Not sure if anyone here is particularly familiar with Rocksmith, but I see that they have recently added piano, along with existing options for guitar and bass. Thought I would give it a go. Bought a keyboard a few years back and dabbled a little but never got hugely far with it. I did try a similar mobile app a while ago. Not sure how helpful it was in learning, but it was fun, which is the most important thing. Rocksmith+ looks like it has lots of lessons and tutorials built into it that should be good.
Anyway, downloaded the software and I'm not really sure what I require to connect my keyboard up to my PC. It is a Yamaha Piaggero np-v80, with USB to Host port, as well as a USB to device port. In Rocksmith+, the only options are "Use a cable", followed by "MIDI device" ("Use the Rocksmith Tuner app" and "other interfaces" just say coming soon on them).
As an alternative, I did try to use the mobile app that can work just through the microphone. Initially this was rubbish and didn't pick up anything I was pressing on the keyboard. It did seem to improve eventually, but it then started telling me to setup the microphone after every tutorial I was going through.
I see there is a specific cable, but I can only see mention of that being for guitar. There doesn't seem to be an option for that cable in Rocksmith+ when you select piano either, so I'm assuming that won't work.
Anyone know what is the easiest (and cheapest way) to go about setting this up?

I reckon you use midi. Internet: Once you have connected your Yamaha keyboard to the computer with a USB cable (USB to Host port), you will need to download and install the driver. This will allow the computer to recognize and use the keyboard as a midi controller. Yamaha has provided a browser to quickly find and install the driver for your specific model (example: MOX Steinberg Driver). download.yamaha.com/

Usb host is a non standard cable. You can't just use a normal usb cable. I have a piano linked up to tablet via one, it's a short adapter, then you use a normal usb cable to your preferred device.
