Two Helldivers finishing off the campaign chain with an eradicate against bots on suicidal, a lot went wrong but we somehow managed to do it, no idea how as it was ridiculous. Having Factory Striders dropped into eradicates is very mean, especially as this was on a planet with one less than normal stratagem available.

If I could makeany recommendation right now, it would be to use the Orbital Gas Strike when it comes to the Termnids. A friend suggested it and sure enough its pretty crazy. Can deal with most threats coming out of a bug breach if you're quick enough can destroy bug holes, very quick cooldown of a min or so before it can be used again. I tried a build with that, the rover, quasar and the 500kg bomb to deal with bile titans and well...it was pretty good. Use it before they nerf it.

Use the gas strike a bit more since they had it available for "free" for everyone and it's certainly working better than it did since DoT was fixed. Tested the claim about it taking out rogue research bases and it does but only if the gas canister directly hits the building, otherwise it's untouched but at least it's a quick way to do it if you're carrying it.

The new exosuit is available after a successful invasion, only tried it on a low level mission solo and the autocannons feel a bit weak and probably need a bit of a boost. Also I've no idea if it's more robust than a Patriot but it certainly couldn't stand up to what I accidentally walked into...
It's currently free for everyone, the stratagem is 20K reqs/2 uses/10 minute cooldown.

It is a weird one, you'd imagine the mechs should be tougher than they are. Would need to be careful, seems like wider perception of the game is that everyone's favourite weapons and strategems are getting nerfed and it's turning people away and getting widespread. I don't personally feel it and still having a good time.

I think a lot of people want them to be like battlemechs but they're a hell of a lot smaller, a Locust in Battletech is the smallest at 20 tons and that's a lot more than the exosuits.
One thing that needs adding to the exosuits is the stratagem launcher, it was in the first game and seems really odd not to have it in this.

They're basically meant to be player usable turrets more than anything else I think

It's crazy the amount of people that run towards the strategems or just stand there when they're thrown.

You'd think the red line for eagle and orbital strikes would be a warning but apparently not at times.

New mission type on it too, absolutely brutal, got wiped. Wonder where this leads to. It's around that time leading up to game presentations where this could lead into announcing a sizeable update. Got the weekend to do it too.

Not sure the Illuminate are going to be too impressed that Super Earth has used their technology to kill a planet.

The new patch notes are approximately the length of war and peace as there's a looooooooooooooot of changes, all seem to be for the better too and one thing I noticed is undocumented, the quasar seems to cooldown like it used to, unless it was the cold planet I was on but that never used to make a difference. Super samples on level 6 is a nice change, 6 can still feel incredibly difficult in comparison to 7 though which is still odd. Probably just as well as gunships seems to be more common as just patrol units (apparently shrieker flocks patrol too) and you'll need something to shoot those buggers down. Still early days with the changes and the new warbond (new AR felt very meh, shotgun sidearm is powerful) and the paint jobs look pretty nice, not got the mech one yet. One thing that I don't think has changed but needs to, if Arrowhead are going to take more time on warbond content they really need to up the amount of medals you can store otherwise you could be doing missions and major orders and get absolutely nothing from it as a reward. Obviously the game is fun to do but seeing a major order "reward" pop up for 0 medals was a bit annoying as I was just about to burn through the 250 I had saved up with the new warbond. You can see some of the UI changes, while watching me die stupidly, like the timer only being on screen as hit certain time points but it'll appear permanently when time is short. You can see it when you use the map any time and there's probably an option for it permanently being on but this works quite nicely.

Glad I got my Platinum trophy early, getting all the ship upgrades now seems extremely unlikely with more turning up today...

The Commando is now available to buy after being a freebie when defending X-45, it was fun there as it could kill bot fabricators if you hit them anywhere and now having tested it out against bugs the same applies to nests, hit the orangey bit of the hole and it's closed, handy! Possibly not wise to let it fall into the hands of untrained civilians in a built up area.
Given the major order it'll be interesting to see when the battle station is built and what it can do. According to data mining platoons and platoon orders are a feature of the station, possibly with platoon stratagems as well. It'll be clan type support rather than allowing more than 4 people deploying but it'll be interesting to see when it turns up.

So, just got this game (thanks to a friend picking it up as a birthday present for me and getting himself a copy). We played last night and it is pretty awesome. Love the chaos that can erupt when you are suddenly covered in bugs. Having your stratagems be random inputs is such a genius move to add to the madness of it all.
Took us an evening of play to realise how we were supposed to unlock weapons and armour though. I'm sure it was our own fault for clicking through some prompt that told us what to do, but eventually we managed to get to the right place.
Seems like this is a pretty good time to jump in, with the big update today. Is that something we will see impact from right away or will it not be much of a big deal until we are at later levels. Believe we have unlocked about halfway through the difficulty track, after doing maybe 6 missions.

Nothing too different in lower level difficulty missions against the bots but I think the overall difficulty may have been tweaked upwards or it just felt like it when one of the trio I was playing with kept dying as he usually does by wandering off and standing and fighting instead of running the fuck away. I continue to pretty much wear light scout armour all the time and legging it when trouble turns up and not dying much.
Didn't encounter the new tank, as I didn't do any automaton high level missions but did encounter the impaler several times, it's not quite as dangerous as it was in HD1 as you were limited to one screen in top down and they could take up a lot of space, dodging the tentacles was so much harder. They're not too difficult to kill but if you're already swarmed they're a bit of a nuisance. The new spore charger is an arse, the regular and behemoths were already but they didn't make it difficult to see everything. Imagine a mobile spore spewer that can kill you, ouch.
One annoyance, thought we'd do a super helldive to see how ridiculous they are, because they weren't in the game before it now requires a helldive to be completed first, well I've done a lot of those but presumably they were never recorded as they weren't needed to be so now you need to get one done again first.
The new anti-tank mines are pretty good, seem a lot more use against bugs than the other two varieties.

I think there's something weird going on with the impalers, they only seemed to become vulnerable when they had their tentacles back not when they're out which doesn't make a lot of sense. I kill two of them in this insanity and both times it's when they should be armoured up, one even survives a quasar and a railcannon shot when tentacles are deployed but dies a bit later when I quasar the middle armoured section. The first kill may have well been hit a lot before hand, impossible to tell with the chaos.

The major order to get napalm barrages unlocked failed so they were given "in limited numbers" for everyone for a short while and they're fantastic. The Illuminate look like they'll be popping up soon so it'll hopefully give it a boost, still playing it on a regular basis and the new mission types and secondary objectives has freshened it up a bit.

Liking the sound of all those buffs, anyone playing how is it at the moment?
Not touched this in 6 months but this might be the time to come back and see what's new

I've not played this in months either and I keep seeing the invites. I'm just busy playing cyberpunk again at the moment and then I'll be on Astro bot a bit more... Eventually.
I think I may be done with Helldivers though. Had my fun with it for a good few months.

The changes have made a huge difference, the Commando was a great pick on Automaton missions as it'd kill a fabricator with a single shot from any angle, now it takes two.
However they now have a certain amount of heath so other weapons will kill them like a single Quasar shot or the much improved thermite grenade. Thermite is just amazing now, throw one at a charger and get clear, it's dead. The same with other heavy units, not done it myself but two thermites to a bile titan's head or on a factory strider and they're literally toasted.
500kg bombs actually have a blast area now their name would suggest.
Pretty much everything has got more powerful while Helldivers have got a bit more squishy, it's a good balance.
