Cody personally hasn't done anything wrong but having him involved going forward has really put a downer on this storyline for me. Sami/KO va Usos which they seem to really want is shit sounding at this point in the story.
They really need to address that Roman has two belts and make Cody choose a championship to go for (the one his dad never won) since the RR winner gets a title shot, not at shot against multiple, then free up the other. He wants to take the title at WM, he doesn't really care who he takes it from.
Should've had KO somehow win one at RR then start the Roman/Sami stuff next Smackdown with Roman blaming Sami on not doing enough to help, it being his fault etc. Maybe they could've stripped Roman of one of the titles as technically he hadn't defended them individually for whatever the time limit is before forfeiting, could've had the winner of the men's EC receive the vacant title, defend against Cody at WM.
That's just two random ideas I came up with while taking a shit, they pay people to come up with better so it shouldn't be too difficult.

The could start having him defend each belt separately like the are now with the tag titles.
But part of Romans story is he hasn't been pinned or submitted in years so they want to keep that going for now and really what bigger night to end it than at WM?. Also everyone is convincing themselves they are going to have him drop the belt at Mania.. Again they are making a massive deal about how long he's held the title and keep talking about 1,000+ days.
But KO and Sami taking the tag titles has been the plan for a long time and something both men want to hold together so I'm fine with it even if KO definitely deserves another main title run especially when he got screwed out the belt a month before Mania so they could do Brock vs Goldberg(C) again. As for Sami if he ever gets the belt I see him sadly being treated like so many others with fans online quickly turning and wanting the next Internet darling to take it off him.
Asuka needs to win at Mania and Belair should go heel IMO. Rhea needs to beat Charlotte who as I've mentioned before isn't believable as a face as you can tell she's not comfortable doing it. I think both contenders are going to be the crowd favourites anyways.
Seth vs Logan should be an impressive display and good that they are accepting Logan needs to be a heel.

I’m a bit in love with Rhea Ripley. She has real “step on me” energy.
Thinking of ways to get the belts off Roman reminded me of that fun triple threat match with Angle, Benoit and Jericho where belts were won via two falls. Angle lost both belts without ever being pinned and Benoit and Jericho walked away with one title a piece. Don’t think it would fit the scenario as you really need to pin Roman to get over.
I watched the men’s Royal Rumble as well while I was gearing up for Elimination Chamber. Honestly I didn’t really feel like anyone was really in a place where they could realistically get the win over Roman. No one that hasn’t been beaten by him before at any rate. I’d love it to be Gargano but it feels like he’s been placed squarely back in the midcard now.

Gunther would be the most obvious choice in all of this but it's not going to happen.
They need to get Garganos old theme back. This new version is poor. I'm thinking it will be him vs Theory at WM.

Gunther is one of the ones I don’t know much about. Hell of a push in the Rumble though. So his gimmick is that he’s German and he chops people?

'The ring is sacred and he vows to bring honour back to professional wrestling'.
Definitely done that with the IC title. The guys a lot more than chops but he sure loves delivering them.
If he isn't the main champ within a year I'll be shocked.

He's a great worker but I can't see him ever having a long run as champ in any other role than as an interim. His promos let him down in terms of being able to carry the company and Im struggling to think of a time when a non native English speaker held a world title?

Asuka.
Or talking just men?
Once Roman goes(think he will take time off after SS) they could make him a Heyman guy if they are worried about the promos but he speaks perfectly fine English.
I do miss Kaiser doing the intro for him but at the same time it's easily my favourite introduction from the ring announcer Samantha.

Just men as I don't think there's as much expectation for a female champ to represent the whole company. I always find the "long term" champs like Cena and Roman very much have the faces and personalities to do the media rounds to promote ppvs etc. Cody would fit that bill but Gunther...now this is still with "Vince era" logic so I do think Gunther has a higher chance of success now but even so, I still think a lot of booking decisions are as much marketing decisions.

That was the other thing I noticed that was new. The female ring announcer really gives it some welly. A little too much welly for me.

She got a shoutout from the announcing GOAT, Michael Buffer though. Kudos for that.

She's definitely the best of the bunch.
If they could get a raw commentator that showed that sort of passion it would help a lot.

I just had to Google why Bianca Belair is called the EST. Really wouldn’t have got there under my own powers of comprehension.

I know Hunter is more flexible than Vince on this sort of thing but I don’t think Gunther gets a decent run at the top, even as challenger without putting some muscle definition on.
He’s totally capable of acting like a threat I just think the WWE is too conditioned in what it takes to be a main eventer unless you’ve got a huge personality to get you over the line.
If Roman loses the title this year then I think whoever beats him won’t reach 6 months before being beaten themselves.

Hunter loves Gunther and has used him to make the IC title mean something again. I don't see anyone having a long reign after Brock. 6 months at most which is fine IMO. But do think he would see the value in having him champ. He has all the tools and the look.
People also need to get over this idea that the fans are going to turn on Cody or try and force Sami into the main event. They aren't turning on him any time soon.
They can't really be thinking Brock vs Omos at WM??
Got to be a "set up" for the Hurt Business to attack him on Raw next week.

What was the point in the Wyatt thing and then Osmos challenges Brock?
Cody has a really short shelf life character wise and it won't be long before fans start getting bored of his routine like every other place he's been.
WWE have a real issue if Reigns decides to retire because bar Owens, Lashley and Sami they have literally nobody else who can carry the company. I have feeling WWE will go on a spending spree soon and I would not be surprised if Omega ends up at WWE for a paid day - he deserves it really.

Can see either White or Omega or both ending up in WWE this year.
White likely for the Raw after Mania.

AEW losing Omega and not getting White would definitely end its ambitions to be the biggest wrestling company, not that I'd have much hope they'd use Jay White effectively - this post on reddit is hard to disagree with (although I think MJF's gauntlet with Danielson has been great): www.reddit.com/r/SquaredCircle/comments/114kziv/aews_storytelling_is_terrible/ It's looking like AEW need to bring CM Punk back and have him and FTR feud with the Elite to get back on track, but that will only be intriguing for a few months. 2021 feels like such a long time ago when there was always 3+ good storylines on the go, The Elite were a big attraction and the show just felt a lot more fun.

I don't get what people see in Jay White - he's great in the ring but there's a ton of wrestlers across both companies who can fill that role. Doesn't have much of a look and he's average on the mic at best.
I'd be gutted if WWE got Omega and he had to wrestle the WWE style but there's few people who deserve the big pay day more than him.

Me too, he's easily my favourite wrestler, the big weird nerd that he is.
I think I'd take a long break from wrestling if he left, I've probably got wrestling fan fatigue as it is now.

As this is Edge's last year I hope they move away from him feuding with Finn after Mania.
Reckon he will be retire around Summerslam so give him plenty of time to work with other talent.

I don't watch wrestling very much these days, but I ended up watching the highlights of the royal rumble on youtube. Weird to hear Gunther is apparently very popular, as I was confused why the bland looking guy who looks like a fat Sean Lock was hanging around for the entire thing. Probably unfair to judge him based on highlights though.
Sad to hear The Bunny got injured as she was the only interesting one on AEW's women's division.

In a perfect world, Edge’s last match would involve a Puerto Rican wrestler somersaulting onto his head.

Edge has been used terribly since his return and this Judgement Day feud has gone on far too long.
Guy should be having dream matches with huge stars or putting a young star over - a 41 year old Finn Balor is neither of these (and I think Finn is quite underrated).

Finn is 41? We’re the same age and somehow he has the body of a 21 year old.
God I have made some terrible life choices.

Loads of the ex-indy guys are ancient. Even Cody is younger than most of them and he was on Raw in the 00s.
Styles even wrestled on tv for WCW a bunch of times.
2K22 is down to £15 on the latest PSN store sale (£25 for deluxe) - was it good again or is it still shit like 20 or gone back to being the same game it was the entire decade before that?

It was alright but very cut down.
Funny thing is the roster was pretty out of date but now more up to date than the upcoming game.
