Yeah it’s more of the same though isn’t it. The train yard level is decent but nowadays there’s more stealth to bloody Halo than cod!
Perhaps I’m just too old but the only skill needed is quick reflexes. Die , respawn ,die , respawn….
I saw a recommendation for Insurgency Sandstorm and it’s great! Much more slow paced and really shows how poor and Arcady cod is . It’s like a Socom fps . Highly recommended

I’ll play the campaign (and try to play through the series before it) and massively enjoy the multiplayer until about February, when I predict all the S Club Junior and paintballing skins will turn into Fortnite and I’ll jump ship.
Good to hear the beta is fun though.

Played a couple of hours of this tonight and it feels really good. Movement feels more like Titanfall to me which is excellent.
Maps in rotation all felt decent and well honed. The entire thing reminded me of playing MW/2 back on the 360.

They’ve basically made it bloatware. You can generally delete the bits you don’t want, but I forget how.

COD HQ is the obligatory dl everyone has to get, while they'll say "it's only 100gb for the new COD game" yeah it is AFTER you dl the HQ crap. It doesn't include the other games it just provides a place to launch all the other games from which is why you'll see all the other games and wonder what's going on. |

It’s always the campaigns in these that excite me most and I’m on a replay of all the BLOPs. Am replaying them now and am on 3 (the worst one).
A couple of things struck me about 2 - firstly what a great looking game this must have been back then and secondly, how the Candyman guy playing the admiral almost ruins the whole thing. Seriously plays it like a hate crime version of WWE, spitting homophobic slurs and embarrassingly done swearing all over the place. I’d have led a mutiny against him.
I hope this one doesn’t shit the bed for single player. I really, really liked Cold War and think that with Infinite Warfare it’s one of the truly underrated ones for campaign.

Infinite Warfare has one of the best Cod Campaigns ever, easily top 3. The MP was shit though.

It's a great campaign. It's absolutely busted on the ps4 though unfortunately with a constant hitching that only goes away if you turn off the Internet connection but will close after 15 minutes if you own the digital edition which this mug does.

I made the effort to load up the nearly defunct game pass app... Modern Warfare 3 is on there also.
I think I've got quite a lot of the one from a couple years ago in sales, but definitely like at least 5 or 6 years that I did not partake.
Edit: I have advanced warfare, blops 4, ghosts, new modern warfare.

Modern era campaigns:
MW (old) 10/10
MW2 (old) 9.5/10
MW3 (old) 7.5-8/10
BLOPS 9.5/10 (would be ten if it handled a bit smoother, would have been a brilliant action film).
BLOPS 2 8/10 (drops a couple of points on story presentation and the strike missions)
BLOPS 3 7/10 (looks gorgeous but overcomplicated and has some frame judder)
BLOPS 4 no campaign/10
Cold War 10/10 - like a proper spy film.
WaW have never finished it/10
Ghosts 9/10 - unironically love this, despite the implausible story and some really cheesy corn-fed all American family stuff
Advanced Warfare 7/10 (Spacey ick)
WW2 7.5/10 - looks amazing, handles great, a bit short
Infinite Warfare 10/10 - amazing.
Vanguard - 5/10 - looks glorious but feels even more like an attempt at being the Avengers than the new MWs, and is short and underwhelming.
New Modern Warfares
1 - 10/10
2 - 8/10
3 - 6/10 - some very good bits but very very lazy in parts.
All of these ratings are by somebody that likes low-brow shit, and are judged as COD single player experiences. I’m not saying that Infinite Warfare is as good as Witcher 3 or anything, and no dodgy politics are being considered, which I know is an issue for a user or two on here.

It's still buggy as hell, a fair few of the levels have no music, some of the missions go on for far too long e.g. AC130 missions and the car chase, the addition of heavy enemies with their body armor which break the flow with the specific way they must be beaten and the not too subtle addition of Warzone mechanics.

Yeah you’ve made me think now. The Mexican village bit was amazing, and the night mission at the start too. The car chase was daft, yep the gunship levels were overexposed. And yep I do remember the bullet sponge guys. I do remember liking that on the run mission with the crafting though, which is your war zone-y bit. I’ve just remembered the tank boss bit which was shit too. Maybe it’s a 7 but I do overall think fondly of it. They are always like good fast food or a decent shit action film. You know it’s trash but there will always be some enjoyment in it. Even the newer MW3 had some good bits in it, like the Price mission where you had to sneak about. |

Again MW3 was just insulting, to name what is essentially a piece of dlc a numbered entry is something else but it's Activision. The fact that it was done in 18 months speaks volumes.

I've barely played any of them. Original MW, one of the BLOPS (2 I think, which I played on a Wii U, because I'm a freak) and new MW2 (as well as the very original CoD, but that feels like a different beast nowadays). Never been a massive fan, but I don't mind dropping into them once in a while and the multiplayer has a very enjoyable "pick up, play, have fun" vibe to them that is surprisingly absent from a lot of other modern FPS games. Probably because everything else has to be a hero shooter.
Would certainly be interested in doing a complete run through of all the campaigns if they are dropped on Game Pass, although can't say I've found the single player hugely interesting in any of the ones I've played. Short and sweet though, and normally offer some dumb fun.
I do have a 3 month code to use for Game Pass, which I might plug in when the new one arrives.

Maybe that's why they've made MW3 free already  Gossip on Reddit was the other cods would be coming to game pass later as deals ran out, and in order to not cannibalise sales / micro transactions from Blops6 release. |
