I couldn't find a thread, so here is one.
This poor sod wanted to challenge me to a duel. I thought about it.. but I'm still learning the ropes, and he had some nice armour. So I sneaked up behind him, and choked him out. Then stole his stuff. Hehehe.

There's simplified lockpicking in this. I didn't realise there was an option... it's made the game a lot easier to nab stuff.

I tried getting into this but the game runs so poorly on my PC and Deck with lots of hitches and stuttering. I could play on console, but 30fps is a no go for me. Its annoying, as the first 8 hours I played I thought were really good.
{EDIT} I think I might give it a go on the Xbox instead. I'd probably get used to the 30fps, and if its stable then I can at least enjoy the game without being distracted by the stuttering. I hear its 1440p 30fps on Series X, so at least the resolution is suitably high enough.
{EDIT 2) Just bought it for my Xbox for £3.87. Would have been rude not to. For those wondering, got it from Gamivo using a 25% off discount code GAMERBOOST25

I have it on Epic and GOG. is it worth playing? Yes very much so. I've been playing all the big hitters recently, and I get to about the 20 hour mark where I'm a bit.. hmm I'm kind of done for now, but KCD I'm all into just grabbing every activity and quest I can, planning out each day. It's just a great world to be in (even if it's bloody brutal).

zisssou. How are you getting on mate ? I just completed the "A womans lot" dlc which was excellent, I didn't know that by speaking to Tess and asking her to tell me what happened after the "sacking" of our home it would trigger the dlc but it was pretty seamless and once completed I am back to just trying to survive and get some decent clobber I'm still looking for info into the horse slaughter but I have not played that much this week, hopefully put some serious hours in over the next few days. What is your gamertag mate ? we might already be "xbox friends!"

I've been fairly busy. I had some problems trying to raid the Cuman camp, mostly because I'm still fairly shit at combat... went back to Bernard and did a bit more training, then managed to slaughter quite a few. I've done a few more main story quests since, with healing the sick. And also a few side quests, with the witches, which was weird! At the moment I'm training with Bernard, as I still haven't mastered combat. Also tried the tournament, but failed terribly in the second round haha.
I'm playing on PS, but I have got an xbox. It's zisssou.

Nice one, did you buy the complete ed, I want to say I read you did. The "Womans lot" dlc alone was great. I also have ps5 but prefer playing on the xbox. It really is a great game though isn't it. I will likely be day one with the sequel.

Yeah! I think I bought it for about £3.50 in the sale, which is insane! I might finish the main quest first before getting more distracted by side quests. I seem to have enough cash to get better armour now. Although I could just steal some...

Ok I played this for about 5 hours last night on Series X. I am enjoying it more at a constant 30fps than an erratic 35-60fps I was getting on my PC.
I notice the DLC is well integrated into the main game. Can you just do any of these when you feel like, do they scale to your level? Or is it best to leave them until the end or when you get more skilled at things like combat?

I can only speak on behalf of "a womans lot" dlc which I started without realising I was about to start it, by asking Tess to explain what happened during the sacking of your home. I was (and am) lvl 8. In the dlc you only play as Tess so I do not think it matters what lvl your Henry is. I will say it was excellent and pretty meaty, you can complete with zero to little combat. One thing you do get is a dog companion after you complete the quest, or maybe you would get anyway, either way Tess had a dog and now I have a dog.

Duffman5 Cheers. I just googled it as well and someone else said to start "a womans lot" as soon as you arrive in Rattay. I have just arrived there, so I guess I will start that tonight before I continue with the main quest.
I love how everything is so grounded in reality. All the animations, the direction, the acting, its all on point! It really gets you invested in the characters and the world. Hopefully it maintains this quality throughout, I am interested to see how this plays out.

Don't think there's much scaling in this. It's more how much time you've pumped into training with Bernard/tournaments. Then of course having a half decent weapon! Memorise the weapon combos you get given. I'd recommend also trying out mace/axe with a shield as it does way more damage to armoured people than a longsword.

Ok I was doing the 1st DLC last night. Got very frustrated at times.
I was trying to find specific items (bandages, water, plants etc) so I could patch up a certain person. The game sends you out to scavenge at night with limited visibility. The quest markers only point you to an large area to explore. The dog really doesn't help when you try to use his seek command. On top of that, if you are not careful then you get attacked with no way of being able to defend yourself.
I was wondering about for about an hour last night and still couldn't find all the items I needed. At one point I had only just survived an attack, my screen was dark red as I was nearly dead, I had no way of healing myself. I could hardly see anything because of my status combined with the dark night. It really wasn't a fun experience.
While I am enjoying the game mostly, there are some very frustrating bits where you are left wondering why the devs thought that was a good idea. I'll jump back in tonight and hopefully have more success finding what I need so I can move on and continue to enjoy the game.

Is that when you come out of the mine? I found that frustrating as well, as it took me forever to find the bandages.. basically I just snuck around and grabbed them from behind, instead of attacking straight on. Suppose it's true to life in that she isn't skilled, and it's dark. What can we expect?

Yeah! I got spotted the first time, but then found it fairly easy. Maybe because I'm a master at Hitman.

Come to vent boys, currently on the mission "Baptism of fire" (digital, series X) and I have had 4 crashes, where I get sent back to dashboard each time, and guess what it is a known issue...why the fuck has it not been fixed then. Apparently pc players can navigate it but of course we console dweebs can not. So pissed off, really enjoying the game. I will go back to a previous save but I don't hold out a lot of hope. Hopefully you do not get, it does not seem to effect everyone. UPDATE: Loaded a previous save and got past it...only to have a bastard hard fight with the bandit leader !!!took me a while...

Fine, you've talked me into it. CDKeys can have £5 of my money. I was thinking it's still on Game Pass, but still very tempted for just £5. I was always put off because the combat looked clumsy and probably quite unsatisfying. The world looks excellent though.

You are spot on with your thoughts both the negative and the positive, but I would recommend 100% it really is an excellent game albeit it wasn't for an hour today (see above!) You have several options for most quests (at least I have had so far) with a lot of them not involving combat.

I think it's fairly clumsy when there's more than 2 people coming at you. I suppose you just need to keep backing away and parrying.

The positives seem to outweigh the negatives, so I'll give it a try. I need an RPG to fill the void that games like Skyrim and Witcher 3 have left. CD Keys were pissing me around with my account login yesterday (non of their 2-factor auth codes would work) but I'll try again later on today.

Jesus. Got seriously frustrated over the weekend. Was trying to complete a side mission but kept getting attacked by 3 bandits with a dog. I couldn't fight them off and I couldn't run away either. I gave up on that mission for now. I decided to start training with Bernard and entered the Tourney for which I did crap and went out 1st round. I will keep training though as people recommend here. The game is so janky and usually I would of hard bounced off it by now, but.... The characters and world are all so great. It has great writing and voice actors. The animations and cut scenes are all really good, it pulls you into the world. I dont want to give up on it because overall I am enjoying it, even taking into consideration the amount of jank.
I really hope they polish up the jank in the sequel and make it more user friendly and accessible. The game could be quite special.

Have you gone for a shield and mace/axe yet? I kind of wish I started that to begin with, as it seems a lot 'easier' than a longsword, which you can't use a shield with, as then your combos don't hit. I have got to a point where I know a handful of combos, but then I met some hard bastard, who seems to counter me all the time

I watched a video on youtube last night and I realised that I am doing quite a few things wrong.
- I wasn't aware/didn't understand how combos work. They may not have even been working for me because.....
- I equipped a longsword with a shield, instead of a shortsword. I dont know if that negatively affected me (I expect it did greatly ). - I hadn't trained with Bernard, which meant I couldn't do the master strike (I think that's what its called).
I'll do a bit more training tonight. I have already leveled up my swords so I'll probably buy and equip a shortsword with shield combo. Hopefully I will get the hang of this, the game really doesn't tell you about these things. I didn't even know I needed to train with Bernard to unlock that master strike thing.
I'll report back tomorrow if I improved at all using the right equipment!

Good plan! Also another tip is to go to the squire and learn to read. Then grab some books, as they help with levelling up a lot quicker. There’s specific ones for strength etc. They have a star on them.
