I have spent the most time with Gears 3 this year

Most of the games I've played this year have been from the PS Plus Extra subscription. Returnal has absolutely been the highlight, it's an easy 10/10 and just feels so good to play. Disco Elysium is a close second, another classic. Then I've also really enjoyed Stray, Haven, Ghost of Tsushima, The Forgotten City, and Judgment.

Probably Cyberpunk (turn of the year) and Infra. The latter has so many interesting and detailed industrial and urban environments, good sense of isolation and sometimes scale. It's one of those games that leaves an impression.
Generation Zero and Cyberpunk are just depressing me at this point though. The constant audio distortion now makes both of them unplayable for me. With Cp77 I got lucky when I first played through it and the sound problem mostly went away, but now nothing works.
Edit: I forgot about Adaca. It may just me a mash-up of Stalker and Half Life, but Zone Patrol mode is just so very well done with great atmosphere and exploration. Honorable mentions go to Scorn and Eormor - Shattered Lands.

I have a slightly worrying Civ VI addiction, so probably that. Otherwise I'd say Pentiment, which I think is tremendous, or any of the times I've dipped back into Stardew with the fam.

I got a PS4 copy of Fallout 4 for ÂŁ2. Some of the changes I like, some I don't. Sometimes you could be convinced that you're playing Fallout 3. If you rate games on being a huge time sink, it's way up there in the top tier.
There was also a copy of Dragon Age Inquisition for ÂŁ1, I didn't really think about it till I got home and finally considered, why did I buy this? Origins has aged so badly it's practically unplayable, Dragon Age 2 is... Well. Dragon Age 2. Inquisition didn't endear itself last time around due to unappealing characters and mediocre story, mediocre battle system... Etc. Still, ÂŁ1. It's hard to say no.

I still mostly played Rainbow Six Siege... The updates and content this year was a step up, and it hooked me in. Got my highest rank ever - one which I'm pretty proud of with my 40 year old reflexes.
Also did Titanfall 2...
I enjoyed finishing Quantum Break, and starting Control. Control is excellent narrative.
Also really enjoyed Hogwarts, but I find it hard not to do an Ubisoft and collect em all, and I don't quite have the time/patience for it. Would have been friggin amazing to my teenage self.
I kind of want to spec up my PC and try Ready or Not tho... Last time I did that was for PUBG and that was amazeballs.

Had a surprisingly huge amount of fun playing BF2042 so I'd say that.

Mario Rabbids, Kirby and the Forgotten Land, Rollerdrome and Bioshock Infinite were the best of the older games I’ve played this year. The first wasn’t even 4 months old when I got to it, but it’s probably the best of the bunch. Kirby really surprised me, though. A genuinely amazing little game, so that’s gonna be my pick.

Either Assassin’s Creed Mirage, Like A Dragon Gaiden or The Crew Motorfest.

Probably Spiderman 2, I caned it in about a week.
Generally speaking, I'm a bit sick of open world games and the icon clutter but found traversing the map so enjoyable that I barely noticed all the side mission stuff. Think the side mission stuff was more enjoyable too.
Honourable mentions go to RE4 Remake, I very rarely replay a game immediately after completing it so to do it 4 more times is testament to the work Capcom put in here.
Zelda: TotK
I feel bad for those that didn't get on with this or even preferred the first one as this felt like the better game in almost every department. I thought I'd be put off by the creation element but it turns out that you don't need to go very deep with it if you don't want to. It'll be interesting to see what they do next especially as it sounds like open world is the future for Zelda which is slightly disappointing to me, perhaps Nintendo might follow Mario's design ethos of having both 2D and 3D games made. I'd snap up a more heavily curated Zelda whilst still looking forward to open world Zelda.
And finally, the Valhalla DLC for GOW: Ragnarok. It's absolutely fantastic and can't quite believe Sony have made it free. If you have the base game you must try it, it's so good.

BG3 is increasingly becoming reminiscent of DA:O as I play through it, so if that's the experience you are after and you haven't tried it, give it a go.

For me it was between Resi 4 Remake and Cyberpunk plus expansion. I haven't got round to buying Baldurs Gate 3 as I've just been too busy to commit to that kind of game tbh but I'll be giving it a bash when I get back home after the Christmas holiday.

Same here but I think Cyberpunk wins out for me because it was completely new to me, it's a new game and there's just so much to it
Just started the Separate Ways DLC though so that's got me hyped for RE4 again. How long is it?

I switch the Xbox Series X on every night.
I do the (diminishing) activities needed for MS Reward Points, and use the rest of my time on there for YouTube. Gaming has taken a massive backseat this year. But, yesterday, I started something...
I'm pleased to say that I'm back on Oolite on the MacBook.
Love it!

I find the way they keep changing the GamePass quest goals, making them more specific and lowering the point value (bing rewards too) highlights how much they take the fun out of gaming. It’s nice racking them up and getting free games, but especially taking away the “free 50 points for an achievement” from the Rewards app and making it GP exclusive makes it feel like a chore. Let me just play the games I want to play.
