Releasing in Spring 2025, Clair Obscur : Expedition 33 is a AAA turn based RPG . It has some of the elements of modern RPG's requiring precise button timing to make abilities stronger or negate damage. Game looks technically very impressive and the recent trailer shows some of the case, including BG3, FFXVI and Charlie Cox and Andy Serkis. Could be quite promising.

Once a year, the Paintress awakens to inscribe her cursed number on the monolith.

And everyone of that age vanishes, turning to smoke, and fading into nothing.

Each year, the number decreases, erasing more lives. Soon, she will mark “33.” When she does, we will embark on our final mission—to destroy the Paintress and end her deadly cycle for good.

Remember this appearing a couple of State of Plays back and it looking intriguing. Still looks good from the trailer, although these games really rely on how good both the overall storytelling is and the incidental storytelling.

Seeing Serkis being involved did make me think it is surprising he hasn't done more with games, what with him being so heavily at the forefront of digital characters in films. Now I see that Weta Workshop actually does have a game development wing, although the only game they have worked on is that Tales from the Shire game that is coming out in a few months.

I'm about 80% sold on it, but I'd love a demo to get a feel for it.
