Didn't realise Punk was this hated for being just a run of the mill dickhead (which a lot of wrestlers are) - always surprises me the ire he gets online when wife-beaters, racists, steroid abusers, hazers and the like generally get a free pass.

I think the Punk being a dick thing is because of counter it runs to how he presents himself and believes himself to be.
There’s never really been much dispute that most of the rest aren’t scum and always have been.
Apart from Austin who gets a total free pass for some reason and Triple H who seems to have done a lot to rehabilitate his image over the last decade.

That makes sense; just seems like ever since he left WWE people have been quite eager for him to fail (be it UFC, AEW, comic book writing, marriage with AJ Lee etc). Not surprised he's turned slightly bitter/defensive over the years.

People do jump on the Punk bandwagon but this time last year he was praising all the young guys in the back and then a year later he's like 'fuck dem kids'.

Austin still gets shit. The thing with Austin is he has been open about the Debra stuff rather than try to deny it. She would also attack Steve regularly and in public. Both went through a dark time.
Oddly enough I see people on twitter going for Punk while having positive messages about Benoit in their twitter profile.
Punks issue is he tries to act like he's better than everyone and everything he does or says is right. He can dish it out but can't take it(being upset with Hangman shows that).
Hogan's definitely more hated than liked now. He should never have been bought back after the racist stuff leaked.

Oh come on, Austin gets practically no shit - he was in the ME for Mania this year. No sponsors pulled, no horrible chants - he's had a free ride for life due to his popularity and talent. Same goes for Hogan after maybe a year out in the cold (didn't he host Mania with Titus O'Neill?). If you're good enough/have enough popularity wrestling fans generally don't give a shit what you're like outside the ring which is why I'm a little bemused why Punk gets so much flak when he's been popular enough/talented enugh throughout his career.
I have some sympathy for Punk on the Cabana situation - it's obviously still a huge sore spot for him (losing a lifelong friend can't be easy) and he's not the person who's been bringing it up on national TV or via dirtsheets before his outburst at the scrum. It's not like he doesn't mind people going against his 'real' self either - his UFC run has been ridiculed a fair few times in AEW already, as well as his failure to main event a Mania.
Can't disagree about Punk generally being a dick and full of himself though; he's not the messiah he thinks he is nor a 'voice of the voiceless'.
That said, if he goes I'll be sad to see it - I can't see him coming back to wrestling and he's provided so many great moments, promos and matches over his career (including making WWE bearable most of the time he was there).
What a shitshow.

Hogan got booed at that Mania so WWE had to drown it out with fake cheers. By reports him coming back was met fairly negativity by talent and he's sorry not sorry speech went down like a fart in church. I'm pretty sure HHH will never have him back on WWE TV.
Austin may not get much shit at events due to many looking past personal stuff. But he isn't universally forgiven by the fans who know about that incident or when he walked out on the company. You only need to check social media for that.

I'd be stunned if Hogan is never on WWE programming again but I guess it'll be a wait and see.
Should've been clearer - I'm specifically talking about wrestling fans in a live setting. I mean, there's always someone who hates you on social media; even chaps like David Attenborough and Keanu Reeves get grief online.

Social media wasn't a thing back when Austin was a twat unlike how it is for Punk. I've no sympathy for him because there's a very easy solution to his problems, just stop being a dick, simple.

Certainly hope we never see Hogan again... maybe Flair will want another final match with him?

Punk/FTR vs The Elite would be money. Not sure where Hangman fits in though.
Edit - biggest shame in all of this is that MJF's return has been completely overshadowed.

According to Sports Illustrated the following have been suspended,
Omega Matt and Nick Jackson Pat Buck Christopher Daniels Michael Nakazawa, and Brandon Cutler.
Punk and Steel will also be suspended or released by the end of the day. Tony and Punk had a meeting yesterday.

Pretty wild that they’ve suspended basically all of the founders of the company over this

All that build for this perfect MJF and Punk feud and it was all for nowt. AEW guys do great at burying each other, like MJF did to Wardlow after Double or Nothing.

I hope Tony made Punk watch his big comeback promo from last year and then just said "how have you fucked this up in 12 months? We were sat on a golden goose"
Wrestling eh?

Punk has always had a big mouth, thin skin, take his ball and go home, "mom says it's my turn on the xbox" spoiled brat vibe to him and plainly has zero loyalty to anybody.
I think a lot of his friends are just deathly afraid to upset him in any way.

Damn. No Pat on Smackdown commentary for the next 4 months as he's part of the college game day team every Saturday morning for ESPN.
Great time to use Nigel McGuinnes.
Edit - Malakai Black has been granted his conditional release. (6 months non compete/sign with WWE)

Dynamite spoiler World title vacated due to unspecified reasons and a tournament is up and running to crown a new champ.
Danielson, Hangman, Jericho, Mox, Sammy and Darby all involved.

Sammy nearly breaks Ruby's neck so put him in a title tournament.
Give it to Bryan

The Elite's side of the story, Omega tries to save a dog so he's still a-ok in my book.
I was going to comment a lot more on the actual PPV but all this drama has pushed everything to wayside - the trios title and tag title matches were incredible, both were amazing spotfests as you'd expect but with great storytelling and pacing. Swerve in Our Glory recognising the crowd reaction and switching up to more heelish tactics was especially good, they really need to have a few defences against the best tag teams in AEW before losing the belts, they really are top tier. Kingston v Ishii and the main event were pretty good too and worth checking out, the rest of the matches either didn't live up to my hype or were as meh as expected. The Casino Ladder match was absolutely terrible, Rush and Andrade just strolling to the ring when urgency was needed was just lol, and then them not getting the poker chip when everyone was laid out, it's like no planning went in to it.
Not a patch on last years All Out, last years build to All Out, All Out itself then the period leading up to Full Gear and Full Gear itself was an all time great period in wrestling that I don't think AEW are going to ever match again.

I'm laughing at the image of Punk swinging for people while threatening legal action. It's so American.

Not sure which I disbelieve more - the Bucks being able to kick a door down or Punk being able to throw a genuine punch.
Hilarious that the only fact to come out of this by all accounts is that someone got bit and it wasn't by the dog.

With Punk's side threatening legal action I think that's why everyone present got blanket suspensions, TK's trying to cover his back. I hope that doesn't mean a lengthy legal process where The Elite are suspended for months on end.
