Completed my first combo mission. (I can't remember the proper term) Whittleton Creek - fairly easy.
Berlin - phenomenally easy. Had a challenge for a remote explosive kill. The target wandered around the nightclub area and there was literally only one enforcer. Followed the target for a bit to work out where to drop the remote. Then blew her up. Piece of piss to exit.
Showdown in Mendoza - spotted the target fairly quickly thanks to user hedben's tips for the tells. 😊 Used a hosepipe distraction, subdued her and dumped her in one of the big lavender beds while I went to find a silenced gun. Thankfully the seller had a epic silenced shotgun so that did the trick. Dragged her down the stairs at the back of the party area to a trunk. I also broke into my first safe.
It's a lot easier when you don't fail the first quest so that the maps aren't alerted. 😆

Reading the last few posts actually got me booting freelancer up last night. Didn't realise I stopped mid campaign so I played at a leader mission. Thankfully the game took pity on me, out of 7 targets only one of them was bald and seemed to have wonky AI so was just permanently waiting in a secluded area right by the exit. Bit of an outlier from how difficult they usually are and easiest SA ranking I've done on a freelancer. Next mission was a bit tougher but managed to get it right too and now I've got the itch to keep playing later. Games too good.

My current mission is in Paris. I took an optional 'Silent Assassin' premium challenge thingy and promptly cocked it up by opening a door and walking through into the gaze of a camera!! Other challenge is to find a silenced pistol/gun.. But I don't think there is one on the map.
I'm not really confident enough to bring equipment from my safehouse as I always think I'm going to lose it. And indeed I'm slightly miffed that I got the ICA Remote Explosive from the cache in the safe house, put it in the Freelancer Tool display. Then I took it out on the mission to Berlin as mentioned above and used it, and now it's gone. So, those single use items need to stay safely at home...??

I'm desperate to start Freelancer.
Embarrassing admission time - I've not played a single level from Hitman 3 yet.
I've been playing all the different levels, challenges, extra content, escalations etc. from the first two games for the last 5+ years but still haven't got round to Hitman 3! This is partly due to switching from PS4 to Xbox and 'having to' redo all the mastery levels for each level but mostly it's because the amount of content is simply staggering.

I am finding that my rudimentary memory of the maps is enough. Plus remembering 'tricks' like climbing the drainpipes and hanging off the ledges in Paris.

Just need to find the security camera terminal and destroy it, that deletes all recordings

Of course! Same as with the regular missions. There's one in the attic and maybe one somewhere else in Paris..

Oh no, I also cocked it up by accidentally stabbing a security guard with the screwdriver I'd just picked up. 😆

alastair I’d say the single use items are fine to use for challenges or to get through a tricky area. You got it from a case once already, you’ll get it again. I filled up the entire weapons wall (except the paid add-on weapons) by the time I finished playing, and I’d take a sniper, shotgun etc only if there was a specific challenge that required one. But I’d take a silenced pistol most of the time - it’s easy to get back from an assassin if you lose it on a mission. Just make sure you take whichever one the assassin drops (can’t remember off the top of my head)

If it helps, I hadn’t played much of Hitman 1 and nothing at all of 2 and 3 when I started Freelancer. I just save scummed too much, couldn’t resist, and it wasn’t as fun. Having saves taken away forced me to rely on improvisation and learning the maps, and I liked that much more.

I'm making such slow progress in hitman due to replaying the same levels over and over. I'm on Morocco at the moment, and finding it a bit of a slog compared to Paris or Italy, which I had to tear myself off in order to move on to any new levels.

Look for someone with a thicker outline than you would expect and that's probably your guy

Morocco is a bit of a comedown after two absolutely stellar levels. Outside of Colorado it's probably the weakest of the Hitman 1 levels but still has some interesting bits, particularly in the consulate. My tip would be to move on after getting 20/20 Mastery, or even after just completing the Mission Stories.

I have a target in Paris who just walks from the bar to the terrace, smokes a fag then goes back to the bar. He doesn't drink, and doesn't stand under a loudspeaker or next to a gas patio heater. Current options/ideas are: - chuck an emetic grenade and hope to intercept him in a toilets being sick - snipe him from balcony with silenced pistol (Will lose SA bonus but maybe it doesn't matter) - get a propane flask and throw/place it near him - could the cigarette trigger it? Or would I need to shoot it?
Any other ideas?

Is he picking his cigs up from somewhere? Could potentially posion the packet or slip him a joint.
Is the electric phone still an option?

Distraction to lure him away maybe? Depending on his route to the bar and back, I know there are loudspeakers on the second floor of the manor which you can use the crowbar to get them to drop on whoever is below, just gotta be dead on with the timing. The bar/terrace is so hard tho. Sometimes you just get targes in public places and not much you can do other than leave it to last, pop the headshot and book it.

I'll need to watch him more carefully. Another *possible* idea is to knockout the waiter at the bar who stands in front of him and attempt to engage. But I don't think you get the chance? He stands at the bar right in front of a glass that could have poison added, but doesn't drink from it.
Freelancer seems to have removed some of the items from maps. I don't recall where the electric phone comes from. I don't have a lot of kit so tend to rely on what I can find on the maps.

Yeah unfortunately the randomness means that sometimes you have to lob a lethal thing at them and leggit to the nearest exit

I dropped a propane tank at his feet and shot it from distance.
Now on Sgail with three targets. I'll confess to save scumming/quitting the game to not fail the level as I explore my way around..

So on Freelancer mode.. there's a lot of sub objectives for more money, that seem impossible, unless you have the item. I guess you need to do a bit of grinding? Because there's no way to kill 3 guards with an assault rifle.. without alerting everyone.

Because there's no way to kill 3 guards with an assault rifle.. without alerting everyone. Yeah, I've ignored those for now because mine are almost always sniper rifle based. Plus, I'm never entirely sure on the classification of 'guards'. Need to stop trying to be perfect and just have a bit more of a play about - shoot some and see if I was being over cautious..

Eurgh, I forgot how much I disliked Santa Fortuna.
There's some decent kills and some funny conversations but the whole area is far too disparate and large - everything takes an age to accomplish.

Heh! Memories of the maps are coming back as I work through Freelancer. I'm glad I took a break from Monster Hunter to come back to my other love.

Santa Fortuna in Freelancer at least has an easy way of getting a concealable SMG and an extra exit, from the 2 guards next to a car at the other end of the tunnel that leads to the village. But yeah, the mansion and the coca fields are both a pain to navigate, even with a disguise it always seemed like there were too many people who’d see through it.

Yeah, the amount of enforcers in the mansion and coca fields is a bit too much for my liking.
I've learned to use the jungle effectively as a quick way of getting between everything though.

Prestige objectives are really just a little too much. Only ones I have any hope with are the kills with epic weapons. Some of the objectives don't even line up with what the mission objectives are too, killing the target with an epic unlicensed gun when they want you to also take a target out with an accident. Forget any of them that ask you to do timed ones when you don't even know where you'll be starting. Risking it all for a few thousand more doesn't seem that worth it in the end, reward should be 10k and upwards.
Colombia is the map I forget about the most, more than Colorado

I think I've sorted my Sgail run. Two of the targets were in the courtyard drinks reception with the stage. I managed to work my way around the walls and drop a gargoyle on one and a gibbet on the other. I've now gone back to get the third/first one who is in the room between the sewer tunnel and the kitchen. Looks like a sort of shrine/altar type thing. I just hope I don't cock it up having got this far through it.
