Yeah that wasn't really a good performance at all. Felt like he's almost regressed, sucks to see.
Card was great but the 2 decisions were pretty bad. Thought Ankalaev had the win and like most, definitely thought Paddy lost.
Once it went to the judges scorecards I knew he'd get the nod though, suspect to say the least.

I just don't see why they're intent on hyping up Paddy and how he has a large following in the first place.
At least with Mcgregor he was exciting to watch and has a personality. We'll get to see Paddy get knocked out soon at least.

Losing Francis is so poor on the UFC's part. Even if they had to pay him a small fortune for a one fight deal against Jones, I really think they should have done it. That would have been huge.

Jones is still going to be a massive draw.
Doubt he would want to risk Ngannou knocking his head off 2 minutes into the first Jones fight in 3 years.

I think Ngannou wants to box, or do some sort of exhibition of that nature and UFC are dead against it.
But now that Ngannou is no longer the UFC Champ, I'm not sure he'll even get an opportunity like that. Could still make money in the PFL though
Gane/Jones is a good fight if it happens though. I'd like to see Gane win but I think Jones' wrestling will cause him some problems. I don't think Jones has looked good in his recent fights at all but I also just can't count him out.

If you go by how badly MMA is scored then yes the decision was correct but the two rounds where it was mostly on the ground Islam did hardly anything and some refs might have stood them up again. Great fight though. I don't really like either of them but I definitely like volk more after that as he was outstanding.

I love Volk - guy is an absolute class act, barely talks any shit and handled the Holloway trilogy with a lot of grace.

Just caught up. Fwiw I gave R1 and R2 to Islam, R3 and R5 to Volk. Round 4 was a weird one to score though as whilst Islam has his back almost the entire round, Volk was doing those weird little backwards punches the entire time.
So yeah, Islam winning is probably the right result I think.

I don't think even Volk thought he won Round 4 tbf. Before the takedown Islam won a lot of the exchanges on the feet and then the control sealed it got me.
It's all got a bit messy now though with Dan Hooker accusing Makhachev of using an IV to rehydrate, calling him a cheating dog but with no actual evidence.
Really not liking the way that City Kickboxing camp are handling this, very bitter and classless slander with some other weird comments.

Obviously I've never been in a cage fight but I imagine 3 years out without anyone actually trying to take your head off properly makes you a bit rusty no matter how great you are.

Chuffed with the final fight and he won fairly. Would like to see him fight Colby.
