Ah excellent, here comes DRS to ruin the actual racing I was watching.

Okay, so we just need Bernie's sprinklers for sprints? That was absolutely brilliant.

Norris vs Leclerc was particularly excellent. Really interesting to see Norris consistently use different lines to the others in the wet. Leclerc defended cleanly too.

No reaction to a GP at all in this thread really tells a story.
It was yet another predictable race with a few good moments amongst the also rans. As a bit of a McLaren fan, nice to see their upgrades working.

FIA: "During the Grand Prix, Race Control was tasked with reviewing well over 1,200 instances where a car was reported as potentially leaving the track. The results will be updated once the review of those which were not able to be reviewed during the race is complete."
And they wonder why viewing figures are continuing to drop.

Track limits during quali, fine. During a race, why? (bar obvious taking shortcuts). We've been there before, just make sure drivers want/need to stay on the track. It also saves us the constant whining of drivers telling on others.

I did enjoy watching Perez and Sainz though. Norris doing well (finally) also.

Always going to be tough following the sprint yesterday. I enjoyed watching Norris today quite a lot, so far from the worst race we've ever had.
Pitting for the fastest lap at the end was a bit of a kerb stomp on the other teams. It would have been funny if they fucked the pit stop, shame it wasn't Ferrari trying that one.

I genuinely don't mind the track limits issues. I'd rather the track design was better so it didn't need to be policed, but really all I care about is that the regs are applied consistently and correctly. Then we all know where we are. I don't want to go back to silly corner by corner variations in interpretation, which sometimes changed mid weekend as that was far more farcical.
You can't have a free for all because we know that gets very silly and simply doesn't work unless every track is redesigned.
So it is what it is. Ideally Red Bull would change the track, or we stop going there, or everyone just makes peace with lots of penalties. I'm fine with all three options.

I'm completely on board with track limits being applied properly. But the way they are being analysed and applied is clearly archaic and totally unfit for purpose.
I simply refuse to believe one of the richest sports in the world at the forefront of technological advancement, can't do better than having a few people in a room go through a backlog of videos hours into the night after a race.

I do have some sympathy. They have sensors, they put the replays into a queue and then a human being makes the final call. They just got overwhelmed with the quantity.
I'm sure it could be improved but they'll always be edge cases that require human review.

Still, you'd take this over sausage kerbs.
Ocon ended up with 30 seconds of penalties! Seen gravel that's spent less time over the white lines.

Just introduce a 10 second stop and go penalty for every single time a driver crosses the white line. I guarantee theyโll all stop crossing those lines very quickly.

Only ones where they could gain an advantage though. It seemed crazy when Lando ran wide at one point, and they mentioned that would count towards his total despite costing him a big chunk of time.

I'm pretty sure that was just Crofty talking nonsense. As we found out, it's not a fully automated system so you don't get pinged with zero context.

It's why they plonked a huge sausage curb at that corner
The thing is a bastard as I know to my detriment in iRacing.
Storm in a teacup, as are most things in F1 these days, the sport is losing me rapidly.

They have pretty much confirmed those turns will have gravel traps from next season on, so end of the pantomime.
So, couple of special liveries for Silverstone this weekend. Williams' looks fantastic. McLaren meanwhile; despite hyping up a chrome throwback to their Lewis Hamilton/Vodafone days have delivered an abysmal monstrosity upon reveal.

Yeah like the Williams one, McLaren not so much.
Dunno why they don't just revert to the classic Gulf, merch sales would be off the charts

The F2 sprint was superb. Ollie Bearman is still very rough around the edges but his talent is obvious and he was fantastic to watch in the wet. Alternating moments of brilliance with self sabotage. Reminds me a bit of a Alesi.

Max crashes into the pit wall due to going too fast on wet surface: car's fault. Sure.
Perez fails to make it into Q3 AGAIN. Wasn't even related to the Bottas yellow, he was already on his cool down. Just not good enough in wet conditions.
Norris top in a wet/dry session again.

Not really sure I buy the line that other teams are catching Red Bull just yet though.
Ferrari, Merc and Aston still nearly half a second behind and will likely still be working the tyre harder to even get that close.

When Max's 2nd sector showed up yellow I was off my seat. Bastard. That must have been a glitch as Max was purple in S2 and also faster than Lando in S1. I was briefly hopeful of S3 mistake but could see a whole bunch of purple microsectors coming in so that was quickly extinguished.
