I'll probably do my usual of crumbling to peer pressure and buy a copy immediately. Me and my gaming massive will have a whale of a time for approximately a month before they all piss off back to Halo MCC, Destiny, Apex or Fortnite and I'll be left on my lonesome and probably never play it again. £70 well spent!
Repeat annually.

Yes, yes, I know, but £70 sounds better than £52 when you're ripping the piss!

I kind of always go in with the idea that I buy it to save money by playing it often throughout the year instead of buying something new but yeah, I too play it for a month and then don’t touch it again. I always seem to get an itch to play a fps this time of year, re-installed 2042 a couple days back.

Having pre-ordered this for early SP, am now getting twitchy bum over the absolute lack of anything new about this, my favourite part of the games. It’s gonna be half arsed innit.
Saw some Zombies open world gameplay which looked quite fun.

It's pretty much the same amount of info that we get each year.
Quit your worrying 😂

I was watching a couple of videos last night deciding whether I want to buy the game and it looks like there will be a fair bit of post game content - 12 new 6v6 maps with some returning classics as well, a ground war map etc etc. it does feel like there’s more content coming post game than usual.

You know what will happen at launch, everyone will moan they don't have shipment.
It's the same every year until they add it

Thanks - I have no doubt the various multiplayer modes will be packed (probably full of micro transactions). It’s the SP stuff I want! I want the spoilers! But it’s all quiet on the western front.

No spoilers but apparently they’ve gone all Somehow Palpatine Returned and shoved a bunch of the plot backstory into reveals in Warzone.

The game is apparently over 200GB? Does that not take up the SSD space completely?

That's "small" in comparison to Cold War, that was 250 gig when I downloaded it when it went on PS+.

Lending more credence to the “this was supposed to be MW2 DLC” theory, the early access campaign currently errors out asking for the MW2 disc to be inserted.

The lack of a separate trophy list on PS5 is pretty bizarre too, it's listed as an add-on for MW2.

Have played a bit. First mission was very good. Second mission is ‘open world’ playing as Farah. No idea why Phil Graves is directing me. If they are going to put storyline in co-op modes or whatever there should be a ‘previously on COD’ bit for me.
Open World is practically Warzone. It’s been fun enough so far but there is definitely a different feel with these bot levels that isn’t giving me that tight action film focus I want from it really.
It’s fun and offers no technical upgrade on the previous game so far.
I’m going to enjoy it but it’s not wowing me and clearly is pumped up DLC.

Loved the first mission, wasn't keen on the second but it picked up after that and there have been a couple of really good ones.

Is it better than MW2's campaign? Although I don't think that'll be hard.

The lack of a separate trophy list on PS5 is pretty bizarre too, it's listed as an add-on for MW2. Yeah, no platinum trophy for a £70 DLC game. That’s a wacky choice. But it’s a separate title on PS4 so it gets one.

I didn't dislike mw2's campaign so I'm probably not the one to judge. The movement is much better, the graphics aren't as good. Will let you know when I'm finished with it my thoughts overall. The second mission is badly placed though as it doesn't give a great impression. The other open plan missions are much better, especially the captain price silo mission.
Edit: oh I did dislike the silly jumping car to car mission as it seemed to go on for about a week and a half!
Edit 2: I do think people that want the Michael bay on rails cod campaign won't like the open missions as they feel more like ghost recon than a typical cod mission

My issue with the idea of dropping Warzone into SP isn’t that it’s Ghost Recon like (those types of games are awesome done right), it’s that Warzone feels fundamentally gamey. The silly fruit machine bright orange weapons lockers, very robotic enemies that seem to have different hit points to regular enemies, the daft thing of causing an alert and then it all just goes to OK.
Having said that @frog, the second of these was much better. However there is one early Price mission that is very open but not in the Warzone format - and that was ace. That’s how it should be done.
It definitely picks up though. There were low points in the MWII campaign, just not that early. Will be interested to see how it compares by the end. I will say it’s late o’clock and I can’t put it down.
It’s really making me want to slog through all the co-op stuff on the earlier games to see how it all got here.
I’m still a bit bugged by the fact you can’t fully follow the story without having done that.
Im enjoying it, I’m just irked.

The raids really were quite good, you will need a coordinated team though as they aren't difficult but some of the timing had to be very precise.
I wish the plane mission was longer as it was really good.

Played it far too late yesterday and yes the plane mission was quite chilling. Laswell’s mission is another that could have gone on longer for my liking too. COD can do that style very well - the cartel mansion was fantastic, and the KGB one in Cold War was even better.
I ended up warming to the Warzone levels a bit (I won’t call them anything else lol). Farah’s second one was great. Soap’s (I finally put it down at the half way point) was even better.
If the trajectory carries on or even just plateaus I actually think we’ve probably got a very good COD campaign here.
MWII just missed being a classic IMO for the following:
1. The gun ship bit went on far too long - only one level of that was ever needed. 2. The car jumping level. 3. Recon by Fire. Something just felt off with that, but it did look great. I think it was the prevalence of armoured enemies. 4. I thought the ending mission was way off the mark.
So far this has actually been more consistent than that. And I think the silo mission is probably the Recon by Fire equivalent and absolutely tops it.
MW19 was perfect and easily the joint high point of the series with the original MW.
Speaking of, I really wish they would remaster that third campaign. Don’t need the multiplayer, just let me pay 25 quid please to play it in 4K 60.
EDIT - how could I forget the tank battle as a negative in II.

The MW3 subreddit is fucking awful, already had a major spoiler in a random post. I was only looking to see what the general consensus was too

General consensus is that it's pretty bad. Colleague of mine reckons it's the worst campaign in a very long time (Vanguard was his previous low point - and sort of makes sense considering it's the same lead dev team).
