Hello, A bit* nervous about posting this, so if it gets your goat please ignore it. I'm sorry to have to ask in the first place and the last thing I want to do is annoy any of you without good reason.** I've been struggling with my depression again, to the point where I couldn't get out of bed for more than a few hours a day. My GP has got my medication on track, but about 2 weeks ago I contracted a bug of some sort and haven't been able to keep anything inside for more than a few hours and I'm constantly dizzy. I've been referred for cancer screenings to hopefully rule out anything in that area. Details aside I've been signed off for over a month with no sick pay, and I am absolutely tapped out. I am back at work from Monday, my meds are working and I'm just waiting on referrals for therapy and the screenings. I'm selling my Switch, a bunch of games, a PS4, two guitars and an amp - whatever I can, basically, to CEX and cash converters - and it's not going to get me very far. I will really struggle to even make rent this month, let alone the rest of my bills and food so I have to try a gofundme. Speedy recovery Danno.
Last year I was made redundant and ended up at home, looking for Jobs for 9 months.
Even with the fairly generous social security system like we have here, monthly unemployment payments diminished over time and I had to dip into my savings every month.
It was stressful. I can only imagine how extra stressful it is when you receive no sick pay and aren't sure whether you'll be able to cover the next month.
I hope things take a steep upward trajectory from here on out.

I’m absolutely poor as a church mouse and overdrawn at the mo sorry Danno (I don’t get paid on the 1st like most people) so I’ll have to defer any help RN with sadness (edit - fuck it, I’ll buy less vape, have sent a small contribution).
However as much as it sucks please try to claim Universal Credit and ESA. You’ll need a sick note from your doctor and possibly an SSP1 form from your employer which they should have provided you. I’m not sure why you aren’t being paid SSP, and check that your employer is not screwing you there.
It’ll take at least 5 weeks to get paid any benefits so you could continue with the GFM in good conscience and it should be treated as capital and not earnings (I think).
I used to advise on this stuff for a living but it’s only half remembered at this point because I’ve been out of that game for a long while, so if you can ask somebody for professional - CAB, if your council has a welfare rights them. It’s possible that you could get some help towards living, rent and Council Tax whilst this lasts (the latter would be a separate application).
