It’s been fucked for so long now I think it must be more than just a server issue. Trying to get a refund from Sony is beyond painful though, so I’ll just have to wait. Odd you can't get on at all. Admittedly I've been jumping the queue by joining friend rather than starting game normally. Router reset maybe? |

I had a proper look. It was all locked down. Probably from when Alastair jr was using my account to play Fortnite etc.

I kind of feel sorry for the actual Starship Troopers game developers. A bit. Sony is quids in either way, money from Helldivers 2 that they own and publish and the license fees for "Starship Troopers : Extermination" too. |

The patch a day or 2 ago broke Quick Play matchmaking and the map shows no games in progress / SOS beacons you can join on, it's not working for anyone. Yesterday afternoon I seemed to be able to start an Operation myself solo and it would fill with others, last night and this afternoon that didn't work either. It's either play with friends or don't and wait for a fix at the moment. The next patch is due tomorrow whicn may improve things. The offical Discord is other way to find games quickly with randoms via friend codes if you cba with that. discord.com/invite/helldivers |

Finally had a couple of voice chat games, and with a Fontgeeker too - gibroon, who is not just an absolute gent but also someone who loves a Mortar Sentry stratagem. A literal and metaphorical blast, cheers man.  |

Like the people at the beach in the summer that drop their towels on the chairs at like 7 am to mark territory, and don't actually arrive for hours |

I've had the PS5 in rest mode for about 6 hours and it seems to have kept me logged into the servers that whole time. People joined my ship as soon as I switched the PS5 on. Wonder if that's part of the problem.

Still can't get in, that's 3 days in a row. They need to implement some sort of AFK (AFPS5?) timer to free up unused slots. Particularly if, like Decks says, people are staying logged in for hours on end in rest mode.

On PC I booted the game at 7.15 before putting the kids down for bed - when I came back down at 7.45 I was in the game. I think PS5 users are leaving their consoles in rest mode, not realising it effectively hogs a server space until they quit the game fully.
But anyway, had a great cross-platform game with a friend tonight, had huge fun using the Stalwart machine gun to mow down lines of the weaker bugs on the skyline. Going prone with the machine guns is great fun. Tried some automaton missions and mostly got our arses kicked... only Level 5 at the moment though.

The server issues are certainly a pain. It might be slightly less painful if we're at least in a queue.
Hopefully tomorrow's patch will make it a bit more manageable.

It'd be the only game on the PS5 that maintains a network connection while in rest mode, it's just a coincidence and it's not keeping hold of a connection slot.

Is this insanely hard? I tried the first mission - a "trivial" escort mission. Didn't see any other players, got absolutely slaughtered by the robots without seeing a colonist in need of rescuing (from their virginity).

The escort missions on the defend planets are ridiculously unbalanced and require a full team with decent gear to complete and even then it's easy to get swamped. Go and fight the bugs to ease yourself in.

You have to release them from the bunkers (hit the switches next to the green lit doors). But these missions are awful, I would just avoid them until they are patched tbh. I almost finished one solo this morning (on trivial) but died on the extract. My tactic was to drop a couple of turrets and sprint around opening all the doors, then hoping for the best! |

I had to leave game to do the patch about 10 minutes ago. Left it on the login screen for about 5 mins and now I'm in again.

Yes better, picked up a group from matchmaking, stayed with them for 3 missions until a disconnect kicked me, then couldn't log back into full servers.

Not been able to get into my own ship, let alone do some MP, since late on Sunday night so it's a bit of a bugger.
edit: I did manage to get some missions done by directly joining from my friends list, that has been hit and miss. Did some stuff, unlocked impossible and the game crashed as I decided what to spend my medals on. Trying to reform the group didn't work so I have relinquished my slot to some other Helldiver...

Couple of good games this morning including a solo mission on challenging difficulty clearing out Automaton fuel reserves.
Hopefully servers are a bit better tonight, would be good to get some FG games going.
