youtu.be/HLEQO66Z3hM Pretty much one of my absolute favourite Saturn and FPS games of that era getting the re-release treatment.
It's been 20+ years since I've played it so it's probably utter shite and a total case of rose tinted spectacles on my part, but a man can dream.
Still have the original game knocking about somewhere as well.

I really enjoyed this on Saturn too and remember the PS1 version being a bit worse and the PC basically a different game. I am curious about this mix of both the console versions though as I cannot remember if the PS1 version had any benefits. I will remain cautiously optimistic...

I can't remember much about the PC version other than it not being very good, and I wasn't exactly picky about the games I played back then... Might have to take a look at the Saturn version to see what the craic is.

I wonder if it will have Death Tank in it?

I loved it on the Saturn. Can't imagine it's aged particularly well and this looks like the most barebones update imaginable.

This released yesterday, I'm genuinely surprised how well it holds up.
It's very much inline with Nightdive's other work on the recent Quake remaster, with a similar suite of video options and attention to detail.
Beyond that it controls nicely and the game's level design still really shines through.
Only put it on for a 10 minute sneak peak and ended up ploughing a couple of hours into it.

I never played it back in the day but I'm quite tempted tbh...

I remember it being the best of the bunch of Doom-likes back in the day. Definitely curious but I remember the PS1 version didn't hold my attention for long.

I loved this game back then but I looked at a video of it and thought “no, I can’t go play that in 2022”. Some things should stay in the past.

That's what's putting me off. The draw of nostalgia is strong but (particularly as I don't have a huge attachment to it from the past) I genuinely think I'd be pissing my money away.
A few months down the line when it's pennies in a sale I might bite mind you.

Loved Exhumed on the Saturn. Never did manage to get all the hidden developer statues. The one at the bottom of a laser filled shaft beat me.
I also loved the extremely bleak alternative ending you get if you finish the game without collecting all the radio pieces.
And Death Tank, of course.

Watched the trailer and yeah it looks ok, but a slightly simpler Duke Nukem crossed with The Mummy isn't getting 16 of my English pounds right now.

Ooh, I think I had a demo of this for the Playstation. Haven’t thought of it in years but my memory was that it was a lot of fun

Watched the trailer and yeah it looks ok, but a slightly simpler Duke Nukem crossed with The Mummy isn't getting 16 of my English pounds right now. It had a lot more to it than DN3D. The Saturn version had some really nice level design and the oft-mentioned Metroidvania aspects. I hear mixed things about whether this port is closer to the Saturn or PlayStation version so I am holding off for now.

Never played the Playstation version, so I only have the DF Retro video to go off, but it's clearly the Saturn level design in this remaster.

That article has made me uch more confident about buying this. Tempted by Switch for handheld but also planning to get a Steam Deck so choices... PS5 is also a realistic option. Not buying three copies though even if the Saturn game is one of my favourite FPS games.

The by-line says Richard Leadbetter and John Linneman, but it totally reads like a Linneman article.

The video is Linneman and Battaglia.
