Real classic Vince move to fire someone for making him money that wasn’t the money he wanted to make.

For sure. I fear Matt Cardona won't be getting an AEW/WWE any time soon either.

Just going to say. Ospreay and Ricochet doing the heavily choreographed counter spots ending with a superhero pose every match is dumb. And yeah WWE has stalled a bit recently. Definitely seeing Raw slipping at 2hrs. Feels like SD with lots of stuff getting rushed. The KO stuff is working for me but I just want Cody and the belt far away from all things Bloodline. Also wouldn't mind him and KO trading the belt a bit between now and Elimination Chamber. I still fear they are going to have Goldberg vs Gunther at some point. I did enjoy Takeshita taking them both out as soon as they stuck the landing during the triple threat.

Who wants a three hour long playlist that chronicles the evolution of Sting from colourful to Crow? Because the WWE Vault channel have just released one youtu.be/Hs2sC856Xx0TNA used to do a version of this where they’d clip together a whole feud then air it on Challenge like it was a movie or something.

They seem to be doing this now often over the last 2 years. It's pretty cool but my guess is youtube will make it last a good 4hrs with ads.

Crow Sting all the way up to Starrcade is likely my most favourite period in wrestling.
I lost it as a kid when he finally attacked the nWo at Uncensored in 97.
Always impressed me how he was hit full in the head with a beer can at 1:33:10 on that video and never even flinched.

Some balls to have the patience to build him up and keep him out of the ring too.

Too many Brock references over the last couple weeks to be a coincidence. Guess he's been cleared of the accusations and is getting ready to come back.

That there are any at all is a sign that WWE feels the heat is off him and it’ll just be a matter of time

Annoyingly though in the UK we didn’t really get to know much, other than watching a highlight on Nitro, a week after the fact. I can’t remember ever buying a WCW VHS, even though I knew they existed.

I was only watching WWF at that point. Then a little later ECW came onto Bravo and the WCW Worldwide highlights show on C5.
I’m way more forgiving of late period WCW than most people and its probably because the era I watched live is those last couple of years. There was genuinely fun stuff in amongst the Russo-ing and characters with names like Hugh E Rection (the edgier repackaging of Hugh Morris before he went on to coach and then abuse people at the WWE PC)

Yeah same. I watched WCW until the very end. I think I said before where I was living at the time, they showed Thunder on a Saturday morning, then suddenly it stopped. I thought perhaps it was on a break, then it never came back. I had to go to the local library to find out what happened.
One of the best characters in late WCW was screaming Norman Smiley BIG WIGGLE. I don't think he gets enough credit for some of the independent wrestlers, that clearly followed his path.

Guy is one of thy biggest surprises for me in wrestling. Thought he would be released within a year but became one of the biggest stars in the business. Him and Taker had crazy good chemistry.

I like that. A bit childish sure, but sometimes necessary. Solely targeting and appealing to the type of man Trump supporters believe/think they are without insulting them personally. Pretty well done. Will it change minds? Probably not, but more of a chance than some of the other approaches to work even a little.

I see some people in the comments saying you should use feminising insults or bodyshaming but I think the counter to that is that of you want to really insult someone then you really need to be saying things that will upset them. There are probably a million clean insults Dave could’ve used but if Trump and fans don’t find them insulting then whats the point.
Also, this is the slimmed down Batista thought looked ill on his last movie press tour. The guy is clearly still massive by the standards of any normal person, he’s just not as unhealthily gigantic as he was in Evolution.

Yeah he said he's cutting down on the muscle as he gets older. Also changed his diet. Said he wants to get different movie roles.

Hogan did the same in the early/mid 90s, Darkside Hogan was noticeably leaner than any other period and Rock lost a lot in the 00s as well. The scariest thing about Darkside was seeing him with no moustache.

Nice surprise, they’ve added the unused Bray designed final form of The Fiend to WWE 2k24 along with a slightly updated Wyatt Sicks version of Howdy. Psych! It’ll actually cost you *another* tenner The new Fiend was featured in the Peacock Bray tribute documentary here:

Bit of a hit and miss Dynamite but I thought Moxley's opening promo was excellent.
He'll have to stop talking in riddles soon but his delivery and authenticity is right up there.
On the flipside Cole's promo was surprisingly poor (he's usually decent on the mic). I'm glad they're not sweeping MJF/Cole under the rug but it needs more to it than this.

That's why I was confused as to why you have a faction, that wants to take over AEW. Then you have a faction that runs AEW. If you are going with this Moxley angle, you need to have him run through everyone, and that also means anyone associated with Bang Bang Gang, Don Callis, Ospreay, Christian etc. It has to mean something, surely?
Anyway I did enjoy the Benjamin match a lot. And of course Christian/White. And the Cole/MJF I think they've just about got out of the mess they put themselves in.

Mox needs to run through everyone. Especially the Bucks and get them off TV for at least 6 months to put their takeover angle to bed and let Okada go solo.
Just remembered the cake tease - really hope Omega is back soon.

I don’t think multiple factions is necessarily bad.
The nWo faced team WCW and the Four Horsemen, DX existed in a WWF with (at various points) the Hart Foundation, Nation of Domination, The Corporation, the Ministry of Darkness, and the WCW/ECW invasion had all kinds of groupings going on. TNA had Fortune, Immortal, Aces & Eights and Main Event Mafia overlapping at different points.

Agreed, it depends on the execution. NJPW seems to do it pretty well.
Didn't mind the WCW/WWF ones you mention there but the TNA ones didn't work at all imo.
