Let’s put that down to a concussion. Was about to say he had nothing to be ashamed of and then…

Almost like taking blows to the head makes you dumb.
Was not close, how one judge gave it to AJ I don't know, well I do, it's boxing.

He's punch drunk because he was like the pissed up guy you meet and try and escape from in a smoking area.

Brilliant fight but Christ that was appalling. Also, "civil unrest".

Seriously, that’s the first time I’ve been actually disappointed in AJ.

"You are not skilled, how did you beat me?"
He actually said that. To a guy who beat him soundly and can’t speak English.

Anyway, Shields v Marshall should be good.

His corner probably sold him a lie throughout the fight.
Looked like he was doing ok with the flag thing, then, not so much...

Consensus afterwards among the pundits is that one of his team should have got the mic off him. Would take a brave man to do that.

Which it probably was. Dude is super skilled as well, and AJ has a habit of pawing his jab which works as timing mechanism for somebody with the skills to counter it. Great breakdown below

I think in his own “I’ve been punched in the head a lot” way AJ was trying to be respectful. Although I’m still not sure why he chucked the belts out the ring. “Passion”, apparently.
I just want to see someone absolutely kick the shit out of Tyson Fury at this point. Not too much to ask.

The 'skills' rant. I think it's been misheard. It seems from what I can hear that he was trying to articulate that skill trump's strength, he actually said something along the lines of 'you're not strong so how did you beat me? Better skills in boxing'.
Don't understand what he was trying to do except perhaps trying to reconcile a defeat he couldn't handle whilst outwardly trying to show some sort of humble respect. Whatever it was, it didn't work.

I see Fury is offering to fight Usyk/Joshua if the purse is big enough. So much for being retired.

Yeah I should go back on that as it was misreported - my apologies.
It was still weird though. “You’re not strong. How did you beat me? With skill.”

Fury v AJ isn't that exciting for me, just can't see AJ winning that, even before his two losses to Usyk. Last night AJ looked busy for 3 rounds then stopped moving his head and became relatively predictable for Usyk to pick him off.

Agreed. And any time he did get through and hurt him, he didn't press enough as he was terrified of the counter. Much better showing but still outclassed.

I wonder about AJ's long term mental state, surrounded by the various succubuses and manipulators in boxing promotion and management. It does a lot of damage, combine that with the head trauma and it's you have history repeating like Bruno.
There hasn't been a huge amount of media output from Joshua. Appreciate that declines after a loss but there seems to be a reluctance to having him speak in front of a live mic. Still has plenty of marketing associations I'm sure but I haven't seen much since 2020.

Still has plenty of marketing associations I'm sure but I haven't seen much since 2020. I searched YT for highlights this morning and got AJ advertising some 'snake oil' muscle contraption as the banner ad. We need to be sympathetic, he was clearly struggling last night after the fight. Management of the event post fight could have been better? I don't like the idea of sticking a microphone in the face of someone seconds after the fight / match; remember they never used to do it at Wimbledon, I think players used to like that and think it was classy and special. Admittedly, AJ grabbed the mic on this occasion. At least it wasn't a generic media trained cookie cutter response? Edit: Just watched the press conference and had to turn it off, it was too much.

I watched the official interview post fight and he was far more composed, still obviously very emotional but coherent and less alarming.

He's been a bit mentally suspect for a little while. I don't mean that in a nasty, unsympathetic way. Just that it's been obvious for a while his confidence of old is gone, which is completely understandable. The pressure to get in a ring and fight under amateur circumstances would probably fold most people. But to do it all with the scrutiny and attention everything brings at this level would be unbearable to most.
