Not a fan of Christie then? I quite liked her. Dan was very lucky, only previous strengths saved him. Looking forward to the semi final now.

Something about the way Paul slices and picks things up really bugs me.

I thought it was a better series than last years and Alison Hammond fitted right in; but it lost something when Tasha left and the final was all blokes. Good entertainment though, but I prefer the Pottery showdown tbh

Nice twist in the final, as it felt like it might have been a bit predictable going into it. Also suspect that the favourite knew they were the favourite, especially by the time the final challenge rolled around. Based just on the final, I think the right person came through in the end.
Shame that Tasha messed up last week. On a good day, she was probably the best of contestants, although she also seemed to be quite erratic in quality.
I enjoyed this series overall. Thought the contestants all seemed to be nice people, which is fitting for this show. The standard was probably a bit lower than recent years, but I kind of liked that. Often, you have people who are so good that I wonder why they are on the show and not spending their time opening a bakery business instead. The things they were making also had more of a homemade quality to them, which, again, feels right for Bake Off.

I was pleased with the result. When Hollywood said something earlier in the show about showing the most development over the series that seemed to seal the winner

Generally hated most of the contestants this year, but took immense pleasure from neither Captain Fucking Boring or Captain Fucking Annoying winning though.
Quite amusing that the guy who did win it was utterly hopeless for 99% of the series.

It's possible to hate any of that lot (in itself a criticism)?

Poor standard this year. The winner served a raw cake in the technical
Weird, almost like the ‘story’ was the most important thing

Very surprised at the end as I thought Josh had it in the bag, but his showstopper was just a bit underwhelming. Matty will be the next Nadia for sure (says the cynic).

I only watch the Junior version. How often do they drop their bakes at a critical moment in the grown up one?

I think I’m team Slovak lunatic this year. She’s like that time Jennifer Coolidge did a racist caricature of an Eastern European physical therapist on Frasier, but actually real.

Christiaaaaaaaaan has the most uniquely ludicrous accent I've heard in a long time.
I like the guy with the eye brows that does the Japanese influenced stuff as my early favourite.
Mike seems a bit of a TV natural. If he can get to the latter stages I'd say he's got the best chance of a media career off the back of this.

. Right decision. Dylan should smash the final but Georgie is very good too. Very high standard this year imo.

Yeah, Dylan seems the likely winner. He has been ahead of the pack for a while.
But, Bake Off always comes down to the results in that episode and even the best have their off days. Quite often the person out in front goes into the final and cocks it up, letting someone you didn't expect to win. Both Christiaaaaaaan and Georgie could put out bakes that are worth of winning.
Good standard this year, although have felt that the show in general has been going through the motions a lot (has been for most of its time on Channel 4).

We still enjoy it but it's getting very tired at this point. The contestants remain the high point, the selection process seems so refined. The Producers always seem to manage to get a suitably diverse bunch who are almost uniformly pleasant and capable. It always seems to be possible to find a few to root for, and there's never anyone too irritating. Also the editing is superb, telling the narratives of so many people baking stuff simultaneously and cutting it together in an entertaining way is no mean feat. They really tread the line well between foreshadowing and making it too predictable.
I just wish they'd let some of the tropes die, as whilst they are largely minor, cumulatively they are so tiresome. Many of them just land somewhere between background noise and actively patronising. It's disappointing the lack of variety regarding the delivery of the various format points despite the numerous presenter changes. - presenter randomly whispering to contestant immediately after their round 1 judging (but loud enough for everyone to hear) - "ready steady bake" in self consciously wacky ways. - "I've got the horrible job of announcing" (a bit insincere if you can't even be arsed to mix up the phrasing)
Maybe change the format of at least one of the three rounds and perhaps bring back the 'history of' VT bits that the BBC used to include for certain bakes rather than have Paul and Pru discuss whilst eating a demo one.

Bit of a flat end to a good series for me, but a worthy winner in the Final.
It was never the same after Nelly left, but I’ve got a soft spot for scary Estonians.
Well done all, it’s a good format with perfect presenters (for this). I remain sceptical of Prue

Ah, the pressure told for Dylan in the end but thought Georgie absolutely smashed the show stopper. Very pleased for her, a classic baker. Chuffed for Dylan too, nailed his dream job. Amazing.

Going into the showstopper it felt like Dylan and Georgie had both completely crumbled under pressure, whilst Christiaaaaaan and his “yah, whatevaaaar” total calmness would see him win by default. Then Georgie pulled something quite absurd out of the bag. That showstopper was a proper “wow” creation. Good for her. I’d have been happy for any of them to win it before the show started, all three have been excellent and seem like good people.
Still think Nelly should’ve won it though.

I remain sceptical of Prue Her offspring is definitely a wrong 'un. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Danny_Kruger?wprov=sfla1Happy for Georgie. Definitely made things more interesting than if Danny had have just walked it. Plus, he got his dream job in the end anyway, so a happy ending for him too (have a feeling that Paul/Prue might have put a good word in for him - not that he didn't deserve it). Felt pretty close for Christiaan, but really no contest in that showstopper. Georgie's looked phenomenal.

His flavours were arguably more interesting though, plus he more or less won the other 2 rounds.
