We’re also judging a ticket from the 90s vs today. I’d like to know how much ringside costs compared to today? Isn’t it about £1000?
But yeah that’s an interesting perspective on cultural impact. I think initially there was a huge interest in AEW, especially with Smyths and The Entertainer stocking their figures. This has now all disappeared. I think there is an element of they missed the boat somewhat on capitalising on that. Sure Wembley figures look great. But UK fans being starved of a PPV since 1992..

That's some real McMahon style booking.
Also see HHH giving the women's tag champs 2 minute matches. Again, Vince like nonsense

Id say *any* wrestling promotion doing a back to back 70k and then 50k gate at a UK stadium is great full stop without the need for any "buts" or caveats. I think people went because they are into AEW rather than because they were starved of a PPV. Our exchange here kind of illustrates my point about everything AEW related seemingly needing an asterisk (the gaul) against it. "Tickets might look like they sold well, but...". "Their financials might look good, but..."

The triple threat was brilliant, may be my match of the year. Really looking forward to the AEW civil war but the low viewing figures really take the shine off it.

I must admit that the last few weeks of WWE have been a bit of a miss. They've lost a bit of momentum with storylines for me. I hope it picks up towards Survivor Series.
Anyway here I am shitting on AEW again. The whole MJF/Adam Cole reverse heel/face is absolutely bizarre. Sure, there's been a bit of time in-between and storyline dictated that MJF to go face BUT it is really jarring. Although still not as jarring as the whole Young Bucks EVP situation. I'm so confused as to where this goes? They don't run the show now? Moxley and friends can run through everyone, but Young Bucks and Okada are... doing what? It doesn't make any sense.

Total aside but I’ve always assumed Cody was a fairly average sized guy (or be it one who has bulked up in the last few years), but seeing him hanging out with Pigsx7 he looks enormous. I’ve got mutual friends with them and they are just regular normal sized people but they’re topping out at maybe mouth height on Cody.
I think its probably seeing his scrawny legs so often during his trunks but no kneepads era that’s tricked my brain into thinking he’s on the small side.
Also see, Gunther being portrayed as a monster while looking like he has really skinny arms that are probably as wide as my thighs in real life.

Unsure as to why wrestling fans get so touchy over criticism? It isn't any different to me saying I didn't enjoy the last Alien film. Don't take it so personally.

Also liking the packages they have put together for Delta.

It just grates when someone constantly shits on something you enjoy, don't think that's too hard to understand.

I was thinking AEW is starting to pick up again after a bit of a lull. I’m not a Moxley fan but its undeniable that he’s brought a lot of energy back with him.
I’m not fully up to speed but it is catching my interest again.

It is just an opinion? You can counter argue it. I'm hardly telling you that you are wrong for liking it? If we all sat on here praising everything, then we wouldn't be on a forum. We fucking love negativity on here.

Yeah, I think it's starting to get a bit of momentum again and I'm glad the Bucks thing has been quietly forgotton.
Their main event scene is stacked, especially with the returns at WrestleDream.
On the flipside the tag division is on life support - shocking considering this was the best tag division in wrestling only a couple of years ago. Get rid of the Trios belts on focus back on the tag team division.

We fucking love negativity on here. You certainly do. I've not enjoyed WWE for a while and stopped watching since Mania. Why bother hate-watching something you obviously dislike? Criticism in general is fine and no AEW fan thinks it's the best thing ever or that things are all rosy - there's plenty of criticism in this thread from myself, richard, pizza etc. It's more that you constantly shit on AEW when other feds (including WWE) are guilty of the same things but they seem to escape your ire or don't have anywhere near the same volume of critical posts. Or when someone posts something positive about AEW you're not far behind with an " actually" or something negative. Just gets tiring to read after a while and stops me contributing to the thread which is sad as I love talking wrestling and this is basically the only place I can because wrestling forums/subreddits are fucking mental.

You also have to understand from my perspective, that storylines are an integral part of why I watch wrestling. There has to be a who/why/when/what when I watch something, otherwise I completely lose interest and I'll point it out.

I just don't feel AEW are any better or worse than other promotions at the moment when it comes to storytelling (especially in-ring which is where I think they shine). Haven't watched WWE for a while though so can't say that with any authority.

I’m pretty sure in the early pages of this thread I’d have been arguing that NWA Powerrr is the best show in wrestling with one of the best told stories happening at the time too (Aldis v Tim Storm). Now its basically unwatchable and Thom Latimer vs EC3 for the title? Eww

Back on AEW - I'm quite interested to see how this Moxley angle plays out.
He's got the belt and he's at the top of the mountain - what now? What's the aim? Bagging the belt has me interested too.
It also seems like they're hinting that Darby will be the one to eventually take the belt off him - not sure that's for the best but there's no doubt he's incredibly over and the match would be beyond brutal. Have they ever done a "who runs out of blood first" match? Guerrero came close with JBL at Judgment Day 2004.
I'd rather it be a returning Omega or someone like Swerve - basically someone who can be the face of the company which I don't think Darby can. He's AEW's 2008 Jeff Hardy - incredibly over but a perennial underdog (and potential liability).
I'm hoping we can get a Danielson 'greatest hits' before he actually retires too. Hoping for a rematch with Omega at the very least but also want to see him finish his trilogy with ZSJ too.

Its not often you can say that sacking someone for making a racist remark on air was a poor decision but purely in terms of the product, it was all downhill after Cornell left.

Just going to say. Ospreay and Ricochet doing the heavily choreographed counter spots ending with a superhero pose every match is dumb. And yeah WWE has stalled a bit recently. Definitely seeing Raw slipping at 2hrs. Feels like SD with lots of stuff getting rushed. The KO stuff is working for me but I just want Cody and the belt far away from all things Bloodline. Also wouldn't mind him and KO trading the belt a bit between now and Elimination Chamber. I still fear they are going to have Goldberg vs Gunther at some point.

I still find it baffling that Sandow was let go in WWE, and subsequently never asked back, or even offered a role in AEW. He is such a good talker on the mic.
