From a purely technical perspective, Flight Simulator might be the benchmark. Forza Horizon 5 is out in just over a week. That seems to be a looker.

The other answer is to download Forza Horizon 5 and then wait for it to unlock...

Not really played Fortnite for a few years, lost my last xbox in my divorce. Been a while since I've done anything except on my aging PC and switch.

I'm hoping buying new tech will drag me back into gaming, not really been feeling it since my life fell apart.

A lot of games got upgraded framerate. Fallout 4 is 4k 60 on the series X.

Forza horizon 4 is the best looker for me, would definitely impress if coming from switch... It's just bad timing with the next one imminent.
To be honest, Gamepass should also be a great way to get in to a few varied games, things like Hades, control, fallen order.. sort yourself a deal and there's plenty to keep you busy until horizon 5

I've been paying for gamepass since it started, not really managed to get much benefit from it. Obviously I'm not paying full whack for it.

I managed to get an X from Amazon Italy, should be arriving this week. What's the best game around right now to show off what it can do? I know there's not much specifically designed for it, but there must be something to give me a bit of wow. Pretty much any game that jumps from 30fps to 60. Assassins Creed is a good example. Are you upgrading from a base Xbox One? If so the jump to 4k will be impressive alone, assuming you have a 4k TV.

Ooh, Doom Eternal with the ray-tracing update is rather nice as well.

Currently playing through Doom 2016 for the first time, just so I can finally play Doom Eternal. Apparently the Doom Eternal story makes more sense of you've played Doom 2016.
I must be near the end now. It's a very enjoyable game, although I wish I hadn't spent so many weapon upgrade points early on, and saved them for the better guns.

I'm quite excited, haven't been for a long time.

I bought Assasins Creed: Rogue Remastered in the sale yesterday.
As a big fan of Black Flag, I never got the opportunity to play Rogue as it was limited to the previous gen consoles.
Excited to get into this one. It also benefits from FPS boost, so runs at 4k60. Had a quick go last night and it looks pretty decent for an old game.
I hope Microsoft continues to push out more FPS boosted games, it really does breathe new life into them. I dont even consider 30fps games now.

Yeah that been the biggest "next gen" thing for me so far. I think pretty much every game I've played on Series X or PS5 has been 60fps with decent image quality. Going back to 30 is so jarring.

Having now done some initial C1 setup and got and idea of it's capabilities, I am going to marry it, and we will adopt the xbox together.

I know there's not much specifically designed for it, but there must be something to give me a bit of wow. Your 'wow' moment may likely come from the faster loading times and quick resume. My girlfriend was already playing Valhalla when we got our Series X. She used to have time to make a cup of tea before the game was ready to play. This being from boot up to actually appearing on the overworld. On Series X that takes about 10 - 15 seconds tops and with quick resume became instant. For myself, its been more about performance than visuals. So many more 60fps games at 4k. Everything you played before looks silky smooth.

I have yet to play a Ubisoft game that works with quick resume.

As I've said before, most of what limited gaming I've done recently has been on a switch or my ageing pc. Prior to that my Xbox wasn't even on a full HD screen.

I have yet to play a Ubisoft game that works with quick resume. Far Cry 5 does. You get a 'lost contact with servers' message but it sorts that in background.

Yeah, it seems to be a me problem, but Fenyx and Valhalla won't quick resume, if you try you just get a message saying unable to save game which won't resolve until you've quit back to the main menu and Far Cry 6 won't even let me load the game from the menu unless I quit fully from the xbox menu and restart between sessions. I've just resigned myself to the fact that Ubisoft are cunts whose games don't work.

I was tasked with getting a Series X for youngest child's Xmas (he actually does badly on tech, despite being the most nerdy, he often gets hand me downs, so trying to sort that). Put an alert on the Hotstock.io app, paid £5 premium (as I sourced 2x PS5s with that) and got one within 5 minutes afer an alert for UK Amazon. So not sure if I wasted £5 or was just lucky...

I think Quick Resume still isn't at a point where they could have used it in marketing. It still only works rarely, and sometimes craps out even in games where it's supposed to work.
Don't get me wrong, it's amazing when it works. But that's just not often enough.
