Scraping the barrel a bit with MVP and Lashley I assume? And likely Benjamin.

Shelton Benjamin seemed like a dead cert for World champ at one point. Just couldn’t be arsed to find an angle for him. The Cesaro of his day.

AJ Styles' contract is up soon. I'm sure he said he'll never sign another full-time contract and I doubt he'll leave WWE but the fanboy in me really wants him to go to AEW for a year or two - the list of potential MOTY candidates he could have is enormous.
Criminal how a wrestler of his caliber has been left on the bench for so long.

With the exception of the US title feud with KO there hasn’t been a match or angle he hasn’t elevated in WWE. He was arguably the best in the world during his world title run after beating Jinder. He’s got to have some mileage left in him.
Going to AEW would mean they have another old timer taking a spot alongside all the others at the tail end of 20-25 year careers. On the other AJ Styles vs Swerve or Ospreay sounds pretty good to me.

In my imaginary e-Fed scenario Jericho would take a break for a year (if not forever) and Styles would fill in.

As long as AJ doesn't do a Copeland and injure himself.

Managed to catch a few matches from Grand Slam.
Thought Danielson/McGuinness, the tag match and Moxley/Darby were all pretty good. I'll never get tired of Danielson saying he's going to kick someone's head in. McGuinness using the Tower of London had me marking out a little bit - thought he looked great for someone who's not wrestled a match in over ten years.
MVP was a nice surprise - he's always been a great talker and he'll be a good manager for someone (though I hope it's not Swerve). Don't want Lashley or Shelton but it's likely they're coming sadly.

The Beatdown Crew on Impact also had Samoa Joe and Low Ki in it as well as MVP and Lashley so AEW could do a hybrid of that and Hurt Business.
Its a shame because I liked both factions and like seeing the guys I’ve watched for years go at it again but at the same time it’s very old school TNA to just keep throwing more old timers at Dynamite and risk them over shadowing the younger guys who haven’t had as a big a platform.
That said McGuinness looked great and I’m very glad we got one final match like that out of them. Makes you wonder what could have been if he hadn’t become Desmond Wolfe.

Yeah, I know what you mean. I'm all for MVP in a manager role but I don't want to see the other guys or old groups I saw years ago reforming again in AEW when you have teams like House of Black and Bullet Club Gold who are being sorely underused.
The "thank you" from McGuinness as he was tapping was a lovely touch.

What you have to ask is why did The Hurt Business disband? It ran its course. They did everything they could have. Trying to replicate the same thing in AEW is a misstep. You've hit the nail on the head with House of Black and Bullet Club. He can't drum up a decent storyline for those, why would he for MVP's new faction?

I caught the first ep last night. Mostly stuff I already knew but the package is well put together. One problem with having Hulk Hogan as a talking head is you know just about everything that he comes out with is a lie.
One thing I hadn’t seen before is him damn near killing that talk show host. That guy hit the ground like a sack of shit. The way Hulk cinched in that chokehold it could have very well ended up as an on screen murder.

Yes. That's how a proper owner does business.

In the sense that TK can't win. Either he's a pushover cuck who can't run a company or he toughens up and then gets derided for going against what he said 4 years ago. It's better in the sense I would much rather he was a more assertive leader. Brawl Out demonstrated that well.
In this case, considering what a great talent Fenix is, I can absolutely see why TK doesn't want to release him to WWE when he's been out injured for the last year of his contract.
How long was Ali out of action for in the year before he asked for his release? - or was he perfectly fit and just not getting used by Vince?

Don't think it ever got confirmed but rumor is they had a full blown argument backstage after a anti American promo he was made to do which resulted in him being taken off TV. Was strange cause he was finally get used under HHH/HBK and was set to win the north American championship on a PPV when he suddenly got a requested released.
But my point was Tony made a big deal a couple years back about not being like the 'evil' WWE and would release any talent unhappy. Guess at that point he thought no one would want out. Or more importantly want out to go to the WWE.
On a positive note..Saraya has signed a new contract with AEW. Thank you.

I think it’s more that don’t be a hypocrite. You can’t run a wrasslin business being nice. It’s almost a given with WWE when they do these tactics. But AEW are the nice guys

Has Fenix said he's unhappy or has asked to leave?
Otherwise the above is all academic and not the same as the Ali situation.
Still, Tony Khan bad man.

He's made it clear he isn't signing a new contract so yeah he wants to leave.
If Tony uses him for the year then cool. If not then he would rather pay a guy to do nothing than go work elsewhere. WWE used to do it so Vince could fire them when it suited him. Not a good look for either.

He's not signing any contract AEW offer? Or just turned down the first offer?
There's multiple dirt sheet reports saying various things, including Sapp saying they've not expressed a desire to leave AEW.
Guess it depends which reports you want to believe.

Really think they should move him to Raw.
Much better set off opponents for him.

Done two eps of Mr McMahon now. It feels weird watching g a wrestling doc without Jim Cornette throwing in his two cents. (Maybe they just couldn’t stomach more bitching between him and Russo).

See Shane's been photographed with the Bucks. It feels like just a matter of time before he joins the company, I'd be interested to see what he could bring on the creative side.
