Yeah, the legendary edition versions are definitely the ones to play now, tbh; but the games are still obviously products of their time and the then contemporary limitations etc. -- the first perhaps most egregiously so.
By fuck they were awesome at the time, though. Even Andromeda, for all it's many, many flaws, still has that great sense of place/party when you're on the Tempest, mingling with the crew.
I'll be interested to see how they approach world and mission structure in the new one. Starfield undoubtedly a recent cautionary tale in that regard. Mission based, large level/semi-open world would be my preference. No dead planets of nothingness, please. And drop all that nonsense with offline Strike Teams and AVP points.

So the update planned for tomorrow apparently removes forced stealth and improves combat.
Tomorrow is also the release date for the Steam version, so if I was to buy it, my experience of the game would be different from the outset compared to those who've already played it.

That stuff all sounds really good, and basically corrects the major design issues that they created. It’ll make a much better playing game.

I'm actually surprised it's on discount at all on Steam, would have expected them to list it for RRP. They really must want to sell copies.

Re-reading reviews and game impressions despite the new patch has made me realise to wait it out until its £30 or less second hand down CEX and get it against some trade-ins. It just sounds very average at best despite it's emporer's Star Wars clothes!
