Aw, now hang on a minute peacemaker, amusing team kills is part of the fun in the first few levels. I mean, who doesn't kill a few team mates with orbitals every now and again. This is a daily occurrence be it from me or someone else. Oh for sure. I guess I should have worded it better. Yeah on high difficulties I sigh if I see someone with a rover. In our current team one of my friends wife is with us and she is bad with the team kills so currently the max with her is 6 difficulty. The other three have to form a perimeter around her a lot of the time.

I've used the rover a bit and I would say it's more dangerous for the wearer than anyone else. I certainly keep my distance from others who are wearing it though. I was in a squad that had 3 people using it and I didn't get Tk'd once which I admit was quite incredible.

First two missions complete. Was just me and another player at first. Had no idea what I was doing really just relied on the level 6 player to guide me about. Unfortunately didn't speak so I just followed and kept my fellow squad player alive with well placed shots.
Blew something up near me and and I was like oh bloody hell pal wtf that was close. Haha great fun, can see why it's been so well received. What are samples? Should I be collecting them

Do collect samples - they are how you upgrade your ship modules and improve e.g. the speed of stratagem recharges. It doesn't feel like much of an achievement to come back from a mission with 2 or 3 but they all add up. Remember too that they are shared - if one of the squad dies, feel free to pick up the samples, you're not stealing them.

Yeah came back with 11 out of 12 samples. I think the reason we came back with just 11 was because the other two in the squad hit the button for extraction otherwise we'd have come back with them all.

Made it to level 35 and I've never been killed by a rover, no problem with them at all. They're great for mopping up the swathes of annoying little shits.
Mortars, however, can get fucked.

Quite agree. The mortar thing is all just a bit of a laugh really. I was amazed at the range and general devastation of it all initially but yes, very haphazard at times. Will always take it for defend/destroy missions for shits and giggles. 😁

I’m not sure I’ve been killed by a rover but on 7/8 difficulty it don’t need half my health taken off whilst I’m trying to hold off 20 bugs.

Half those 20 bugs have been killed letting you mop up the rest with shotguns or whatever. I do understand where you are coming from though peacemaker.

The handy thing about the mortar sentries is you can just shoot them if they're annoying you.
I did it a lot when the terminid control tower missions were up and they kept shooting the silos.

Same applies to badly placed Tesla towers, just shoot.
Encountered Shriekers for the first time in a couple of missions on Hellmire last night, discovered that 2 EAT-17s will take one of the mushrooms down at long range if you can arc them properly. So 3 call downs of the EATs and the flying bugs ain't flying, the distance is great enough that they won't even leave their nests.
As a side note having someone with EATs is pretty much essential on higher levels, one shotting chargers with a rocket in the face is fantastic and the cooldown on them means everyone should pick one of the two when they're available, which is very frequently. Even if you don't need one, throw the stratagem out when it's available as you can always return to them.
Also Hellmire's fire storms are really impressive and seem to last for fucking ages at times, good job they're a threat to the bugs as well as Helldivers.

I just started 4 days ago. Loving the game with one of my friends but had mixed experiences with randoms. I perform most likely above my level but realized not every group that does level 7 missions likes taking along a level 10-13. Today I was kicked for 7! games before I got in.
Would love to play with some other people from this forum to limit my time out in the wilds.

Played this last night and had to put the controller down when I realised it was 3am. It's such a time sink and the best multiplayer game in absolutely ages.
So much fun to play.

It really is, you tend to forget how long the missions are. There's rarely a dull moment so the 40 mins don't really compute.

Yeah some good stuff, wish they'd lay off the personal orders being "use this crappy weapon or stratagem" though, the Eagle strafe yesterday was painful, it's fucking terrible!

Yeah, you could see most people using the stratem on anything to get the order done. I wish more orders existed that push you to certain maps and side objectives. Or better, make people clear 5 nest in 5 min or something.

My first 100 Super Credits find! I was only doing a low level mission to get my 20 Scout Strider kills done and found that, nice.

I thought I'd have a quick go after playing Prince of Persia, a quick gaming nightcap before bed. Was a bad idea as I stayed up for another 2 hours.
Had my first bug/crash though with the servers kicking me out of a game we were doing really well in. All those samples painstakingly collected all gone.

So the boy started to go on about this the other day and wanted to buy it. I thought what the hell and offered to go halves with him if he got it for PS5 instead of PC (as he's a sub profile on my account so we both get the game if I buy it).
Bloody hell. It's fucking phenomenal, and very amusing. My hour of gaming last night and tonight (sorry Dragon's Dogma) was playing this with him. I played a fair bit of Helldivers 1 back when I had a Vita but this is another level. It's so addictive. I need to force myself to say that it's time up.
The combination of my son discovering he loves the flamethrower and the fact we both started using the mines to fulfil the personal order meant things got messy very quickly. At one point we were extracting and I had the mines stratagem ready to throw in the direction of some bugs. Suddenly I'm on fire because the boy has his flamethrower out again and is spraying fire indiscriminately around the place. I die, drop the stratagem and the fucking extraction zone is littered with mines. He's still flaming the place, there's bugs everywhere and I drop back in right in the middle of it all.
The wife actually told us to shut up as we were laughing so much.

I think it sold 4 million in the first week.)

If it wasn't for Helldivers 2, I would have bought Rise of the Ronin or DD2 by now. There is just no point at the moment as all my gaming time is spent on spreading democracy and LIB-ER-T!

peacemaker In all fairness I really DID want to get it. Just the massive gaming backlog and DD2 meant I couldn't. The boy's enthusiasm for it tipped me over though.

Fighting the robots is... hard. Or at least the strategies I built up fighting the bugs just gets everyone killed. I've had some hilarious games with other players that are blatantly bug killers too where we just fail until the end and somehow make it.

I have to give credit to Arrowhead for the difference in fighting bots compared to bugs. Although the core game is the same, the tactics required are quite different and changing out the loadouts is sometimes needed depending on the enemy. The bug holes are way harder to close than the factories but on the other hand the bots can hit you from miles away and cover is required much more frequently.
Unlocked the sickle in the newest warbond, it is very good against the bots.

New Stratagems today : heavy machine gun and Quasar laser cannon.
In brief : HMG is fucking garbage, the recoil is dreadful, possibly mitigated by going prone but I only crouched with it as I was testing at an exfil and bit too busy to have lay down. Stance will not mitigate the low ammo count, two magazines only with about 4 rounds in them. Avoid unless you've got nothing else to spend reqs on.
Quasar laser cannon : do you like EAT-17ing chargers, shrieker nests, bile titans, dropship engines, hulks, your friends? The Quasar does all that in a large gun that needs to be recharged between shots but other than that there's no downsides to it really. Once you start charging a shot it will fire at whatever you're aiming at when fully charged, if you decide not to fire and release the trigger then the aiming process starts from the beginning all over again.
It's like the EAT and the Autocannon shagged and out popped this but it doesn't need a backpack and it has infinite ammo.
If you're fighting bots today (it's the major and personal orders) then you get a freebie Quasar to use.
