’s needed. I finished the dlc with over 200 vials and 200 bullets in storage.

Oooooooh as I never did much dungeon before I did not know there was a beast claw that when you use with Lawrence first vicars rune turns you into a beast with a lovely move set and free none bullet using beast roar.
So I went into the correct dungeon, killed the first vicar and got it to +9 and went into ng++. A lot of fun, oh and free beast pellet build up as well. Using this with moonlight +10.
Cleric beast had such a huge health bar it took forever but now it’s done so I can use the echoes from killing the first hunter and the end Of ng+.

I’ll have a look see if I can find my copy, I assume you’re pretty low level character level at present?

I’d love to help but I don’t think I have the right lvl character and I don’t have ps+. I’ll get a ps5 for a bb remake though.
Good work team quad and retro.

It's much better now I'm in cathedral ward. Loads of options now and I've got the 10k key to the main door so I can start leveling properly.
I've noticed I'm playing far more aggressively this time. Using the gun loads more than normal.
Apart from gazza, who I nearly managed solo, most things are dropping quicker than normal.
Gone back to the axe too instead of the kirkhammer as the axe definitely kills in less hits

Next time to do a play through it’s pretty quick and easy to open the gate without spending 10k on the key.

I can't remember the route for the life of me. Old Yarnham is a sort of dead end, the only thing I can think of is past the Workshop?

Gaol? Or through where you meet 'and get away from my castle' man. Can't remember if the gate is before or after that though

Oh, you're right. I'm thinking of something else. It's where you turn right at the top of the stairs, where the nob with the flame thrower thing is. It leads to a backstreet where you meet castle man and the nice lady
The other bit I was thinking of is where you pop out at the top of the stairs when you leave the cathedral by the front entrance. Can't remember where you access that from though
Oh, is it the Old Workshop? I think you're right. That becomes accessible after you beat Old Yharnam? Maybe. You drop all the way to the bottom, kill the beast and then can exit to where I said (eventually)
